Chapter 43 - HISD Chapter 43 Poseidon, God of the Sea

HISD Chapter 43 Poseidon, God of the Sea

Atlantis' soon-to-be queen, Atlanna, stood on the half-flooded island while clutching the Kryptonian child in her arms.

In her horrified gaze—

The entire ocean seemed to come alive with an enraged roar. That wrath was enough to annihilate both the civilizations of the sea and those on land!

Hurricane winds howled, blowing dark clouds to shroud the sun once more. Towering waves surged, and whirlpools the size of cities spun across the sea surface!

And all of this was merely the aftershock of a battle occurring ten thousand meters beneath the ocean!

On a coastal town's pier—

A glowing golden lasso whipped through the air like a serpent, slicing through a ten-meter wave about to smash the docks. It then coiled around a girl nearly swept away, pulling her safely back to the top of a tall seaside tower.

The girl, still pale and trembling, looked up to see a graceful yet mighty woman, radiating divinity itself.

"Are you alright?" Wonder Woman Diana asked gently.

The girl instinctively shook her head.

"That's good."

Diana straightened, her gaze turning back toward the raging ocean. Where once calm waters had stretched, now chaos reigned.

The sea howled, waves churned violently.

Golden ripples of divine power flickered within the waves, carrying outward from the deep abyss at the heart of the ocean, shaking both water and sky.

"So strong…"

Diana's eyes grew solemn.

To think, besides Ares, there were still Old Gods alive in this modern age—and with power far beyond her imagination.

At such a level, even if she joined the battle, it would not alter the outcome.

Victory and defeat would be decided solely between those two beings.

…

At this very moment—

Poseidon, God of the Sea, had his divine trident plunged into the bony monster's chest, summoning the full force of the ocean to suppress the creature ten thousand meters beneath the waves.

That swift, lethal strike rekindled a long-lost fire in his heart—reminding him of his youth, when he stood among the Olympians and received the worship of mortals.

Yet, Poseidon could not smile.

His trident, the weapon that ruled the seas, had only pierced an inch into the creature's gray-white exoskeleton. Against its three-meter-tall body, the strike hadn't even broken through its surface defense…

No damage at all?

What kind of joke was this?!

For a split second, Poseidon doubted himself—had age withered his strength, or had centuries without battle dulled his edge?

Otherwise, how could such a being exist, its body harder than even the metals used to forge divine artifacts?

Bubbles churned.

The surrounding deep-sea waters suddenly began to boil!

Poseidon slowly raised his gaze—into two crimson beast-like eyes brimming with destruction and madness. The monster's twisted grin almost looked like it was laughing!

A cold chill shot down his spine. Even under the crushing weight of the sea—enough to flatten submarines into scrap, equal to tens of thousands of Earth's gravities—the creature moved effortlessly.

It reached naturally toward the trident skewering its chest.

In that instant, Poseidon realized the truth.

This was no ordinary enemy.

It was a monster.

A monster utterly beyond Earth's natural order.

Even in the golden age of the gods, it could have leveled Mount Olympus itself!

Its sheer presence reminded Poseidon of Darkseid—the invader who once threatened Earth with apocalyptic might.

For the first time, Poseidon regretted his choice. Why had he rushed in, trying to slay this unknown abomination?

But since he had struck, he must see it through. At least land a decisive blow!

"Pierce!!"

Before the Doomsday incarnation Yi Meng could seize the trident, Poseidon bellowed with godly fury, his hair and beard blazing with divine light. Both hands gripped the weapon tightly as he poured forth all his remaining might!

Crack! Crack!

The trident pushed slightly deeper into the monster's exoskeleton. The ocean itself roared with him, tides surging in a frenzy of pressure!

"Kill it!"

Poseidon roared again.

At his command, massive shadows stirred in the deep. Dozens of colossal tentacles lashed out with lightning speed, wrapping around the monster pinned by the trident. They coiled tighter and tighter, until both beast and weapon were bound into a shrinking ball of flesh.

Behind Poseidon, a mountainous horror revealed itself. The portion visible already loomed over a hundred meters, with more tentacles writhing endlessly in the dark.

Its size alone could awaken mankind's primal fear of leviathans.

"Kraken? The legendary ancient sea beast—it really exists!"

Atlanna, holding the curious Kryptonian infant, saw the colossal figure rising from the depths and trembled in terror.

Legends told of Kraken, the ancient master of Earth's oceans, standing two kilometers tall, powerful enough to annihilate undersea civilizations.

And now someone wielding the Trident of Poseidon commanded it—fighting that bone-spiked monster!

"Could it be… the god of legend himself?"

Atlanna's mind spun with shock.

In her arms, the Kryptonian baby clenched his tiny fist and swung it gently.

Of course—

In this DC Universe, no one wished victory upon a mindless beast of destruction, a slaughterer without feeling.

Even if Poseidon's strike had caused tsunamis with more casualties than Doomsday Yi Meng's rampage.

Even if Kraken, the ancient leviathan, had devoured countless human vessels since antiquity.

…

Ten thousand meters deep.

Poseidon and Kraken exerted all their might. The trident sank slowly, the tentacle-ball tightened further.

"Die, die, die!"

"You are a mistake. A scourge upon this world. Better you be destroyed here and now!" Poseidon's eyes glowed white, filled with killing intent.

They could win!

Even if they're unable to pierce the beast's armor, they could entomb it in the deep, smother it until it perished!

But then—

He heard it.

A sigh.

Who was sighing?

Poseidon froze.

"Master! Run!!"

Kraken's anguished roar tore through the abyss.

"What…?"

Poseidon felt a terrifying surge through the trident, nearly shattering his hands.

Crackle!

Golden-red lightning exploded from within the fleshy prison, splitting it apart inch by inch. Tentacles disintegrated into ash!

The bone-spiked monster roared, its voice shaking the sea, and launched forward like a thunderbolt. Kraken howled in pain!

"No!!"

Poseidon's eyes nearly burst as he saw Yi Meng's Doomsday form tear open the leviathan's massive forehead with his bare hands. Then three crimson beams of destructive energy blasted forward, slicing the kilometer-long beast into several pieces!
