{RIVEN'S POV}
The moment I stepped into the room, Vivienne practically slammed into me. My body lurched, pain flaring in my ribs, and a groan escaped before I could stop it.
But I smiled through it.
"You're finally awake," she breathed, clinging to me like she thought I might vanish if she let go. Her voice muffled against my shoulder. "Gods, Riven, with each day that passed I thought… I thought you might never wake up."
I tapped her back with what little strength I had left. "Viv… can't… breathe."
She instantly pulled back, blinking rapidly as she wiped at her eyes, her laugh bubbling through the tension. "Sorry."
The corner of my mouth tugged up.I tilted my head, narrowing my eyes at her. "Wait. Viv… are you crying?"
Her hand shot up to her face again, furiously rubbing at her lashes. "No, I'm not. Something definitely got in my eye."
"Uh-huh." I shook my head, biting back a chuckle.
