For a moment, I think I misheard her.
Alistair… told her everything?
The silence that fell right after what she said, wrapped around my throat like a noose, choking me until I couldn't breathe.
My mouth stayed shut but inside, I was falling apart, and all I could do was stare at her—the delicate curve of her face, the steadiness in her eyes.
She wasn't bluffing.
She wasn't taunting me.
She meant it.
She knows.
Katelynn took a small step closer, her hand gently resting against the curve of her stomach as if to remind me—remind both of us—what she carries.
"Alistair told me who you were to him. What you both shared a long time ago, and what you both lost…" she trailed off for a breath. "He told me about your daughter, Lyrielle."
