Chapter 24 - No choice

( Back to Amara… ) 

The tunnel grew narrower the farther they went.

The air was damp.There was water dripping from unseen cracks.Amara listened closely. There was definitely some water source nearby. 

Her footsteps echoed faintly behind the hooded figure as she slowed down a little, trying to listen more closely… trying to figure out where she was. 

When she realised she was falling back, she tried to match his stride.

But failed.

"Wh…where are we going?" she asked.Her voice cracked from the dust and extreme weakness. 

No answer. 

Only the shuffle of his boots against the earth.

She tried again, louder this time.

"Can you at least tell me where you are taking me?Or what is this place? "

The figure didn't even turn. 

His shoulders shifted once…a restrained sigh, a flicker of annoyance passed beneath the hood.

Amara's heart kicked painfully against her ribs.

Not just worry. It was physical strain.
