Chapter 39 - Why so quiet

Amara was asked to walk forward.

She did but the rope kept tugging…not harsh, neither gentle, but inevitable it seemed. 

It was like a steady, unhurried pull that told her resistance was not part of the arrangement.So she did not rebel at the moment anymore. 

Once they were outside the hideout, he nudged her forward again with the same quiet insistence, guiding her towards a patch of shadow where the moonlight did not reach. 

He pulled something out from deep under the earth. Looked like a jar or bottle but before Amara could see it clearly, he aimed it at her and sprayed some liquid all over her. 

She was about to yell… frantically protest but then she saw him repeat the process with himself. 

" It's for our protection. The place we are headed to, might be…" He chuckled. But it was a sad chuckle. " … hostile! "

Was it like some insect repellent? Amara wondered. Where were they headed?

" Get up! Keep moving! Our time is limited. Can not waste any minute out here… "
