Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Meari Falling into the gambling abyss

Yes, this card, draw this one!

Togakushi Yukimi shouted inwardly, desperately hoping Ayanokoji Kiyotaka would draw this card.

But outwardly, she still put on a nervous act, as if she would be game over as soon as Ayanokoji Kiyotaka drew that card.

What Togakushi Yukimi didn't know was that, for Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, her performance was completely useless. Ayanokoji already knew which card to draw to win.

Ayanokoji Kiyotaka just wanted to try and see what would happen if he chose the other card.

Just as Ayanokoji Kiyotaka was about to draw the red card, suddenly, his entire vision turned red.

"Warning, warning... The host is doing something that affects the outcome of the gamble. If the host does not stop his current behavior and causes the gamble to fail, this system will not be responsible for the result of this gamble, and this guaranteed opportunity will be wasted."

A cold voice suddenly appeared, startling Ayanokoji.

Is this the system's disclaimer?

Indeed, the system cannot affect reality, it can only guide his actions. The system will help him win, but if he actively seeks defeat, the system will not help him...

Ayanokoji Kiyotaka hadn't thought of one question—as long as he didn't intentionally surrender, the system's guaranteed mechanism would definitely lead him to victory. So... can the system really not affect reality?

Since the "experimental result" was out, Ayanokoji Kiyotaka no longer teased the system, completely ignoring Togakushi Yukimi who was still acting, and drew the card to her left.

This card had the same number as the card in Ayanokoji's hand.

Ayanokoji already knew this, casually glanced at it, and threw it onto the gambling table.

The game ended, leaving Togakushi Yukimi foolishly holding a 7 of Diamonds.

Sure enough, she lost...

Togakushi Yukimi's eyes were lifeless as she dejectedly put down the card in her hand.

She had a premonition that this gamble might be doomed from the moment she drew the wrong card, but Ayanokoji Kiyotaka's hesitation ignited a glimmer of hope in her.

She thought Ayanokoji would make a mistake, she thought she could turn the tables... such a thing was indeed too fantastical.

"The gamble is over, and the final winner is, Ayanokoji Kiyotaka!" Yomotsuki Runa timely announced Ayanokoji Kiyotaka's victory.

She asked the two: "Neither of you cheated during the gamble. Do you have any objections to the result of this gamble?"

"No." Ayanokoji Kiyotaka said without any psychological burden.

Although he used the system's power, the system was his own ability, just like books he had read or problems he had solved, all were part of himself, so it certainly wasn't cheating.

Togakushi Yukimi lowered her head, clenching her hands tightly, then weakly releasing them, still accepting the outcome of the gamble.

...I don't either.

She was full of regret now, deep regret.

She shouldn't have listened to Ayanokoji Kiyotaka's instigation from the start, shouldn't have accepted this gamble, shouldn't have put the casino up as a stake...

Unfortunately, it was too late for her to regret.

Speaking of which, if it weren't for Mikura's secret help, she would have already lost in the gamble with Meari, and the casino would have changed hands then.

Now it was just half an hour late.

"Since both parties have no objections to the result, then this casino officially belongs to Ayanokoji Kiyotaka!" As a member of the Student Council's Supervisory Management Committee, Yomotsuki Runa had the full authority to transfer ownership of the casino.

"Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, tomorrow afternoon I will draft a casino transfer document. Once you sign it, this casino will officially be yours."

"Remember to pay the casino's monthly venue fee of 500,000 yen," Mikura interjected.

Ayanokoji chuckled, tapping his fingers on the gambling table: "So, I'm the owner of this casino now?"

"That's great, Ayanokoji! Now we have a casino!" Hanatemari Kazura said happily.

"Ayanokoji, congratulations on winning..." Saotome walked over, a happy smile on her face, genuinely happy for Ayanokoji.

Ayanokoji Kiyotaka was indeed amazing. Even without using her secret weapon, he still won.

"Wait... who are 'you' referring to?" Ayanokoji Kiyotaka interrupted Saotome, correcting their grammatical error: "Don't get it wrong, this is my casino, not yours."

The two stood awkwardly in place, looking at each other, not knowing what Ayanokoji Kiyotaka was up to.

"Aren't we friends?" Saotome Meari couldn't help but say, "You just said outside that you'd help me take down a casino…"

"We are friends, that's correct. However, you didn't help, nor did you invest. I took down this casino by myself, so it has nothing to do with you, right?"

Ayanokoji looked up and provocatively at Saotome, "You wouldn't be trying to get something for nothing, would you? Where's the courage you had when you borrowed money to gamble just now? Didn't you think you could win? Then come and gamble with me."

"...I see."

Saotome Meari understood Ayanokoji Kiyotaka's meaning.

She took a deep breath and said with certainty, "I understand… I will gamble with you, for the ownership of this casino!"

After a long detour, it was now Ayanokoji Kiyotaka and Saotome Meari gambling.

"We can gamble, but do you have money? Aren't you still owing the Student Council 250,000 yen?" Ayanokoji chuckled. Although there was no sarcasm, it still made Saotome Meari feel like she was being publicly executed.

"I'll bet my body with you!" Saotome didn't want to be dismissed as useless, and the words blurted out.

"?"

Everyone's eyes instantly turned to Saotome Meari, with amusement, shock, and scrutiny. No one expected Saotome to say such a thing.

"Tsk tsk… You've only been at this school for two days, and you already want to sell yourself?" Mikura sneered, "You're degenerating a bit fast."

Seeing everyone misunderstand, Saotome quickly clarified, "What I mean is, if I lose, I'll work for free at the casino and use the money I win to pay off my debts!"

"Oh, I see…" Hanatemari breathed a sigh of relief, patting her chest thankfully: "That's great, I really thought Meari wanted to sell her body…"

"By the way, you don't have to rush to pay back my 500,000 yen. If you lose, you lose. Meari, please don't take such risks!"

Although she was comforting Saotome, Saotome not only didn't relax but felt even more pressured.

Regardless of her 250,000 yen, the 500,000 yen borrowed from Hanatemari Kazura and the 250,000 yen borrowed from the Student Council had to be won back quickly.

But now, she had no gambling funds at all, and besides Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, there was no one she could borrow money from.

Ayanokoji rested his hand on his chin and smiled at Saotome.

"Meari, how about this? If you win against me, I will not only transfer the ownership of this casino to you, but also give you an additional one million yen. If you lose…"

Saotome said decisively, "All casino operations will be handed over to me, and you won't have to worry about the casino usage fees. I will earn you at least 500,000 yen in income every month, for half a year!"

Half a year, which is six months.

Saotome meant that if she lost, she would have to earn Ayanokoji Kiyotaka at least 3 million yen within half a year.

Saotome Meari's words caught Ayanokoji Kiyotaka off guard, and Hanatemari Kazura, who was standing by, quickly pulled Meari's arm upon hearing this.

She said anxiously, "Meari, forget it… Let's not gamble. I'll go home tonight and ask my father for more money. There's no need to risk yourself…"

Saotome Meari ignored Hanatemari and just stared at Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, waiting for his response.

"Alright, I'll gamble with you."

Ayanokoji Kiyotaka stood up, walked over to Saotome Meari, and said in a voice only she could hear, "Saotome, I'm serious. If you lose, I really will treat you as an employee and boss you around for half a year."

Ayanokoji Kiyotaka didn't want to gamble with Saotome. He was still trying to persuade Saotome, hoping she would give up gambling.

Unfortunately, his advice was useless.

"I'm serious too, Ayanokoji. Actually, I'm very grateful to you. Because… if I gamble, I still have a chance to turn things around. If I don't gamble, then I'm truly defeated."

Saotome Meari gave Ayanokoji Kiyotaka a confident smile: "It's fine, no matter what you want to gamble with me, I'll play along. I believe I can win."

Ayanokoji Kiyotaka truly admired Meari. No matter what, she always firmly believed that she could win.

That's right, this girl… is a complete gambler. As long as she grasps a slight opportunity, she will fantasize about turning things around.

Perhaps before she was dedicated to passing the entrance exam for Private Hyakkaou Academy, she had already become a gambler.

If he hadn't come to this school, Meari might have won many gambles, defeated many people, won a lot of money, and even stood at the pinnacle of this academy.

However, she would not stop.

As long as she had something that could be used as a stake, she would continue to gamble.

...Until she lost her entire life in one gamble.

That's right, she had already fallen into the gambling abyss. If she hadn't met him, only destruction awaited her.

As Ayanokoji Kiyotaka realized this, a voice sounded in Ayanokoji Kiyotaka's mind.

[Task 1: Save Saotome Meari and free her from the gambling abyss.]

Release Statement and Rewards

Tomorrow is the day of release.

Finally, this day has come.

To be honest, when I saw that there wasn't a single Kakegurui fanfiction on Ciweimao, I thought this subject was sensitive and not allowed to be written.

While writing, I was also on tenterhooks. A novel describing gambling, it wouldn't be surprising if it got banned at any time.

This book starts the plot from the Kakegurui Twin manga, with Meari's growth as the overt storyline in the early stages, Ayanokoji Kiyotaka's story as the hidden storyline, and battling wits with the Student Council members.

Everyone's favorite Yumeko Jabami, like the Student Council President, is a boss-level character, a character with maxed-out gambling skills. They will probably appear in the middle of the plot.

Especially Yumeko Jabami, in the outline, I've dedicated a lot of ink to her. It can be said that she is a "world destroyer" type of character; once she appears, she will break the balance.

I have a complete outline, and the plot will generally not collapse.

However, for this book, I won't promise to keep writing it indefinitely. If the performance isn't good, I might not even write until Yumeko Jabami appears.

Nearly a month of updates is finally coming to fruition.

After all, it's my first book on Ciweimao, and I still have some expectations for it. If this book doesn't even reach a thousand subscriptions, I might not last long before cutting it and going to write a Genshin Impact or Honkai fanfiction.

Kakegurui is a niche work. Perhaps only you, the readers, will click to read it on Ciweimao. If you don't read it, I naturally won't have the motivation to write.

Readers and authors are actually a two-way choice. Most authors don't like writing Genshin Impact; it's just that readers like to read Genshin Impact. As long as you write Genshin Impact, there's popularity, and as long as you write Genshin Impact, there are clicks.

There's no way around it; it's the general trend, and you can only change with it. This is also why there are fewer and fewer niche books on Ciweimao.

No matter how much I like what I write, there's no need to write it if no one reads it.

By the way, I'll open a reward system. I see other authors have done it too.

From now on, for every 1000 additional recommendation tickets and 100 monthly votes, one chapter will be added, with a maximum of ten chapters.

For every 10,000 in tips, one chapter will be added, accumulating upwards, and will be randomly added in addition to the usual two guaranteed chapters.

The above rewards will last for one month for now. We'll discuss things after that.

Because I will stick with this book for at least one month. If the performance of this book is particularly poor and there is no hope for growth, then you all should be mentally prepared. Read it while you can and cherish it.

I won't say much more. In short, I hope you will still click on this book after it's released.
