Lupin nodded decisively after a moment of silence; it was a free job, and he could also help Hogwarts with some convenience, so why not?
"When do we depart?"
Kayson adjusted his monocle: "Tomorrow morning, bring Sirius and Harry, and meet in my office."
"Oh? Are we going abroad by magical means this time?"
Kayson subconsciously looked up at the sky; if a small plane made with mechanical power counted as magic...
"Exactly!"
The next day...
Lupin and Harry appeared in Kayson's office with large bags, which made the latter a bit confused.
"Why can't you use something like an Undetectable Extension Charm? You can learn from Sirius in this regard." Kayson said, pointing to Sirius, who was just a small black dot far outside the door.
And Sirius tilted his head, he actually heard it, and responded: "What Undetectable Extension Charm?"
"...Aren't you bringing luggage?" Kayson asked with a slip of the tongue.
"No need, I'm bringing Galleons and pounds. If I need anything, I'll just buy it there." Sirius answered as a matter of course.
Harry, who was relatively wealthy, and Lupin, who was working class, looked at Sirius in the distance with the eyes of someone looking at a capitalist.
"How do we depart, Portkey or fireplace or something?" After a small interlude, Lupin asked.
"By plane."
"??? If we're flying, why don't we just meet at the airport? Why come here?" Harry asked, confused.
"Who said only airports have planes?" Kayson said, pulling out a small remote control from his person and pressing a button on it. A small plane, made of various strange wooden structures and redstone machines, lit up nearby.
"Oh my god, I thought that was a craft!" Lupin said, looking at the wooden plane in front of him, somewhat dumbfounded, after all, what normal person...
Never mind, Kayson couldn't really be called a normal person, but...
"Can this thing really fly? Your plane has wings on both sides and a propeller on top. Aren't the components a bit too complex?" Lupin stroked his chin and carefully examined the small plane. It didn't seem particularly logical no matter how he looked at it, neither magical nor scientific.
"Oh, don't worry about that, it can fly anyway! And Sirius, I'm temporarily letting you into the office this once, hurry up and come in!" Kayson shouted towards Sirius outside the door, then decisively sat in the pilot's seat of the plane.
Lupin still didn't understand: "Why is the rest of this plane oak-colored, but the propeller has red patterns?"
"Because I figured painting some red on it would make it spin faster," Kayson said casually from the pilot's seat.
Soon, as Sirius trotted over, Lupin's gaze grew even more confused, because the two propellers above the plane gradually began to rotate slowly, and then the two blades got closer and closer...
"Kayson, if I'm not mistaken, those two propellers look like they're about to touch," Lupin shouted urgently.
"Oh, what are you panicking about? If I say this plane can fly, it can fly!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the two propellers inevitably collided... and then passed through each other.
"What the!" Lupin almost popped his eyes out, staring blankly at the two propellers that just phased through each other so smoothly.
"No way? Kayson, are the two propellers on this plane real?" This time, it wasn't just Lupin; Sirius and Harry also doubted the reality of the propellers.
"If you're really curious, go ahead and touch them," Kayson said, enjoying the show.
Lupin reached out to touch it, with a try-it-and-see attitude...
"Ouch, ouch, oh, hiss..."
"How was it? Are you sure it's real now?" Kayson asked with a smile.
"Wait..." Lupin's stubbornness was piqued. He shook his throbbing left hand and switched to his right hand, walking towards the other propeller.
"Ah, oh, ouch, ah, oh..."
"How about now?" Kayson asked, looking somewhat helplessly at Lupin, who seemed to have masochistic tendencies.
"I believe in the reality of these two guys, but why does this thing phase through? It's not scientific!"
"It's a feature, kid," Kayson explained, though the explanation was no different from no explanation at all.
Only after the other three had boarded the plane did he pull out the small remote control and casually press a button. The huge floor-to-ceiling window slowly descended under the control of mechanical arms and pistons, forming a massive runway.
"I can only say, if James were still among us, he would definitely love this adventure!" Sirius sat in the crude seat of the crude plane, looking left and right. Although the plane was filled with all sorts of unreliability everywhere, for Sirius, he really liked this kind of thrill.
If an adventure was perfectly safe with no hidden dangers, wouldn't he be unaccustomed to it?
It was another strong piece of evidence for the 'fewer foreigners' theory.
"He likes adventure very much?" Harry asked.
"Yes, your dad was crazy, just like Kayson. Before, I thought Kayson was a pretty reliable adult, but after seeing this plane he made, I realized... bringing you along with us on this adventure might not be a particularly good idea," Sirius responded loudly.
"I don't think so, isn't Lupin still here?" Harry shook his head and said.
"What's Lupin doing?" Sirius looked at Harry with an expression that said 'you're still too young,' and the latter subconsciously glanced at Lupin, who was sitting in the co-pilot's seat in front. He was holding a gear box, looking flustered, enduring Kayson's Snape-esque scolding.
"Holy moly! Lupin, you're truly a genius! Your brain, which isn't much bigger than a Troll's, is far smarter than a Troll's! May I ask which Alchemy master or mechanical expert was your teacher, allowing you to dismantle my plane's gearbox with your bare hands? You must be the true Mechanical Priest! This is an unprecedented achievement in normal human history, you really should apply for a Guinness World Record! And why are you still holding that gearbox? Is that poor gear box your wife or Tonks? Hurry up and put it back!"
Harry watched Lupin frantically putting the gearbox back into its slot, then looked at Sirius, who was sitting next to him, already wearing sunglasses and ready to embrace the free sky, and Kayson in the driver's seat, furiously stomping on the accelerator and shifting gears to make the propellers go faster and faster...
As the plane started moving, taking a run-up on the huge glass runway and finally taking flight, Harry looked back at Hogwarts behind him with a touch of sadness: "Are we really going to make it back alive?"
