Chapter 3 - The Consequences

Julius enters the apartment quietly, closing the door softly behind him. The apartment was dark, the only light source visible was the soft glow of the TV. The TV's glow illuminated Yuna's face, as she sat wrapped in blankets, motionless.

As Julius made his way to the bathroom, Yuna got up and stood in front of him before he could blink.

She grabbed his collar and pulled his neck close, sniffing him loudly.

"Huh. You were only gone two hours, but I smell a girl's cheap perfume odor all over you. Did you really go all the way with some girl then come back here?" Yuna was less mad and more puzzled.

Julius grabbed her and hugged her tightly. He nuzzled his face into her hair.

"I missed you babe."

Yuna did not hug him back but also did not push him off. She smacked her teeth, "Really? You're going to call me babe after you snuck off with some girl? You're shameless."

Julius let go of her and put his hands in his pockets, "And you are so kind. I thought you would storm out of here the moment I left, but you actually stayed for me."

Yuna scoffed and stomped over to the couch, plopping back into the same spot. She looked over at Julius and patted a spot on the couch next to her, "You asked me to didn't you? Now are you going to stand there or are you going to sit and finally spend time with me?"

A confusion expression flashed over Julius face, "Don't you want me to shower first…"

Yuna frowned and turned back to the TV. She mumbled, "I've been waiting for hours for you to get back, and now I have to wait more."

Julius smiled at the quiet comment. As he rushed to the bathroom, he yelled out, "Ten minutes, okay? Once I get out, we're watching an old kung-fu flick. Get ready!"

Julius turned the shower on and sat down on the toilet. He opened up his phone and looked through his text messages with Sasha.

The newest message read, "I had fun tonight. Are you free tomorrow?"

Julius stared at the message and bit his lip. His mind was full of vivid images of his escapades with Sasha. After a few minutes, Julius walked out of the bathroom and snuck into the living room. He stepped carefuly, being careful to make as little noise as possible.

Julius stood over Yuna as she laid facing away from the TV, staring at her phone intently. Her hands shook and her lips trembled as she stared at something on her phone.

"Hey babe," Julius broke the silence.

Yuna fumbled with her phone, and shoved it into her pocket immeidately.

"Who was that?" Julius asked nonchalantly.

"Umm…nobody. Just my friend Eric from work…nothing important," Yuna lied unconvincingly.

Julius jumped over the couch and landed next to her. Yuna sat up and Julius put his arm around her.

Julius spoke calmly, "I don't think you ever told me about anyone named Eric from work."

Yuna attempted to maintain her cool facae, but it was starting to slip, "Right. He's a new hire. I was going to tell you about him before you went out with your little girlfriend…"

Julius laughs aloud, "And tell me, what does Eric the new hire want from you at 11 at night?"

Yuna voice shifted and she got defensive, "Just work stuff, okay? I'm not like you, you don't have to worry about him."

"She's wrong, we're exactly alike. Maybe that's why I'm always drawn back to her," Julius thought to himself.

Julius continued to chuckle to himself, "Man, you are so bad at lying it's cute."

Yuna's cheeks grew bright red and she pushed Julius' arm away.

"What is up with you? Are you mad or not, you're impossible to under stand."

Julius shrugged his shoulders, "I'll tell you if I'm mad after you tell me who Eric is."

Yuna stood up and looked down at Julius, her eyes burning with a cold fire, "Okay…I'll tell you. But just listen, alright? Don't react until I'm finished."

Julius laid back into the couch and stared up at her.

She exhaled loudly, "Eric…isn't my coworker."

"Who could've guessed that," Julius mumbled under his breath.

Yuna glared at him before continuing, "He's an old friend. We have history. Back when we were on a break in college, Eric was…we used to be more than friends."

Julius rolled his eyes, "I don't care about that babe. Why is he texting you now? What is he to you now?"

Yuna fidgeted and turned away, "Right now, he's an acquiantance. But he was asking me if I'd like to grab lunch with him tomorrow."

Julius is silent for a while. He bit down on his finger and looked over at the TV blaring in the background. He grabbed the remote and paused the show, before looking back up at Yuna.

"I think you should go with him."

Yuna stumbled back at the respone, "You want me to go with him," She began to pace around the living room, "No…no. I know how you get. You're going to get all jealous and pissy if I go."

Julius smiled, "I'm trying to turn over a new leaf here. I don't want to keep sneaking around. If we're going to be open, if this is what we really want…then I think we should honest with eah other."

Yuna looked out in the distance and whispered, "Maybe this isn't…"

Julius' eyebrows shot to the top of his forehead, and his ears perked up, "Maybe what?"

Yuna crossed her arms and pouted, "Fine, I will go out with him. Hopefully I can understand what's so appealling about that lifestyle to you."

Julius got up and walked to the room. He called out, "You know, if you hated being in an open relationship so bad, you could just say that. We can close it if you want."

Yuna snickered and turned back to the TV, "Yeah we could do that. But that's not what you want, is it?"

Julius stopped in the middle of the room, and stared at her. His eyes were wide with something like shock. He shook his head, and continued to walk back to his room.
