Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: The Codex Of Creation - 2

"Oh, that's... comforting..." Ethan felt like he had just been pulled into a massive conspiracy.

"Well, I should be fine as long as I keep myself alive. To think the universe itself could become a potential threat, it's too much, even for me."

He should be fine as long as his soul doesn't enter the cycle of Samsara.

When a person dies, their soul enters the cycle of Samsara, where it is purged of all its past-life experiences and karma before being reincarnated as a new person in a random world.

This process is directly connected to the universe itself.

This cycle applies to every single living being born in his universe.

If an anomaly were ever discovered, the universe would erase it immediately, deeming it an "outsider."

So, it was no wonder that the Codex did what it did.

"Why did it lie dormant until now?" Ethan asked.

If the Codex of Creation had always been within his soul, why hadn't he awakened its abilities in his previous lives?

Ethan narrowed his eyes as he noticed one particular detail in its explanation.

"You said the Codex came to me when I was an infant soul who hadn't even been born yet?"

"Does that mean it came to me when I was a fetus in my mother's womb?" Ethan asked.

"What danger did the Codex see that forced it to transport my soul away?" Ethan spoke with a solemn expression.

"What happened to that infant body, my original body?" Ethan asked, narrowing his eyes.

"Wait a second, you're saying this is my original body?" Ethan asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Then what about the Rapid Adaptability talent? Is that my original talent, the one I was born with?" Ethan asked.

"Oh, is that so? Can you explain why?" Ethan asked curiously.

Ethan spent the next several minutes sorting through his thoughts.

The Codex had answered everything he wanted to know.

He finally understood why he kept waking up in new worlds with new bodies and why he remembered nothing about his family.

In short, all his questions had been answered.

Another crucial revelation was that the Prime World connected to Shinmiya was his original home.

That meant he was close, and if his mother or whoever had survived the catastrophe that sent him away was still alive, he might be able to meet them.

He didn't know what to think, how to feel, or how he would react if he came face-to-face with his mother or any family he had left behind.

He had never felt like this before.

For the first time in his life, Ethan didn't know what he should do or where he should go.

What was his goal now?

What would he do after learning all this?

Usually, whenever he woke up in a new world, his only goals were to grow stronger, enjoy his new life, taste the delicacies, and study the supernatural forces of that world.

But this time it was different.

The idea of returning to the world where he truly belonged, the place where his family might still be alive, completely changed how he saw things.

It was no longer just another temporary world to experience before moving on.

Ethan's eyes drifted to a pair of big, round, red eyes staring at him.

A small black figure shaped like a dragon, curled up on a nearby pet bed, wagged its long tail and blinking at him.

A soft smile formed on his face.

Then his expression hardened again. "I guess I just have to move on like I always did, without worrying about whatever surprises or unexpected situations I might encounter."

"I'll focus on myself and what's in front of me, and let the future me handle the future."

Ethan closed his eyes, took a deep breath, then opened them again, his gaze steady and resolute.

"Codex of Creation," Ethan called out, looking at the ancient black and golden tome floating before him, radiating golden light.

"I'll call you Dex from now on. Is that alright?" Ethan said, standing up as Kagetsu returned to its usual place on his shoulder.

Ethan didn't mind the action. Kagetsu had made itself as small as a couple-of-months-old puppy so it could rest comfortably around his neck.

Its body was soft and squishy, almost liquid-like, much like a cat's.

"Now, tell me, how many functions of the Codex can I access right now?" Ethan asked.

In the next second, the Codex sent the information of the unlocked five functions directly to his mind.

-The Codex automatically harvests your karma and converts it into energy, which it uses as the main source of energy for its operations and functions.

-Remaining Karma: 750,900,999,999

-The Creation function allows you to create anything, whether spiritual, physical, or non-physical, using the harvested karma.

-The amount of karma required depends on your comprehension and understanding of the thing you wish to create.

-Note 1: The higher your knowledge and understanding of the thing you are creating, the less karma is required.

-Note 2: The karma cost can be significantly reduced if you possess a reference, copy, or base structure of the thing you want to create.

-The Integration function allows anything you create to be directly integrated with your soul and physical body, as long as it is physically, spiritually, and practically possible to integrate.

-This is a passive function where the consciousness within the Codex acts as a secondary mind capable of performing all brain functions, such as processing information and alternating sensory functions. It constantly monitors your surroundings for changes and alerts you accordingly.

-This function uses your body as a conduit; the consciousness sees through your eyes, hears through your ears, and senses through your body's range of senses.

-It also grants you a spirit tied to the Codex, with whom you can communicate as if interacting with a realm entity.

-Although passive, this function is completely under your control. You can modify or adjust its capabilities at will.

-This function allows the Parallel Mind to use your meridians to automatically absorb energy, replenishing your energy reserves constantly without the need for manual absorption.

-Note: This function can only replenish the energy you already possess. It cannot introduce a new type of energy, nor can it be used for cultivation or for increasing the maximum limit of your current energy reserves.
