Chapter 2 - Do Things happen by chance or a greater plan?

At night, Fyodor woke up from his early incident and, in looking

for much-needed clarity, He leaves his room seeking fresh

air. While walking down the hall, he hears the shuttering of a window from around the corner, and he hastily ran towards it. He quickly spots Cassandra as she was already picking up the glass. "Good evening, Cassandra", Fyodor said.

Good evening, she replied with no hesitation. Fyodor continued to walk down the hall as a moment of realization dawns upon him. He turns around, and in this moment, the hall begins to feel shorter and narrower, but through some courage or sense of duty, he shouted!

You are not Cassandra, as his hands were shaking with terror and he asked, "Who are you?". The impostor answered Damn kid, you couldn't let this one go, could you?

Fyodor replied, "As the Lord of this manor, you are on my grounds, so answer my questions and let your partner know I can feel his gaze on me".

The impostor answered, "damn, for you to be this aware, what are your abilities?".

"Ability", Fyodor asked.

An ominous, deep voice spoke from outside, "You have already been discovered what a drag". The voice continued What are we to do now? As maggots crawled

From the outside, through the broken window, he started to form into a man. In the same moment, the impostor who was disguised as Cassandra began to melt. With the help of the moonlight, Fyodor was able to make out the looks of both impostors, the first a woman who had long dreadlocks, dark skin, and green

eyes. The second was a man with long dark hair, pitch black eyes, and

pale skin.

As the impostors' real faces were fully reviewed, they looked

directly at the surprised face of Fyodor and told him this is what

She meant by abilities both stated simultaneously.

"Do you still want to know who she is?" the man asked.

b~b- but how is that possible? How did you do that? Is it through

alchemy or maybe chemistry?

The impostors looked at each other, laughed, and started

conversing between themselves. Is this the child whom our

master fears? One who does not even know of the existence of abilities? Before

they went any further, Fyodor interrupted, h~hey l~ll am still~

h~hhere. Now, you brat, have you made up your mind on which question

you want an answer to? The woman asked.

"Both", Fyodor replied.

Now you are getting greedy, brat, they spoke in unison, one last

time, which question do you want answered, who we are, or how we

Did what we did? If you want the answers to both, use your abilities first, the ones

our master fears so badly.

"I have none of these so-called abilities you speak of." Fyodor

spoke softly. This is why l hate kids always lying.

"Thanatos, what do you want to do now that l am

bored?" the woman asked. With a look of annoyance, Thanatos shouted! Cassiopeia, you idiot, now the kid knows my name. She replied while laughing,

Now he knows mine, too. Our mission was to kill him, so this doesn't change anything; I just wish we could have seen those abilities of his.

Hey brat, the woman spoke in a calm tone, which sent a chill down his spine. We are here to kill you. Fyodor started laughing in confusion.

My name is Cassiopeia, and my gloomy partner's name is

Thantos of the Mortem family and its next head. In a moment of terror, Fyodor asked, "Am l about to die for the sins of my forefathers?"

"No, the reason is simply that you were born there is no A

greater reason than that," Thantos answered.

Can I get at least the name of the one who wants me dead?

Cassiopeia answered, "The first and the last, He without an

identity and He who is". In this moment, Fyodor started shaking, scratching himself, and his heart rate rapidly increased as he rambled on, "The bear, fox, and crow have gathered in the same place, and in a moment of choosing, the fox shall devour the crow, no, no no, why Why must I have been driven here, me, my hopes and dreams die, why does it have to be you, the one with an impossible dream that will lead to billions, no trillions of deaths l have seen it, I always see it, and you drag me into it why why why why do you take heaven from my grasp why do you take

this from me, that woman is gonna kill you any minute. Kid she shouted in his ear are you ok? Thanatos, do you sense any ether from him? No, l don't think the energy feels strange but familiar. In an unbroken trance, Fyodor continued to repeat this over and over again.

"Damn kid, you acting senile will not let us spare" Thantos spoke.

"Could this be the ability the boss spoke of?" asked Cassiopeia.

"Why do you ask that he is just rumbling nonsense?" Thantos

said, looking at Cassiopeia suspiciously.

As Fyodor snapped back to reality all his fear was gone, and his face looked so empty of emotions. How about we bargain that you will not kill me, and you will teach me all about these so-called abilities in exchange, l will show you.

The path to your dream. Thantos started laughing. This is a new one, isn't it, Cassiopeia? This brat really thinks he has anything we need.

Cassiopeia asked, "Is what you are promising me true?"

What are you saying, Cassiopeia, as your superior demands you

explain the meaning of this! In an instant, Cassiopeia produced a dagger from her hair and cut Thantos' throat, damn, he survived now, they is no going back, she

spoke as she bit her nails. Thanotos changed into flies and flew away.

Before Cassiopeia can even catch a break from what just happened

A bright red strike flew towards Cassiopeia, and she shouted

damned woman, guess this kid alerted you about me, huh."

Do you remember me, Lady Eta Ursa?", Cassiopeia asked.

Eta whispered Spin and the whole room started to rapidly spin

around. This change of speed in the room seemed to break Fyodor out of

whatever had happened to him, and he began to look around in

confusion. "Mother, what is going on?" he asked.

"How is the room spinning, but you and l are not?"He asked.

Before she could answer, Cassiopeia zoomed across the room,

aiming to kick her torso, but she dodged it. You are pretty fast,

but l remember you being faster, Cassiopeia added.

Her body began to morph, and her physique became more

slender, with her legs becoming thicker. She asked once more Do

you remember me, Eta?" Cassiopeia, is that you?" she asked.

Ding ding ding, you got it right, your price is a single question in

which l will answer no matter what. Why are you here? Who sent

you? And what is the purpose of all this? Dang, I guess we know where the brat gets his greed from.

So he really did it, Cassiopeia whispered to herself, but as she

was distracted, Cassandra held her hand as she stated with a

neutral face, you are now mine if you move, I'm gonna stop your

heart. As Eta braced for round 2, Cassiopeia shouted l surrender that, your

ability is too scary, l don't much care for dying, so l'm done.

Fyodor looks at everyone with confusion, but before he can ask

he collapses on the floor from the shock and adrenaline that was

rushing in his system.

In the morning, Fyodor wakes up and starts to speak to himself

about how last night can only be a dream, and what he saw cannot be

real. In the middle of that thought Cassandra walks in and says

"Good morning, lord, how are you feeling today?"

Without glancing at her, he replied, "Perfectly fine, l have a

question for you? I had a dream in which there were two intruders with

supernatural powers who broke into the mansion last night. How

would you interpret that?"

Cassandra starts laughing as Fyodor looks up at her to see that she

has changed into a different person. Through his whispers, he muttered Cassiopeia. She replies, "That's my name", with a pale, shocked face. Fyodor

screamed for Cassandra, and she came running into the room.

This intruder one whom l saw in my dream, has invaded our

manner. Cassandra replies, "Do you not remember, my Lord, you asked

her to stay and teach you about the world that has been closed

off to you until now?"

Can l see my mother? He asked.

Before Cassandra could reply, Cassiopeia let out a chuckle at

such a request. "Do you find anything funny?" He asked.

She answered, "Not anything particular at this moment".

Suddenly, Lady Ursa walks into the room with a concerned look

on her face. She looks at Fyodor, who was still lying in bed, and

Before she can say anything, Fyodor says, "I am sorry, mother

Hmm, l mean Lady Ursa for not extending a proper greeting to

You this morning". With her usually serious expression she states no need to worry, I'm here to pick you and Cassiopeia up for lunch in the dining

hall so we can talk about last night.

As the three are sitting in the dining hall, eating lunch in

silence. Cassiopeia breaks the silence by asking Fyodor

What do you remember about last night. He replied Not much.

Lady Ursa do you mind if l give him the explanation asked Cassiopeia.

Not at all, be my guest. The name of the Man who wants you Dead is Adam. Why do you say that name as if it has meaning to me? Be patient, you idiot, l didn't finish what l was saying. Hey, mother, are you going to let this whatever she is speak to me so? Yes, please continue Cassiopeia.

l will, my lady. The Adam l am referring to is our ancestor, the

first man to be created.

Although l do not know how he has survived for so long. What l

do know is he is the one who discovered and categorized these

abilities into seven different groups namely: The

Emperor, Justice and Judgment, The Hermit,The Liar,Death,Hang

Man,The world and The Prophet.

These abilities form from your greatest desire and greatest

fear in a very twisted sense. For example, my ability eremita

formed from my desire to be someone else and my fear of

not feeling adequate in who l am. Secondly, these abilities are powered by ether, a substance that's everywhere, but different groups get it from different sources.

Thirdly, everyone on this continent can awaken an ability, but it

only awakens during a moment you come close to death, and you have a strong fear and desire. The fourth thing is once your ability awakens for the first you

8will hear a voice in your head telling you the name of the ability

along with the category it falls into and what you can do at a

baseline level.

"Cassandra, do you have anything to add?" asked Cassiopeia.

Well, l don't know how to go on about this ahh. Can you just spit it out.

l do not believe it's my place to say my lady. So who do you think should speak?

Lady Ursa, can you kindly inform Lady Cassiopeia of what

happened yesterday with the young lord? Cassandra, l permit you to speak on it as you were the one with him. Ok, thank you, my lady. So yesterday, when the young lord woke up, he was fine at first, and out of nowhere, he just went into a

trance similar to yesterday.

Are you telling me he awakened his powers earlier that day and

without going through a life or a death experience.

Well, yes, my lady.

"Fyodor," Cassiopeia shouted Did you hear a voice telling you

The category and name of your ability when it was first activated.

No l did not. "Alright," Cassiopeia said with a worried look on her face, we

need to get ready to leave this place. Something feels off about

this whole situation. What do you mean by leave? This is all l have known for all my

life. You idiot, you are an anomaly. l cannot train you here. If what l

just heard is true, we need to leave now, he is coming for you.

Lady Ursa, my deepest apologies. I am gonna take your son, but l

need you to stay here so that He doesn't get suspicious of our

movements. I understand, but can you also take Cassandra with you?

Yes we can. l fear we have to leave now, as the head start we

have given Thanatos might lead to our own undoing.

Cassandra and l are going to go pack, I think you and the

young lord need to have your goodbyes. Ok. As soon as they left the room, Lady Ursa began to speak. My son, my sweet, wonderful son, I am sorry for what you are about to go through and that l cannot be there with you every step of the

way. I am placing my faith in you to adapt and survive, but until

the day you can return, l will protect our home.
