Naruto sat alone on the edge of his small bed in his apartment, his head in his hands. The memories transmitted back from his shadow clone flashed through his mind—the world-destroying Great Spiraling Ring, the terrified expressions of the Konoha ninja, the charred body of the Raikage...
I... did I make too big of a scene...
The memories from the shadow clone felt as if he had experienced them himself, allowing him to clearly feel the—almost arrogant—confidence he had when unleashing that jutsu.
Am I... really a chuunibyou?
The thought made his ears burn. Those exaggerated lines, those grand declarations, thinking back on them now was cringey to the extreme. Especially that line:
"Either obediently live on, chewing on the rotten fruit of peace... or let me teach you what a real war is!"
How did I even say something like that!
Naruto rolled around on his bed, burying his face in his blanket. But he quickly forced himself to calm down and began to analyze the logic of his shadow clone's actions.
About the organization's name—[JIN].
Why did he choose that name? Through memory sharing, he felt the shadow clone's thought process at the time.
Simple, direct, powerful.
Like the [Akatsuki], a single-character name was both easy to remember and intimidating. "Jin" (cinders/ashes) meant to burn the flames of war to the ground, turning them to ash. The character represented both destruction and an end.
It sounds cool... but isn't it a bit too pretentious?
He remembered the shadow clone had considered a few other options. [Tenbatsu] (Divine Punishment) was too haughty, as if claiming to be a god.
[MUKYŪ] (No Blame/Faultless) was too literary, not direct enough.
[INGUN] (Fallen Army) was too specific, only targeting armies.
[Paradox Cage], meaning to treat war as a paradox and lock it in a cage forever... was immediately rejected because even the shadow clone found it a mouthful.
In the end, he chose "Jin" as a nod to the Akatsuki; a single-character name really did have more impact.
About the superficial goal—"to stop war through threats."
This reason sounded noble, but in reality... in the original timeline, the Third Great Ninja War had already ended, and there were no major wars between the great nations after that, aside from the fourth one...
This was just a cover.
The real purpose was to use this opportunity to secretly recruit those ninja who couldn't be recruited through "orthodox means"—these people might have eccentric personalities or extreme ideologies, but without exception, they all possessed great power.
The future enemy... was the Otsutsuki.
Relying on the five great nations fighting on their own, it was impossible to stand against those monsters from outer space. There had to be an organization that transcended the boundaries of ninja villages, a force that could unite all "unconventional combat power."
And [JIN] was the first step of this plan.
Naruto took a deep breath and sat up. Outside the window, Konoha had returned to peace. The villagers had no idea that the "masked man" who had nearly destroyed their village was currently sitting in this small apartment in the form of a three-year-old child.
The methods were a bit extreme... but this is the path I must take.
All of this is to accumulate enough power... before the real apocalypse arrives.
This conflict, despite miraculously causing no casualties, created a nuclear-level sensation in the ninja world.
The evidence was there for all to see—the giant crater outside Konoha village, almost as large as the village itself.
Just as Naruto had intended, the names [JIN] and "Menma" spread rapidly throughout the ninja world. One could even say that the Hidden Cloud's propaganda was a bit overzealous. Through diplomatic channels, black market bounties, and underground intelligence networks, they greatly exaggerated Menma's terror.
The Raikage, the face and strongest warrior of the Hidden Cloud, had been critically injured, on the verge of death.
The Hidden Cloud, known for its "fight first, ask questions later" attitude, had strictly forbidden any actions that might provoke Menma, even with their Raikage on his deathbed. Even the most radical warhawks fell silent after seeing the crater outside Konoha.
On Konoha's side, the Third Hokage had to recuperate for a long time after the battle to even barely recover. But as the Kage of a village, he had to stabilize the situation as quickly as possible.
He first selected elites from the ANBU to form a special reconnaissance team responsible for gathering all intelligence on "Menma." However, the Third specifically instructed them—do not go too deep. If any abnormalities were found, they must immediately terminate the pursuit and not take any risks.
Then, he urgently recalled Jiraiya and Tsunade, who were traveling abroad, in an attempt to stabilize public morale with the return of the legendary Sannin.
At the same time, Konoha mobilized all the Earth Style users in the village to begin filling the shocking crater outside the village. It was a massive project, but it had to be completed as soon as possible, not just to repair the landscape, but also to eliminate the terrifying symbol that served as a constant reminder that "destruction is just around the corner."
Interestingly, on the Hidden Stone's side, the Tsuchikage, Onoki, publicly condemned the Hidden Cloud, accusing them of "trying to steal a chicken only to lose the rice" foolishness. Then, a high-value bounty quietly appeared on the black market, offering a huge sum for any information on Menma and [JIN].
That old geezer, openly gloating, but secretly trying to contact the organization that has the whole ninja world terrified?
At the same time, the Hidden Mist Village, still secretly controlled by Obito, also reacted.
Obito was highly vigilant of this suddenly appearing powerhouse. When did such a figure appear in the ninja world? He worried that this variable would interfere with the Eye of the Moon Plan and immediately ordered Black Zetsu to gather all intelligence on [JIN].
The two schemers hidden behind masks felt the unease of their plans slipping from their control.
And in the Hidden Rain Village, the leader of the yet-to-act Akatsuki, Nagato, learned of this world-shaking event through his intelligence network. What caught his attention even more was Menma's publicly declared ideology—[to end war with fear].
This ideology resonated with Nagato in a strange way. They were both trying to achieve peace through extreme means, but their methods were completely different. Menma chose to become the public enemy of the entire ninja world, using absolute military might to suppress war.
Nagato's plan was more radical—he planned to collect the Tailed Beasts, create a weapon capable of destroying a country in a single blow, and then use this power to cause mass casualties, making the nations understand the horror of war through the pain of losing countless lives, thus fearing war itself.
But after careful consideration, Nagato decided to try and contact the [JIN] organization. Facing this "colleague" who also wanted to achieve peace through extreme means, he wanted to test the possibility of cooperation.
Of course, if their ideologies clashed, he, with his Rinnegan, was confident he would not lose.
It wasn't all bad. A strange calm fell over the ninja world. After seeing the crater outside Konoha, all the major ninja villages were in a state of panic. They worried that one day Menma would suddenly appear above their village and casually drop a "Great Spiraling Ring."
So, all the countries tacitly ordered a halt to all diplomatic conflicts. Even the small-scale border skirmishes that had been going on for years came to an abrupt end.
Then, something even stranger happened. No matter how the five great nations investigated, no matter how high the bounties they offered, the person known as Menma seemed to have vanished from the face of the earth, without a single trace. The [JIN] organization was even more silent, as if it had never existed.
After all, the terrifying existence that had the whole ninja world trembling was now just a three-year-old child—no one would ever believe that.
