"I don't know whose flag this is, but it's a promise of life," Luffy declared, looking at Wapol. "This flag isn't a toy for you to play around with! Someone like you has no right to destroy it!"
Luffy told Chopper that he was going to take care of Wapol. The king prepared to shoot at Luffy again, but Sanji moved to stop him. Doctor Kureha pulled Sanji back down, saying he was too hurt to fight.
"Enough!" Chopper shouted, running forward to punch Wapol, but his attack was blocked by Chessmarimo.
"Go, Chopper! Crush them!" I yelled, offering some encouragement from the side.
"You don't have a single friend in this place, so why are you bothering to help this empire?" Chessmarimo asked Chopper.
"It doesn't matter," Chopper replied. "As long as the doctor's flag is here, I'll keep fighting!"
"Who says he doesn't have any friends?" Luffy yelled, catapulting himself from the tower. "I'm his friend!"
I walked through the snow to get next to Luffy. "Chopper, you can handle that guy, right?" I asked, gesturing to Chessmarimo. "Luffy and I will take care of the big mouth."
Chopper told the duo he would beat them in just three minutes using the power of his Rumble Ball. He worked quickly against the two of them. Luffy and I hadn't even made an attack yet, and Chopper already had them on the ropes.
"The Rumble Ball lets me transform into seven different forms," Chopper explained.
"That's so cool!" Luffy said, amazed.
I slapped him upside the head. "Will you focus!"
Chopper put his hands together and began scanning his opponent. Luffy insisted that he was going to shoot a beam at them. At this point, all eyes were on Chopper. We weren't even fighting Wapol anymore.
"I saw it! It's his chin!" Chopper exclaimed.
What's he talking about?
Chopper ran forward and changed into his arm point form with giant, muscular arms. "Cloven Rose!"
He knocked Chessmarimo down with a single blow. Luffy was completely amazed by the display, but I had more important things on my mind.
"Where'd he go?" I asked, noticing that Wapol had run off.
"He must still be around here somewhere," Doctrine said. "He can't have gone far."
Luffy and I ran inside the castle, figuring that was where Wapol had gone. We searched through the castle until we found Wapol. He was much slimmer now and was chasing after Nami.
"Whip Crush!"
I swatted Wapol away from Nami, protecting her.
"How'd he get so skinny?" Luffy asked.
Nami wasn't happy about what Luffy had done to her jacket. She said she'd be charging him for the damage to her expensive coat. Wapol told us he was going to open his armory and eat all the weapons inside. However, when he tried to open it, he discovered that the key was missing.
"I still have one last trick left!" Wapol said, running away.
"Get back here!" Luffy yelled, running after him with me not far behind.
We chased the king up the spiral staircase in the center of the castle, all the way to the top, where we found a large cannon. When he tried to fire it, nothing happened. A small bird just flew out.
"Snow birds!" Luffy pointed out, seeing the small birds clogging up the cannon.
My rubber friend ran up and grabbed Wapol by the face. "I don't care if you're a king or if you're a god. I'm a pirate, and I'll kick your ass no matter what!"
"Don't be stupid! Drum Kingdom is a member of the World Government! If you hurt me, you'll be enemies of the world!" Wapol pleaded.
"He already told you. We don't care!" I said, wrapping my whip around Wapol's waist.
Wapol opened his mouth and revealed a cannon inside. "Tongue Cannon!"
He fired his mouth gun but only hit a wall. Luffy and I had already moved behind him.
"You underestimated us," I taunted.
Luffy grabbed Wapol by his shoulders and spun himself around. "Let me go!" Wapol shouted.
"Gum-Gum Bowgun!" Luffy launched the man up into the rafters and through the top of the tower.
Luffy and I jumped up to the top and found Wapol trapped. He tried to plead with us again, but we were already attacking.
"Gum-Gum..."
"Whip..."
"...Bazooka!" "...Gale-force!"
The man went flying off into the distance, far out of our sight.
"We're done," I said.
"Zoro! Usopp!" Luffy yelled, catapulting off the roof and down into the courtyard.
"How'd you guys get up here?" I asked.
"We took the ropeway," Vivi explained. Guess we're on speaking terms.
"What were you guys doing up there?" Rose asked.
"Getting rid of that stupid king," Luffy told her.
Dalton, the man who had led the others into town, asked if we had defeated Wapol and what had happened to the two grunts from earlier. Luffy told him that the reindeer had taken care of them.
"Thank you very much," Dalton said, bowing. "This country can become a better place now."
When a large crowd of people came up from the cable cars, they were shocked to see Chopper, but Dalton defended the reindeer to keep them from attacking him. Usopp was amazed to see the bipedal reindeer, and Chopper got scared by all the people staring at him and ran off.
"Look what you did, Usopp! That was our new crew member!" Luffy yelled at him.
Luffy wasted no time and ran after Chopper. Dr. Kureha ushered all the injured inside, including Nami and Sanji.
Later
Some time passed before we were getting ready to leave. I wanted to talk to Vivi, but she was inside with Nami, and I didn't want to interrupt. Luffy was running around looking for Chopper, who was trying to stay hidden.
"Maybe he just doesn't want to be a pirate," Rose said.
"No, he does," I told her. "He just doesn't want to leave his home."
"I want to thank you," Chopper said, walking out from behind a corner.
"Be a pirate with us!" Luffy yelled at him.
"I can't! I want to, but I can't," Chopper shouted. "I'm not human! I'm a monster! I can't be your friend. Thank you for asking!"
"Shut up! Let's go!" Luffy yelled, throwing his arms up.
"HAHAHA!" I laughed. "Come on, it'll be fun!"
Tears poured down Chopper's face, and his nose was all runny. "Okay!" he said.
Chopper went inside to say goodbye while the rest of us waited for him. Luffy and Usopp had gone to ready the lift for us to leave.
"He's coming," Zoro pointed out, as he saw the reindeer running toward us.
"Everyone, get on the sled! We're leaving!" Chopper said, running out.
We all climbed into the sled while Chopper ran, pulling it down the ropeway and into town. Luffy wanted to go down again, but we reminded him that we had places to be. When we got into the forest, Chopper stopped the sled and changed forms.
"It's beautiful," Nami whispered.
Chopper was touched by the sight. The snow falling from the sky had turned pink, making the mountains look like giant cherry blossoms.
After watching the snow for a while, we returned to the ship, where we had to fish a frozen Karoo out of the water. Apparently, he had jumped in after Zoro and had gotten frozen solid. Those two were supposed to be watching the ship. What the hell were they doing?
"Time to set sail for Alabasta!" I yelled as Zoro lifted the anchor.
"Let's have a party!" Luffy shouted.
Luffy shoved chopsticks up his nose and danced around. He even got Chopper to join in. I explained to the others that Chopper was going to be the doctor on our ship. Everyone gathered around for a toast.
"Let's drink to our new friend!" Usopp yelled as we all clinked our mugs together to celebrate the arrival of our new doctor.
NO POV
"Dalton, sir!" a man said, running out of the castle.
"What is it?" Dalton asked.
The man handed Dalton two bounty posters for men who had just left the island: "Straw Hat" Luffy and "Torturer" Steve. The man explained that someone had passed through town looking for Blackbeard. Since he didn't find him, he asked about the men on the posters. He had left a message for the two.
"Tell them I'll wait for them in Alabasta for ten days," the man had said. "If Luffy or Steve come through, tell them that Ace left this message."
