A whole week has gone by once again. Today was another Saturday, a weekend that should have been exciting for two families, but one family, along with the other, is grieving. A family grieving for the loss of a man, a father, and a husband.
Both the Parkers and Ijichis are all in a funeral home, with other people, either Arawareru's family, friends who got to know him, or anyone who got along with the man whose photo was being held by Senatsu, who, along with her two daughters, left and right, all three sobbing.
Sekinin, standing between his aunt and uncle as he watched in pure guilt, could still remember Nijika crying, Seika sobbing, and Senatsu's grief and agony when they all heard what happened.
"(It all my fault they are like this.)"
Sekinin thought, hating himself for his failure, that if he had caught Hikaru Kamiki. Arawareru would still be alive, the female Ijichis wouldn't be in this funeral with a picture of Arawareru along with a coffin that had his body inside. Then nobody would be able to experience this pain, but here they all are, everyone gathered for the one man whom everyone cared for and loved.
Sekinin couldn't recall much of his parents' funeral, all he knew was that he was hearing his own crying throughout the whole thing. Wishing they both were still here with him, ignoring everything and everyone around him.
And after he witnessed what actually happened at a funeral, he didn't want to even recall it, as it was too painful. By the time it was done, Sekinin didn't think the pain was going to be that much more suffering to bear.
All he could think back on during the whole thing was that there was a tradition where everyone offered money and incense. Everyone dresses in black, the most obvious thing to wear at funerals. Arawareru body being… To where Senatsu is holding on to his ashes. It was hard for Sekinin to either forget or accept.
And right now, the two families are in the Ijichi home, with everyone, including the extended family, gathered around a small shrine, a shrine with candles, flowers, and a photo of Arawareru. A shrine that was similar to the one in the Parker home, but with the pictures of Richard and Mary. In this exact moment, no one spoke, just pure silence.
Then, suddenly, as if everyone saw a blur, someone quickly left the living room, and Sekinin knew who had left as he quickly followed. All the way to Nijika's room, where he had heard a door slam shut. He stops in front of the door as he carefully knocks.
"Nijika, it's me… Do you mind if I come in?"
No response, only the faint sounds of sobs. Sekinin just entered as he didn't receive a yes or no, but decided to enter. Her room was usually clean with plushies and anything a girl can have, but after a week, it looked messy. Nijika was on her bed, covered in her blanket, as if to hide herself away from the world.
Sekinin carefully made his way to her, avoiding breaking anything that was on the ground. Once he reached the bed, he sat down and placed a hand on her, in which he hoped it was her back. He began talking to her.
"I know what it's like to lose a father. Your father was like my father, a good man with a loving family. A beautiful wife, two wonderful daughters. I'm sorry that I couldn't catch the bastard, Nijika. I'm sorry that justice hasn't been served. If anything, you should blame me for allowing all of this to happen."
For why he said that was throughout the week, Officer Yuri had come by to his home, and the look on the officer's face when he came by made Sekinin feel even more guilt, as it showed it wasn't good news at all.
Hikaru Kamiki had vanished completely from the public eye. Yuri and a few officers went to search his home after getting information on where he lived, only to find no one at his home. And after searching and inspecting he was declared wanted as they found pictures from hiding spots, pictures of idols that were long dead or recent.
And the fact that the pictures were found, as well as the spots it was found in, shows that they were recently grabbed and taken, but couldn't get everything. As if Hikaru was hiding something so dark, which was soon revealed by what was found, is that Hikaru was declared a suspect in the deaths of all the idols.
Whether he is the main culprit or an associate is still unknown, but what really matters is that they couldn't waste more time than they already did as they did their best in trying to find him.
But after a week, no new information was heard or told about him. As if it were all a dead end, and justice could not be served. Sekinin never felt so much anger in his life, he wondered if that day was his only chance to see Hikaru Kamiki in the streets. His only chance to catch him.
A scum was hiding and no one knew where he was, not even the company called Lala Lai, where Hikaru worked as an actor, had any leads on where he might be. He could, by chance, change his appearance and continue his work by causing more deaths to idols and lives from families.
Something that Sekinin declared in his mind that he would not allow. He truly felt that everything, including Arawareru's death, was his own fault, and he is going to make sure he makes it up to him. But right now he has to console his best friend.
Nijika didn't move, still crying, Sekinin knew what he was about to do would be forceful, but she needed to know that she was not alone. So he yanked off the blanket but made sure he didn't accidentally fling her, and grabbed her arm as he put her in a hug.
"Let it all out, Nijika. It will not stop me from helping you. Your sister and mother will be there for you and will ensure you all get through this. My aunt and uncle will help too. The pain will never go away, but that will not stop me from healing it, it will not stop me from doing what is right for you."
As if that was enough to break a dam with all the water threatening to come out and cause a massive flood. It was enough for Nijika to go full out bawling as she tightly held Sekinin as if for dear life. He just sat still, tightly holding onto her, stroking her blond hair, whispering comforting words to her.
Never letting go, until she let out the pain she held inside.
A few hours had gone by, and soon Sekinin was in his room, looking through his closet for a few things. Things that he'll need for tonight.
Once he found what he was looking for, he took out a red sweater with no hoodie, with blue fabric on the arms and the back of the top body, as it looked nearly finished. A mask with a white see-through lens with a few black lines that resemble something. Blue pants with the lower part in red fabric, with red shoes.
He placed them all on his desk as he took out a sewing kit and began to finish the mask. It was 9 PM, as it was already night out there, he didn't want to waste any more time and was determined to find Hikaru, wherever the scum was hiding.
"Sekinin, are you in here?"
With no hesitation, he immediately hides what seems to be a nearly finished homemade suit underneath his bed as he quickly acts like he's been finishing his homework while still having sorrow, which isn't easy to get rid of or pretend as if it's still there.
Uncle Ben opened the door as he saw his nephew working on an assignment. Something that Ben would have thought nothing of, but considering everything happening throughout the week, he felt that he should talk with his nephew.
"We'll be having breakfast at Senatsu's home, which you already know. You, your aunt, and I will be there for them. They help us with our losses; now it is our turn to help them. Like your aunt said 'you help someone, you help everyone.'"
Sekinin nodded as he muttered, "I understand, Uncle Ben," as he put away his nearly finished homework; all it needed was one more answer to solve, but right now it wasn't important to him.
"Make sure you get plenty of rest, kiddo. We'll be there in the morning, so make sure to sleep. Everything will be okay, even if it is not us this time, we have the experience to help them, we will make sure they get through this."
He smiled as he patted Sekinin as he left the room, not before turning off the lights and closing the door. Sekinin waited for a minute to make sure his uncle had gone to his room before carefully getting off his bed, taking out the suit, and going back to his desk and turning on the desk lamp.
"Just a few more lines on the top here… How does Aunt May do this!?"
He whispers to himself, recalling how many times he hurt himself with the needles. Thankfully it was just 2-3 lines before Sekinin let out a sigh of relief as he held up a mask, until he looked at his sweater.
"I think a black spider logo will be perfect on the front of the sweater, and perhaps a red spider on the back. Where are those Sharpies?"
He quietly grabbed red and black Sharpies as he drew two spiders on the sweater. Once he checked everything else he nodded to himself that he was ready. He quietly put his suit on, commenting in his mind that he was lucky he was able to get the measurements right. After he put it on, he turned on the lights and looked at himself in the mirror.
"Hmm… Not bad… I think I could have made a better suit. I think once I'm skillful enough to not hurt myself with needles, then I can make a better-looking suit like what I'm wearing."
He turns off the lights and lamp as he tiptoes to his window. He can see the moon from where he is watching as he opens the window and sticks it on the wall. He closes the window behind him as he leaps to a street lamp. He landed on the top with perfect balance as he looked around in the streets.
"Alright… Time for Tokyo to have a guardian protecting them."
He immediately jumped off the street lamp as he shot out a web line on a nearby home that had more floors than a normal house should have. He held the web as gravity took over, but instead of crashing on the ground, which nearly happened, he was lifted in the air just high enough as he let go of the web before shooting out another web at another home.
It happened a few more times, falling before going back up in the air, swinging from one building to another. The feeling of growing excitement in him with every swing. Sekinin never felt this excited to feel so free, to use his webs for something that nobody would even dream of or think of. Something he didn't think would feel this fun and exciting.
But that quickly died down as he remembered the reason why he was out here tonight. To find Hikaru Kamiki, even if there aren't any clues of where he is, there could be a chance that he could be wandering through the dark as it is possibly the only way he could roam through Tokyo.
Sure the chances are slim, but he has the power to do something, the power to make things right. The power to protect.
Even if he might run into different situations and get himself in trouble with thugs or creeps, if he could save whoever is still out here in this hour and give them the chance to still see their loved ones, then it would be all the better than letting another life be lost because of someone who decided that killing is their choice of action.
So throughout the first five minutes of silence swinging, he soon noticed that he was no longer in his neighborhood but in Shimokitazawa, and he felt more familiar with the area. He searched around, looking everywhere to see anything suspicious or something to take note of.
Suddenly, he spotted two men following a young girl as she was desperate to lose the two men that are following her. Sekinin immediately followed suit as he landed on a nearby building he stuck on the wall as he saw the young teen entering an alleyway, something that made Sekinin feel very conflicted.
He enters the alleyway and uses the darkness to his advantage as he can hear the two men slowly approaching her. It seems the alleyway was a dead end as she, unfortunately, got herself in more trouble.
"Hehe, tonight is our lucky day, isn't it?"
One of the men spoke with a voice that sounded so disgusting that Sekinin immediately jumped off the wall and landed between the two men and the young girl.
"You know, some criminals or perverts always make sure to check if there isn't anyone around. Then again perverts always do unimaginable things without thinking."
Sekinin spoke as the girl didn't know if she should calm down at the sudden appearance of someone or feel more dread if the third person was with them. But the two men were clearly irritated that someone decided to interrupt what they were about to do.
"Move it, kid! If you don't know what's good for you then run away while you can."
"Ha! Look at this kid's outfit, it looks like an otaku playing dress up!"
The two men prepare their fists as it is clear they are going to use violence to get what they want. But for Sekinin, he just said nothing but instead used both of his wrists as he launched two web shots on both of their faces.
"What the!? What is this!?"
The two immediately tried to remove the webbing on their faces, but they weren't given the chance as Sekinin instantly kicked the first guy to the ground while punching the other, which launched him to the wall. It made a dent in the wall. He made sure to wrap up their bodies so that they wouldn't escape.
It was quite the sight to see the two men who looked so confident now squirming to escape the strong web. To think it was this easy, then…
"Huh… Not bad for my first crime takedown."
Sekinin mutters to himself before turning to the young girl, he notices that she was wearing a disguise, but unlike the idol he met… This one was only wearing a baseball hat and sunglasses while wearing a white hoodie. She also has blue-purpleish hair that looks… Very familiar.
"Are you okay?"
He asked her as she slowly nodded her head as it seemed she had a lot of questions. But before she could say anything something else put more shock on her. In her view, the person dressed in red and blue just did a backflip and was climbing on the wall.
"The police should be… Here they come. Hey, make sure not to wander out at this kind of hour, at least bring a friend or someone you trust next time."
The two can hear sirens from a distance as Sekinin continues to climb to the roof of the building. Before he could, he was called out by the girl he just saved.
"W-Wait! Uh… Thank you. Who are you?"
Sekinin stopped his movement for a second, after what felt like a tense moment between the two, he spoke up.
"I'm your Friendly Neighborhood Spider. I'm the Spider."
He then leaped off the wall and swung out of the alleyway with the girl watching him go, never taking her eyes off him until he was out of her sight. She just stood there motionless as she didn't notice the police looking at an unusual scene that awaited them.
A small blush appeared on her face as she felt something that suddenly moved in her body. A feeling that she felt just a few weeks ago when she met an interesting person, until she learned of what happened last week, about what that person did. Unlike the previous person, she felt… Safe when she was saved by the person who called himself the Spider.
"...Spidey."
Sekinin didn't hear what she said as he was long gone as he was swinging once again from one building to the next. He even tried to attempt some actions while swinging but it obviously looks like he needs to work on his swinging before he could do something like that.
Before he could do anything, while swinging, he could hear police sirens again, but with a car screeching as Sekinin immediately assumed it was a car chase. A car chase that might…
He quickly swung to where the noises were coming, as a car chase was indeed happening, as he could hear gunshots being fired at the police cars. Sekinin uses his swinging to his advantage, as it seems he can go to a quicker speed depending on how he swings, so he decides to use his webs to launch himself down for a quicker movement.
And sure enough, it worked, and he was able to catch up with the speeding car, as whoever is driving is doing their hardest to lose the cops, running over anything that is in its way. And there are people quickly avoiding the car in fear of being run over.
Sekinin immediately landed on the top of the car as his landing caused someone in the car to panic as they turned the car to a nearby store. Sekinin shot dozens of webs around the car and to nearby buildings and street lamps to not only to avoid a car crash but to make sure the car turned to avoid running into the nearby store.
He quickly made sure to pull his webs so that the car would stop completely and get stuck on his webs. The amount of strength his webs have was something astonishing to take note of, but Sekinin focused on who was in the driver's seat as his spider-sense quickly alerted him of incoming danger.
*BANG*
*BANG*
*BANG*
He quickly avoids the bullets being fired towards him as he web shoots the person's face and yanks their gun away. Then he webbed up the person to make sure they didn't escape as he made sure there were no casualties other than his webs all over the car.
Speaking of which, it looks very expensive which makes Sekinin wonder who it belongs to. But before he could think of it, he heard the sirens as Sekinin quickly swung as he knew what he was doing was vigilantism. Plus, he didn't want to reveal his identity to the authorities as well; his powers are his secret to keep, and so is his face.
He landed on a nearby wall with no light to look back at the scene he made as Sekinin saw the expression the cops have on their faces when they saw the car they were chasing is now trapped by webs.
"Two crimes stop within 15 minutes. Hmm…"
He watched on for a few more seconds before leaping off again and swinging to wherever he was going, the growing excitement of web swinging still lingering on him. But right now, he has to stop whatever crime is happening out there on this seemingly normal night.
Hopefully to even find a familiar black hoodie bastard wandering in the streets.
So throughout the night, and the next day, people would talk to whoever would listen about a masked individual in red and blue. Words spoke about how he is stopping petty people from going after innocents to either rob them in broad daylight or in the dark, stopping speeding cars from crashing with webs coming out of his hands, or using his bare strength.
Saving people from being mugged or having their lives threatened by weapons or delinquents. All stop by that same person who always arrives just in time.
Teens using their phones, recording the only person who is swinging all over places like Shibuya, Minato, Shinjuku, even Setagaya, anywhere in Tokyo, quickly learns of this vigilante stopping crime. Making sure that the victims or innocents who were involved were okay and received help and care.
People praise him, fear him, curse him, but one thing that everyone can agree on, he is always there at the moment where everything matters, to make everyone feel that there is someone that can be there, ready to stop whatever is happening, Depending when guns are involve, group of thugs concerning a single guy, or anything that would make people hope that someone will save them.
But everyone has a lot of questions in their head. Why is this person doing this? What could he accomplish by doing what the police are already doing? What is the point of him getting involved with other people's business?
On top of Tokyo Tower, a lone individual watches over everything he can see, enjoying the view that many people have the privilege to see. But unlike everyone, he is standing on the very top of the tower, which everyone viewed as dangerous to be at. Watching over everything he swore to protect.
He jumped off as he made a head dive to the ground until he began swinging with shocking speed. Chasing what seems to be another crime in progress. You can always count on him to save the day, even when not many people would appreciate it.
He is your one and only Friendly Neighborhood Spider.
