Chapter 28 - Chapter 20: Vitrum's Purgatory

The Ark tore through the veil of the Warp, throwing the burning remains of the test area into nothingness.

Inside the bridge, the low hum of the engine could not dispel the heaviness under the blue light of the medical bay.

Dark purple blood clung to Mark's tattered battle suit, and his golden-red pupils were like red-hot irons, welded to the planet in the center of the star map that exuded an icy, iron-blooded pressure.

Vitrum Prime.

It is surrounded by layers of defensive light spots, like a sleeping war monster.

"Arrived at the outer cordon of the main galaxy." The robot's voice was still cold.

"'Latent mode activated."

The Vitrum Prime Star's defense system incorporates unknown space technology, and its concealment time... cannot be accurately estimated."

"Target coordinates?"

Mark's voice was like sandpaper on steel.

"Deep Well Zero, the restricted area at the core of the main planet."

"Energy signature of 'Star Core Fragment-7' confirmed!"

The robot projected a diagram of the structure deep within the core of the mantle, shrouded in an ominous dark purple.

"Path planning: utilizing the particle turbulence belt in the eye of the Antarctic storm to penetrate, but the shield will be under extreme pressure."

"Execute." Mark said without hesitation.

The Ark slid towards the entrance of purgatory where a red energy storm was surging, like a cosmic ghost.

The violent particle stream hit the shield like billions of steel needles, electric arcs exploded wildly, and the spacecraft groaned in the raging waves.

"Shield load 98%... critical point!" the alarm shrieked.

"Charge!" Mark shouted.

Engine blue light skyrocketed!

The Ark was like a red-hot javelin, piercing fiercely into the violent core of the eye of the storm!

The porthole was instantly engulfed by destructive red and silver, the metal structure let out a dying wail, and the shield value soared red!

boom--!!!

The sky and the earth were shaking violently, and the main screen was covered with snowflakes, but under the extreme cover of this chaotic storm, the space folding effect was stimulated to the limit!

After a few seconds of hellish flight, the spaceship suddenly broke free from the storm!

Below is the southernmost pole of Vitrum Prime, covered in metallic frost.

Overhead, the cold outline of a steel dome hung in the thin atmosphere.

"Countdown to camouflage failure: 5...4..."

The robot's relentless countdown hammered at the nerves.

"Drop pod! Launch!"

Mark's voice cut through all hesitation.

Swish! Boom!

Three heavy shuttle-shaped airborne pods were like iron spears shot from giant crossbows, spewing blue flames from their tails, tearing through the thin atmosphere and heading towards the only conspicuous huge alloy gate in the wasteland.

The entrance to Deep Well Zero, a desperate dive!

However, the expected devastating concentrated fire from the orbital defense array did not arrive immediately.

The airdrop pod broke through the thin atmosphere, and the scene below made the three people's pupils shrink suddenly!

The Antarctic wasteland of Vitrum's main star is no longer a dead metal land, but a boiling furnace of war!

Everywhere you look, there's war!

The towering alloy buildings were filled with billowing smoke and flames. The huge energy beams were like the scythe of the god of death, madly shooting and cutting at the city skyline!

Countless small aircraft were like a frenzied swarm of bees, fighting, chasing, and exploding at low altitude, falling to the ground with thick smoke!

On the ground, the Vitrum army, wearing different types of armor and belonging to different factions, was fighting fiercely.

The hissing of energy weapons, the loud noise of metal clashing, the dying roars of soldiers and the roar of explosions all come together to form a symphony of madness and despair!

The order that the empire is proud of has collapsed!

Loyalists, rebels, local separatist forces... countless factions have launched a bloody struggle in the heart of this empire for power, ideals, or survival!

"Large-scale civil unrest detected!" The robot scanned quickly.

"The orbital defense network is experiencing severe internal interference! Some arrays are offline, some are controlled by different factions, and attack priorities are confused!"

"This is an opportunity! But the surface environment... is extremely dangerous!"

The airdrop capsule where Mark was located was like a bird flying into a storm, and immediately became a conspicuous target in the melee. Several energy beams coming from nowhere instantly locked onto it!

"Avoid!" Mark roared amid the violent turbulence.

The airborne capsule made an extreme maneuver, narrowly brushing past several crimson beams of light. The scorching heat made the cabin walls glow red, but more stray bullets and explosion shock waves continued to bombard the cabin, and the alarm sounded deafening!

"42% of the external armor is damaged! The thrusters are damaged!" the robot reported urgently.

"Prepare for a hard landing!" Mark cut the safety rope, and his golden-red pupils penetrated the thick smoke and locked onto a relatively open metal square below, where two Vitrum teams were engaged in a fierce gunfight.

"Eve! Rudy! Follow me!"

The airdrop capsule, trailing billowing black smoke, slammed into the center of the chaotic battlefield like an out-of-control meteorite!

boom--!!!!!

The violent impact caused the alloy ground of the square to collapse, and the airdrop capsule disintegrated with the harsh sound of metal twisting, and smoke and flames rose into the sky!

Before the smoke and dust had cleared, three figures rushed out like cheetahs!

What greeted them was dense energy beams coming from all directions, regardless of friend or foe!

The scarlet beams of the loyalists and the blue rays of the rebels intertwined into a web of death!

"Find cover!" Mark shouted, his body turned into a blurry shadow, and instantly appeared behind a huge piece of alloy wreckage!

The energy beam exploded behind him, leaving a scorch mark!

Eve pressed her hands hard on the ground, and the scattered metal fragments in front of her were attracted by a magnet and instantly gathered into a twisted but thick temporary shield!

Puff puff puff

The energy beam hit the shield, creating energy ripples!

"Damn it! The Vitrum people are crazy!"

Rudy cursed, rolled over and hid behind the half-destroyed turret, and threw a concussion bomb at a group of soldiers with unfamiliar emblems on their armor who were trying to approach.

boom!

The blast blew away several soldiers.

Relying on the ruins and the temporary shelter built by Eve, as well as Rudy's crazy blasting, the three of them struggled to shuttle through the chaotic battlefield and rushed towards the No. 0 Deep Well Gate in the distance, which looked like the mouth of a giant beast.

Every step was taken on craters, debris and corpses that had not yet cooled down.

Mark was like a hurricane tearing through the defense line. All the soldiers who tried to stop him, no matter which side they were on, were ruthlessly crushed by his pure speed and strength!

Break necks, smash breastplates, kick heads off...

Every strike was accompanied by the harsh sound of bones breaking and metal twisting. It was efficient, deadly, and without any mercy.

He just wanted to open a bloody path to his goal.

Eve's face was pale and her hair was soaked with sweat.

Her control over matter was like a precise embroidery needle in the chaotic battlefield. She had to block stray bullets and clear obstacles for Mark and Rudy, which consumed a huge amount of energy.

Rudy's bomb became the most effective tool for clearing the area. The flames of the explosion continued to bloom in the melee crowd, creating brief gaps in chaos.

Just when they broke through an obstacle formed by the wreckage of heavy vehicles and were less than a kilometer away from the deep well gate!

Something strange happened suddenly!
