Chapter 37 - Chapter 37 Family War Council

Klee, of course, was a witch's daughter and thus a witch herself. She loved fishing with bombs so much that she didn't want to leave, so after Jack said hello to Jean, she stayed here.

As for Lisa, she was the main magic DPS for the Fire Dragon siege battle.

Originally, Jack hadn't considered her. Her position should have been filled by a certain Anemo god whom Jack had lured over with two or three bottles of Dandelion Wine.

Lisa took the magic scroll, her fingers trembling slightly as she flipped through the spellbook.

Is this… otherworld magic that requires no price?

No, that's not right, there is a price. It's just having to bear ten or eight children for a certain person.

Thinking of this, Lisa blushed, a rare occurrence for her.

But very quickly, the new magical knowledge immersed her.

Lisa held the spellbook, gently pointing at Jack.

"Blitz!"

A slight tingling sensation came over him.

Out of trust in Lisa, Jack did not resist.

Then, a translucent shield appeared on his body.

"It was indeed cast, Keqing, try hitting me."

"Alright!"

Keqing summoned her enchanted Diamond Sword and slapped Jack with the flat side of the blade.

Thud!

Keqing felt as if she had hit a wall and was immediately repelled backward.

"What can you test being so gentle? I'll do it!"

Lumine wouldn't indulge Jack, pulling out her Dull Blade and thrusting it towards Jack's lower body.

"Hey! You're hitting the wrong place!"

Jack felt a chill in his nether regions and immediately twisted away.

Screech!—

The Dull Blade scraped along the edge of the shield, emitting a piercing sound.

Buzz~~

Lumine silently retrieved her still vibrating Dull Blade, evaluating expressionlessly: "Good shield! Just a little too thick, didn't cut anyone."

"Phew~ Lumine, considering we're fighting the Fire Dragon tomorrow, I won't hold this against you. But after we get back, watch out! I'll make sure you can't get out of bed for three days!"

"Tch, three days? You only bully softies like Keqing to show off your… strengths. You should know there are only bulls that die from exhaustion, but never fields that are over-plowed."

Lisa looked at Keqing in surprise, as if saying: Are these two's conversations always so "direct"?

Keqing rubbed her forehead.

Then she covered Klee's ears.

"Children shouldn't hear this."

But she forgot there was another person who wasn't a child but acted like one.

That day, Paimon felt like she had opened the door to a new world.

Pop~

With a crisp sound, the shield covering Jack shattered.

Jack and Lumine immediately stopped their antics and looked at Lisa simultaneously.

The human computer, Miss Lisa, delivered her research report.

"In terms of strength, this shield can withstand a full-power attack from a Hilichurl Rogue-level monster. As long as it's not continuous attacks, the magic's internal circulation can repair itself within a certain amount of time. Depending on the number of repairs, the shield's duration is between 3 to 5 minutes."

"Meaning, as long as it doesn't exceed the shield's maximum attack limit, even if it takes damage multiple times, it can last for three minutes?"

"Correct. However, seeing how disheveled Lumine and the others were this afternoon, the dragon's attack power should be much stronger than a Hilichurl Rogue's. Conservatively estimated, it might only last about a minute, roughly four or five attacks, before breaking."

"A bit extreme… Lisa, can you improve and strengthen this magic?"

"It's difficult. With only two runes, it's not enough to deduce new magical theories."

"I see. Wait a moment!"

Jack left the dining table for a moment.

Although curious, everyone patiently waited.

Soon, Jack returned, holding a book with a purple body and a golden cover.

"Lisa, what do you think of this Beginner's Spellbook?"

Lisa curiously opened the peculiar book.

Unlike the initial magic books in the original module, which provided information and recipes in a torrent like game guides, this was truly a spellbook that taught players basic magic theory.

It discussed the theory, origin, and basic applications of rune magic. It was an academic book so dry you'd find it boring even if you read it like a novel.

The only crafting recipe it contained was how to upgrade the Beginner's Spellbook into a Mage's Spellbook.

Similarly, there was also the Starshine Grimoire for learning Starshine Magic.

Piles of astronomical and mystical knowledge seemed like garbled text, making one's scalp tingle.

This discovery poured cold water on Jack, who had been excitedly preparing to learn magic.

His mind only held vague impressions of how to craft items like Magic Source Jars, Imprinting Presses, and Starshine Altars.

Without the various in-game guides, relying solely on an ordinary person's memory, he couldn't remember all the crafting formulas, let alone learn magic.

He felt that he would be better off finding accessories or developing his god's eye to improve his abilities than spending that time on trial-and-error formulas.

...

At the table.

Lisa, a top student from the Sumeru Akademiya, frowned deeply, her two legs, encased in purple suspender stockings, constantly shifting and crossing.

After about ten minutes, she snapped the book shut with a clap.

"How is it? Can you do it?"

"Yes, but I'll need at least half a month. The Level 1 runes mentioned in the book should be creatable. However, isn't 'eating' runes to learn knowledge a bit too rash? Or is this a characteristic of your world?"

"It is indeed a characteristic, but you can't use the crafting table. So, when it's time to learn, we'll have to do it together. Plus, I have some impressions of formulas in my mind that should be able to give you ideas."

Jack set the tone for this matter, then no longer dwelled on strengthening the magic shield.

In the original game, by employing various positioning and kiting tactics, one could hunt dragons in the early stages.

There was no reason for three characters he had leveled to 90, plus legendary weapons and artifacts, and himself as a healer, to fail when all four went in together.

The Fire Dragon definitely had to be fought.

Just for the fact that it bullied Lumine, Jack couldn't let it go.

However, considering that Lumine and Lisa's physiques were suppressed in the MC World, and they had no armor, their positioning needed slight adjustments.

"Lumine, you know how to use a bow and arrow, right?"

"A little. Why?"

"That's good." Jack arranged: "Keqing and I have much stronger defensive capabilities than you two. When the time comes, she and I will take turns on the front line to draw fire. You and Lisa will stand in the back to maintain the magic shield. At the same time, once the Fire Dragon takes to the sky, focus your attacks on its wings.

Once it lands, I'll release water buckets on the ground. Under the assault of infinite water, its fiery dragon breath will be greatly weakened. The rest will be simple: just focus on healing, mana regeneration, and outputting damage."

The Fire Dragon was considered the easiest of the dragons to fight.

Because its main attacks could be countered by infinite water.

Unlike the Ice Dragon, which left behind ice spikes on the ground, or the Electro Dragon, which caused blocks to sink.

After defeating the Fire Dragon, they would collect its blood to craft the Dragonflame Bonesword, which would then be super effective against the Ice Dragon, creating a positive feedback loop.
