Chapter 60 - Chapter 60: The Anemo God’s Commission

At the Good Hunter restaurant.

Under Venti's thick skin, Jack had no choice but to spend some mora and treat him to lunch.

"Alright, what do you need me for?"

Jack asked Venti after eating the steak Keqing fed him.

"Ehe, can't I just have a meal and a drink with a dear friend without having a reason?"

"I'm just an ordinary Traveler from another world. Lord Anemo God is busy with a myriad of affairs; there must be a reason for you to seek out a free person like me, right?"

Venti's expression stiffened: "Traveler, don't casually expose people's hidden identities. What if the children lose their dreams because their Anemo God in their hearts is different from reality?"

Jack took another bite of the vegetable salad Lisa handed him.

"Things that are lost as one grows up aren't worth clinging to. Being pragmatic earlier is a good thing."

"That's truly an adult remark."

After a moment of silence.

Venti mentioned: "Alright, I do have something to ask of you. There's been an anomaly in Dragonspine Mountain; an area there has undead monsters appearing at night. Some of those monsters are very dangerous, even seasoned god's eye holders can't deal with them."

The three, who were in the middle of a feeding play, paused their actions.

All looked at Venti.

What a coincidence.

They had just finished talking about how Jack's world might affect Teyvat, and the elusive Anemo God came to offer a commission.

Could it be that the Anemo God, who was idle all day, had been keeping an eye on the Traveler?

If that were the case, then their embarrassing moments these past two days would also have been...

At once, the two young women's faces flushed.

Venti saw the displeasure in their expressions.

Seeing that a misunderstanding was about to occur, he quickly explained: "Are you misunderstanding something?! Although I can hear information from the wind, I absolutely have no intention of prying into the Traveler's privacy!"

"Really? I don't believe it!"

Keqing, who had always been disrespectful towards the gods, retorted.

"Traveler, you know me. Although I am free-spirited, I never do such dirty, popularity-damaging things as peeping!"

"I believe Venti wouldn't do such a thing."

Jack said calmly: "He would only deliberately appear at an opportune time to cause misunderstandings, thereby teasing others. Am I right, our Lord Anemo God?"

Venti chuckled awkwardly: "Haha, the Traveler truly understands me. How about I also turn into a female and marry you?"

"No!" x2

The two young women immediately glared at the god like protective mother cows.

It was fine for the likes of the Electro Archon or the Grass God, who always appeared as females; they wouldn't mind sharing their other half with a god.

But the Anemo God, who had appeared as a young man for years?

Please forgive them, they could not accept that!

"Do you even hear what you're saying?" Jack almost spat out a mouthful of apple juice. "If I told Morax next door, do you believe he would cross the border and give you a 'Planet Befall' to deal with you, who disgraces the gods?"

"I was wrong! Please, please don't tell the old man about this!"

Venti could already imagine Zhongli's 'subway old man phone.jpg' expression. The ingrained cowardice in his DNA made him surrender immediately.

After some playful banter,

Venti did manage to get closer to the group.

However, Keqing and Lisa looked at him with an added hint of wariness.

"So, where is that strange area?"

"Roughly near Xingying Cave."

Jack frowned: "Can't you be more specific, or do you have a map or something?"

Dragonspine Mountain's terrain was complex, with extreme elevation changes.

Even though Jack could view maps of explored terrain through the MC system, he couldn't see through the three-dimensional mountain to find where the cave anomaly was located.

Venti scratched the back of his head: "Well... Traveler, you know, although I hold the position of a god, my true strength is actually weak.

So I only heard from adventurers that there are monsters there, but I don't know the exact range or where the monsters appear."

Venti looked at him with sincere eyes.

Jack gave him an eye-roll in return.

Saying his strength was weak could only fool ordinary people; he knew this guy inside and out.

Putting everything else aside, with his Level 90 and his weapon and artifacts,

Even with an Energy Recharge set, with divine power, he could deal tons of damage.

This guy wanted to be lazy again!

Jack saw through Venti's intentions at a glance.

But there was nothing he could do; he was indeed interested in this matter.

Jack was very curious about how the native MC monsters appearing in another world would manifest and what their attitude would be towards him, the Creator.

"I can take the quest, but what's the reward?"

"How about a bottle of aged Anemo God's Apple Wine?"

"I'm not fond of wine; I only drink occasionally for entertainment. And how can you even offer apple wine?"

"But this is already my best wine!"

Venti's eyes darted around, "How about I introduce you to a girlfriend? Miss Barbara, a nun from Mondstadt, is beautiful and sweet-voiced, a household name celebrity."

"You even do pimping? Aren't you afraid Jean would abandon the Anemo God and hit you with a 'Gale Blade'?"

"It's fine, it's fine, Jean wouldn't do that. Just tell me if you're satisfied with this reward."

"I am satisfied, but unfortunately, I'm very familiar with Barbara; I don't need you to introduce her again. Change it!"

"Oh, alright then, let's change to..."

Seeing Jack and the Anemo God huddled together, whispering and appreciating the various beautiful young women of Mondstadt, Keqing couldn't maintain her composure, even though she knew they were joking.

Her Mistplitter Reforged, which hadn't been used in a long time, slapped onto the table with a thud.

"Refinement Ores, mora, or other equivalent items should be available, right? How about these as a reward!"

"Uh... normally, these things can indeed be used as rewards for a commission, but I don't have any of them."

Venti's nonchalant attitude made a vein throb on Keqing's forehead.

As a god, he's actually broke! How can his scope be so different from the Geo Archon's!

"Then we'll go to the Knights of Favonius for it! Since it's a commission personally given by Mondstadt's Anemo Archon, it's only right that they pay for it!"

"Actually, I think a certain winery big boss (sucker) would be more willing to foot this bill."

Lisa, as a member of the Knights of Favonius, thought of their already tight budget and suggested asking Diluc to cover the commission funds.

As soon as this plan was proposed, it immediately gained the approval of several people.

A contract bearing the Anemo Archon's aura was then immediately established on the spot, and the matter was settled.

Afterward, the Anemo Archon was like a gust of wind.

He left the Good Hunter restaurant without saying goodbye to anyone, taking two bottles of Dandelion Wine from Dawn Winery on the table with him.

"That guy, he's really fast."

Jack shook his head, no longer thinking about him, and pointed at the table, saying, "Let's continue eating. That guy Venti probably went off to enjoy himself somewhere after achieving his goal."

Keqing looked at Venti's empty seat for a long time, letting out a sigh.

With such a unique god, Jean, as the Acting Grand Master, must have truly suffered these past few years. I should find some time to lend Jack to her for a few days, hoping it can make up for the youthful time she should have had as a normal young woman.
