Chapter 59
"Pheromosa, dodge!" Ryan called out.
The Pheromosa performed a graceful dance, spinning elegantly to avoid the Lurantis's razor-sharp leaf blades. Its long legs tapped lightly against the ground, yet it exploded with astonishing speed.
Pheromosa is praised for its powerful dual attack stats and the third-highest speed among all Pokémon. Like Mega Beedrill, it's built like an assassin—incredible offense but negligible defenses, making battles a high-risk, high-reward situation.
"Use Silver Wind!" Ryan shouted.
The thin wings behind Pheromosa spread out like a wedding dress, and a silver-white whirlwind blew towards the Lurantis. The Lurantis crossed its arms to resist, but finally could not withstand the damage and collapsed, losing its ability to fight.
Ryan stepped forward and claimed the Grassium Z. Together with the Firium Z and Waterium Z obtained from Wela Volcano Park and Brooklet Hill, he now had all three Z-Crystals corresponding to the starter Pokémon types.
Looking back at the large group of Grass-type Pokémon who were completely mesmerized by Pheromosa, Ryan scratched his head, feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Pheromosa possesses a humanoid body that is very slender and mostly pearl-white in color. It has a flat head with drooping eyelashes, and its eyes are blue-purple. Beneath its bamboo-like neck lies a four-layered, skirt-like body, with the top layer slightly wider than the three below. Its arms extend from a hollowed-out area beneath the top layer. They are extremely slender, with oval-shaped joints, ending in two claw-like yellow fingers.
Above its eyelashes is a yellow crown-shaped crest, with sharp protrusions at the ends. From these protrusions, two long antennae extend, their tips the same yellow color but slightly bulging. Two legs emerge from under the bottom layer of its skirt-like body. A bridal veil-like membrane curves inward at the back of its head, seeming to wrap around its slender form. However, near the feet, it suddenly contracts inward, forming an X-shaped silhouette. The legs are slightly thicker than the rest of its slender body, still appearing yellow and oval at the joints. The feet are slender with two yellow antennae-like extensions, somewhat resembling high heels.
From its appearance, Pheromosa truly possessed an almost supernatural ability to captivate others, much like Gardevoir. However, Ryan wasn't sure whether it was Pheromosa's appearance or the mysterious pheromones it released, but whenever Pheromosa entered battle, it always attracted large numbers of Pokémon.
But a reminder to anyone getting carried away with fantasies: not to mention that half of all Gardevoir are actually male, Pheromosa is genderless. Like the Mythical Pokémon Diancie, they are Pokémon that appear feminine but have no gender.
After selecting some Pokémon with better potential to capture, Ryan noted that with Pheromosa, even catching Pokémon was like cheating. There was no need to battle at all—just throw the Poké Ball.
However, those attracted by Pheromosa were all low-level Pokémon, and Ryan wasn't particularly selective about them. After all, he would let others choose from them later, and he would just act as an intermediary.
After recalling Pheromosa, Ryan released Dragonite and prepared to fly to Melemele Island to challenge Hala and obtain the Fightinium Z. After all, he also needed to give Pheromosa some proper training.
Moreover, Ryan had recently contacted Professor Oak, and Ash was already preparing to challenge the fourth gym and would soon be competing in the Orange League.
So Ryan had to hurry up and collect as many Z-Crystals as possible. If he really didn't have time, he would have to wait until the Silver Conference was over. By then, Lillie would have finished her studies and they could travel the world together. No, it was time to start a new journey.
Back at Melemele Island, Ryan went to the Pokémon School to see Lillie first. He was surprised to see a handsome young man there. It was Ilima, a character Ryan was familiar with from the games.
Ryan had also watched the anime. In the anime, Ilima was traveling to study in the Kalos region, and he might have just returned recently. According to the storyline, it was likely that in a year or more, Ilima would return to Alola permanently and become the Trial Captain of Melemele Island.
According to the character profiles in the games, Kiawe, Lana, and Mallow would also serve as Trial Captains on Akala Island. Ryan considered whether he should ask them to help him obtain some other Z-Crystals, to avoid running around and causing unnecessary trouble.
Seeing Ryan approaching, the group who had been swimming in the pond gathered around instantly, and Ryan greeted them warmly.
"Hello, you're Ryan, right? I'm Ilima. I watched the Indigo League tournament. You're really strong. Would you like to have a battle with me?" Ilima walked up and said with a smile, extending his right hand.
"A friendly match is no problem," Ryan said after shaking hands with Ilima.
"Then it's settled. Eevee, let's go!" Ilima called out.
The Eevee beside him stepped forward and barked confidently. Ryan smiled and took out an Ultra Ball. Lillie asked curiously after seeing it, "Ryan, is this the Ultra Ball that mother and the others developed?"
"Yes, this one's mine. I also helped the Aether Foundation tame eight Ultra Beasts. They don't plan to return to Ultra Space and want to live here. If you're interested, you can visit the Aether Foundation and try interacting with them. But they're quite proud. Come on out, Pheromosa!" Ryan said.
Pheromosa appeared, placing one hand on its hip and looking proudly at the Eevee in front of it.
"Hmm? An Ultra Beast? I didn't expect one to be tamed already. But we won't lose," Ilima said. "Eevee, use Swift!"
