Chapter 164 - Chapter 164: Meteorite Fall

Chapter 164: Meteorite Fall

After the group left the tower's perimeter, they looked back to see the Mirage Tower begin to warp, splitting the desert sand into two sections. The Mirage Tower twisted and vanished, along with most of the sand. A deep crater formed, and sand began to flow into it, filling it up.

"This..." Sapphire gasped at the sight. If they were still there, they might have vanished along with the Mirage Tower.

Ryan patted his chest and said, "No wonder it feels familiar. This is the effect of temporal distortion. What I felt last time in the time tunnel is exactly the same as here."

Ruby nodded with lingering fear and said, "Celebi told me not to approach this kind of temporal distortion. We were just asking for death just now."

As soon as he finished speaking, two meteors streaked across the sky, crashing into the desert with a loud bang. The powerful shockwaves scattered sand everywhere. Ryan and his companions quickly hid in the ruins to avoid the sandstorm.

Ryan rubbed his temples. "Why are there so many things happening today? One thing after another!"

Curious, Ryan and his group decided to take a look.

Besides, baby Rayquaza could also absorb the energy of meteorites to grow. When they reached two deep pits, they saw two rock-like Pokémon lying in the somewhat crystallized craters, each with a small fragment beside them. Ryan recognized them as Solrock and Lunatone, but they had lost their ability to battle and were severely wounded.

"Huh, Solrock and Lunatone? How did they fall with the meteor?" Sapphire asked curiously.

"Solrock and Lunatone were first discovered at the site of a meteorite crash 40 years ago, so they are considered meteorite Pokémon," Lillie explained, and Sapphire was filled with admiration for Lillie's extensive knowledge of Pokémon.

Ryan examined their injuries, took out medicine to treat them, and used his healing power to aid their recovery. Ryan secretly ran a system scan of their injuries, and the results surprised him.

"Ding. Scans show the injuries were caused by Psycho Boost. The outer rock layer has been damaged. A conservative estimate is three months of recovery."

Ryan remained silent. Psycho Boost was Deoxys's signature move. How could these two, Solrock and Lunatone, have encountered Deoxys? He could only wait for them to wake up and then ask.

With the effects of the medicine and healing power, Solrock and Lunatone regained consciousness. Ryan said, "Good, you're awake. Can you tell me why Deoxys injured you?"

"Deoxys?!" the three exclaimed in shock.

Solrock and Lunatone floated up and looked at Ryan and his group. The two Pokémon nodded. Lunatone used Hypnosis, while Solrock explained telepathically to Ryan and his group. A story unfolded before them.

Solrock and Lunatone were good friends, living on a massive meteorite half the size of Hoenn, a place of considerable freedom.

But Ryan's face turned pale at the sight of this: This meteorite... couldn't it be the one!

Amidst his racing thoughts, the arrival of a Deoxys disrupted their peaceful existence. Enraged, Deoxys, completely bereft of reason, threatened to alter the meteor's trajectory, sending it crashing into the distant planet!

Seeing this, not only Ryan's face turned pale, but the other three also turned grim. They had already learned about the meteorite impact from Ryan, and with this scene, they could deduce everything.

Solrock and Lunatone naturally wouldn't let Deoxys do this. They tried to stop it, questioning its reason. But Deoxys, already enraged, ignored their questions. With a Psycho Boost, it sent Solrock and Lunatone flying, slamming the two Pokémon into the meteorite, shattering a small portion of it. The impact carried the fragments and the two Pokémon toward the planet.

Solrock, after fainting, could only vaguely hear fragments: "Companions, revenge!"

The scene faded. Ryan, his face grim, picked up two pieces of meteorite from the ground. He then released Eternal Flower Floette and Darkrai, saying, "Can you two destroy this?"

Floette cried softly, and Ryan handed her a piece of meteorite. Floette took it and tossed it away, brandishing the Eternal Flower in her hand. Using her signature move, Light of Ruin, she struck the meteorite, sending it flying. The Light of Ruin shot outward, crashing into the distant rock wall. With a loud bang, half of the rock wall shattered. Ryan used his psychic powers to retrieve the meteorite, which only revealed cracks, but was far from destroyed.

Floette's Light of Ruin would consume half her health each time, yet she couldn't even destroy this small piece of meteorite. As for Darkrai, he also relied on attrition, and in terms of destructive power, he couldn't match Floette's.

"This is too tough!" Ruby exclaimed.

Lillie pondered for a moment and said, "It shouldn't be that hard normally. After all, the heat generated by the friction of the meteorite passing through the atmosphere is still astonishing. This piece must have been heat-treated at high temperatures, which would greatly increase its strength. After all, the Deoxys in the vision was able to break the meteorite with just a Psycho Boost."

"But we must also prepare for the worst," Ryan said. "When we get to the next city, I'll send another piece of meteorite to the Day Care and let the Legendary Pokémon try to deal with it. If they can find a way to destroy it, that would be the best. If not, we must also prepare for the worst."

"What's the worst-case scenario?" Sapphire said nervously.

"The worst-case scenario is that the meteorite hits this planet," Ryan said helplessly. "I hope not. After all, we have Arceus, the Original One, to support us. Maybe, perhaps, this planet won't be destroyed."

But as he said this, Ryan himself felt a little unsure. After all, Arceus's situation was complicated. If Arceus could truly create the world, then stopping a planet's destruction would probably not be difficult for it.

"System, do you have any good ideas?" Ryan asked the system.

"Ding. The purpose of this system is to help the host become a Pokémon Master. This isn't within my scope of responsibility."

"If I don't succeed this time, I'll be dead. What kind of Pokémon Master am I then?" Ryan protested in his mind. "Besides, you've already given me a task, at least give me some hints!"

"Host, can you try to get your Pokémon to eat the meteorite? Like, Aron?"

"Are you kidding me? Aron eating meteorite that even Light of Ruin can't break? Aren't you afraid of breaking its teeth?" Ryan said helplessly.

But then he was stunned for a second. Maybe it really could work. Ryan released baby Rayquaza. As soon as baby Rayquaza emerged, it saw the meteorite in Ryan's hand and looked at Ryan longingly for it.

Ryan handed the meteorite to baby Rayquaza. Baby Rayquaza absorbed the power of the meteorite like candy, then tried to chew it twice, hurt its teeth, and spat it out with a "Ptooey."

Ryan picked up the meteorite, then looked at Sapphire and said, "Let your Aron out and see if it can chew through this meteorite."

Sapphire looked at the meteorite, which was covered in baby Rayquaza's saliva, and felt extremely repulsed. But after considering the danger of the meteorite, she compromised and let lairon out.

lairon, unaware that it was feeding time, bit into the meteorite, crunching it and swallowing it. Ryan gave Aron another piece as a test, but Aron took a bite and immediately spat out the meteorite, holding its cheek and crying out in pain.

Ryan picked up the meteorite and smiled: Now the biggest problem is solved!
