Chapter 236: Ultra Megalopolis
"Ultra Recon Squad? What's that?" Gladion asked, puzzled.
"Don't worry about that for now," the boy said. "I'm asking you, who are you? Why are you in the Ultra Ruin?"
Gladion frowned. Although he was wearing a gas mask, both of them could sense his caution. The girl said, "My name is Dulse, and his name is Zossie. We live in Ultra Megalopolis. We came here to find a Pokémon. I don't know if you've seen it before. It's called Necrozma, a Pokémon made entirely of black crystalline material."
Gladion was stunned: How could he not know it? It was the culprit that had caused them to get separated!
Seeing this, Zossie and Dulse immediately understood. Dulse said, "Can you tell us where Necrozma went? We must capture it and suppress it."
Gladion said, "It's not that I don't want to tell you where it is, but we were attacked by it, which caused us to scatter to various Ultra Spaces. Since you can cross Ultra Spaces, can you take us out? Help us find the others. Since Necrozma attacked us, it will definitely appear when we gather together."
Zossie and Dulse exchanged a glance, and then Zossie said, "Sure, but we need to report to our captain first. Also, please come with us. If Necrozma's target is you, then you should go to Ultra Megalopolis first. After all, only there can we be confident of suppressing it."
"Is that so? Then I'll leave it to you," Gladion said. "I have a companion. I'll bring him over later, and then we'll leave."
"Wait a minute," Dulse called to Gladion, who was about to leave. "We're here to find Necrozma and deal with Guzzlord. We probably won't be able to leave for a few days, so there's no need to rush."
Gladion stopped his Silvally and asked curiously, "Deal with Guzzlord? How are you going to handle it?"
"Heh, want to see?" Zossie said.
Gladion nodded and followed Zossie and Dulse. The three found a lone Guzzlord. Zossie and Dulse summoned four Pokémon from Ultra Balls.
"Solgaleo, Lunala! And what are the other two?" Gladion asked, somewhat surprised.
Zossie and Dulse each sent out two Pokémon. Dulse said, "How do you know Solgaleo? Are you from Alola?"
"Yes. We are indeed from Alola," Gladion said.
"No wonder. Solgaleo and Lunala have only been to the Alola region. These two Pokémon are called Naganadel, and they're unique to our Ultra Megalopolis. It's normal that you haven't seen them before," Dulse said.
"Let's deal with Guzzlord first. Naganadel, Venom Drench! Solgaleo, Giga Impact!" Zossie said.
"Naganadel, Venom Drench! Lunala, Moongeist Beam!" Dulse said.
The two Naganadel fired purple venom from their tail stingers at Guzzlord. The venom hit Guzzlord, and Gladion found that Guzzlord was unable to move.
"Naganadel's venom is very sticky and has a luminous property. It's also the main source of light in our world," Dulse said.
Gladion nodded, watching as Guzzlord, stuck in the venom and unable to move, was slowly worn down by Solgaleo and Lunala, finally collapsing heavily to the ground.
"Aren't you going to capture it?" Gladion asked curiously, looking at Zossie and Dulse who had defeated Guzzlord.
"Capture it? Our goal is just to defeat it and make it behave. Guzzlord's appetite is astonishing, and this Ultra Space has a unique characteristic: if these Pokémon are inside, they will slowly disappear, but at a very slow rate. Once all the Pokémon are taken away, the space will quickly dissipate," Zossie said.
"That's right. So we're just defeating them to weaken their mobility; we can't take them away," Dulse said.
"What if we take them all away and let them live in our world? Will that cause any problems?" Gladion asked, thinking of Ryan's idea.
"We'd be grateful," Dulse said. "We've had the same thought, but we felt bad about leaving this troublesome matter to others. If you're willing to take these Pokémon, we won't object."
"Yes, that's true. We're already exhausted from suppressing Necrozma, and dealing with these Pokémon on top of that is really tiring," Zossie said.
Gladion nodded and said, "I understand."
Gladion could only believe Zossie and Dulse's explanation. Ryan wanted to take all the Ultra Beasts out, and if they didn't allow it, a conflict was inevitable, which Gladion didn't want to see.
In the following time, Zossie and Dulse took down several more Guzzlord. Gladion also discovered that Naganadel's venom did indeed have the ability to restrain Ultra Beasts like Guzzlord. Although the venom was sticky, it shouldn't be impossible to break free from it completely, right?
Gladion brought Zossie and Dulse back to his and Sophocles's base. Sophocles was overjoyed to be able to leave, as life there was quite boring, and food was a major problem; he had lost weight from hunger over the past few days!
However, before leaving, Sophocles was cautious and wrote a message on the ground outside the street using paint he found: "Ryan, Lillie, this is Sophocles. Gladion and I were taken to Ultra Megalopolis by Zossie and Dulse. If you see this message, we have already left. Please come quickly!"
Three days later, Zossie and Dulse had basically defeated all the Guzzlord, and then, riding Solgaleo and Lunala, they took Sophocles and Gladion out of the Ultra Ruin space, flying towards Ultra Megalopolis. It was a week later when Ryan and Lillie arrived at the Ultra Ruin, but we'll leave that aside for now and shift the focus to Ash a month earlier.
