Chapter 248: Information about the Power Plant
Inside the Ultra Plant, Zinnia and Courtney were somewhat clumsily dodging lightning bolts striking from the sky. Zinnia, while dodging the lightning attacks, exclaimed, "What the hell is this place?!"
Courtney, still dodging the lightning, called out to Zinnia, "Run up that mountain! I see a building there; let's hide there."
Zinnia nodded, and the two ran up the mountain. However, just as they were about to reach the building, some cone-shaped Xurkitree embedded in the rock blocked their path. These tall Xurkitree were absorbing the power of the lightning to replenish themselves. Although they weren't moving, their occasionally waving arms generated bursts of electricity.
"No time to think. Garchomp, Earthquake!" Zinnia shouted, then sent out Garchomp.
After Garchomp appeared, it stomped heavily on the ground, and a strong shockwave spread outwards. The Xurkitree immediately lost their footing and collapsed. Taking advantage of the opportunity, the two crossed the barrier formed by the Xurkitree and rushed into the building.
Once inside, they could finally catch their breath. Zinnia surveyed the surroundings and said, "Huh, this looks like a power plant?"
Courtney also looked around and said, "Never mind what kind of building it is, let's look for clues first. At least let us know what happened here."
The two exchanged a glance, then split up to search for clues. Zinnia led Garchomp through the power plant, but the further she went, the more her brow furrowed. She muttered, "Next, turn right, that's the power distribution room."
She turned right at the intersection, and a power distribution room was not far ahead. Zinnia pushed open the door of the power distribution room, but it was empty. Zinnia examined it carefully but found nothing. She pondered for a moment and muttered, "Then let's go check out the staff break room first; maybe there are some clues there."
With that, Zinnia led Garchomp towards the staff break room. Upon reaching the staff break room, Zinnia confirmed that this was the New Mauville power plant from the Hoenn region.
However, unlike the abandoned power plant in their world, although it was now abandoned, the equipment was still operational; it hadn't been abandoned as long, or rather, it had been running continuously before being abandoned.
Pushing open the door, the break room was a mess, but some papers and other items were scattered on the floor. Zinnia picked them up one by one and examined them; they were mostly documents and some circuit diagrams. But one piece of paper read: "Destroy the data in the hidden compartment in the wardrobe!"
Zinnia frowned and opened the wardrobe, searching for a while before finally finding a hidden compartment. Opening the compartment, a small wooden box appeared before her eyes. Zinnia took out the wooden box and opened it to see what was inside.
What she saw next was a disc labeled: "High School Girls After School."
Zinnia's forehead veins bulged immediately: "You've been tricked!"
Enraged, Zinnia slammed the disc to the ground, but found a note at the bottom of the box that read: "The disc has been re-recorded. Hopefully, someone else will see it!"
Zinnia felt utterly exasperated: "Why didn't you put the note on top?!"
She quickly picked up the disc, only to find it was badly broken. Frustrated, Zinnia retrieved the broken pieces, intending to examine them before handing the disc to Ryan. With the Mercenary Guild's current technological capabilities, they should be able to restore the disc.
There was a projector in the lounge, clearly prepared beforehand, presumably for playing this disc. Zinnia placed the partially broken disc into the projector and clicked play.
Fortunately, the power plant equipment wasn't damaged, and the power supply was still available, so the projector quickly started playing.
"Yamete, yamete..." A series of inappropriate sounds instantly made Zinnia want to kick the projector to pieces.
Thankfully, it only lasted a minute. The projector's image changed, appearing on a vast plain. On the screen was something that made Zinnia's scalp tingle: a gigantic black shadow, its size easily over ten meters tall. But for some reason, this gigantic black shadow seemed indistinct, a large, dark mass suspended in mid-air.
Then, the screen showed a massive number of legendary Pokémon—yes, massive numbers. Countless legendary Pokémon launched a suicidal charge towards the black shadow, unleashing all sorts of moves. But the black shadow simply waved its hand casually, instantly obliterating the vast number of legendary Pokémon, and a rain of blood soaked the entire plain.
Zinnia couldn't help but shudder. This scene was truly terrifying; slaughtering legendary Pokémon was like slaughtering common Pokémon—that was the only way to describe it.
Ho-Oh rushed out, reviving a large number of legendary Pokémon, but this was only a drop in the ocean. Ho-Oh was also targeted by that being, which stretched out a gigantic hand, grabbed Ho-Oh, and crushed it instantly, scattering it across the plain. The Legendary Beasts roared and charged at the dark figure, but were also slammed into the ground and died instantly.
Then the screen froze; Zinnia knew this was a glitch. Skipping this part, a beam of light illuminated the entire scene, killing all the legendary Pokémon. Then the screen went blank with static, indicating it was over.
Zinnia took the disc out with a heavy heart and put it in her backpack. She knew she had witnessed the destruction of this world, but it was beyond her control. Or rather, if such a being truly existed, it was beyond the reach of anyone.
"I can only leave it to Ryan and the others to handle, after all, Arceus is our last resort. But I hope I'm not just being paranoid, otherwise this will be a catastrophe for the world," Zinnia murmured.
She then met up with Courtney, who had also found some things, but compared to the disc Zinnia had found, they were insignificant.
Zinnia explained the situation to Courtney, who nodded and said, "Then our mission is half complete. Next, we'll start capturing the Xurkitree and take them all with us."
The two then settled down at the power plant, beginning their challenge against the Xurkitree, trying to capture them as much as possible, while patiently waiting for Ryan's rescue.
However, they didn't expect that this wait would last almost a month, and the one who came to pick them up wasn't Ryan, but another group of people. But that's a story for later.
