Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Kids

Moen wasn't a hardcore fan of Saint Seiya. He genuinely didn't remember that there was even such a Bronze Cloth in existence.

Looking closely, the Cloth was indeed shaped like a horse, and it did have a pair of wings—but the wings were extremely small.

Moreover, judging from its colors and appearance, it really didn't match Moen's impression of the Pegasus Bronze Cloth. It seemed the system hadn't made a mistake after all.

"Is he dead?!"

While Moen was still in shock that "Pegasus" had turned into "Little Horse," the only boy sitting under the tree shade suddenly stood up.

He asked in panic, naturally referring to Natsu, who was lying on the ground motionless.

This boy had spiky dark blue hair, wore no shirt, only a pair of loose blue shorts. His shirt was nowhere to be seen, even though he'd been wearing it just moments ago.

Thump!

The dark-blue-haired boy who had just shouted suddenly took a punch on the head.

The blow made him bare his teeth in pain, and the spot where he was hit visibly swelled, showing how strong the punch had been.

"How could he be dead?! Gray, don't say nonsense!"

The one who had punched him was the red-haired girl next to him. She had a delicate face, wore a suit of armor with a sword at her waist, and was clearly a bit taller than Gray. She carried herself with a valiant aura—surely destined to grow into a stunning beauty.

After scolding Gray, the red-haired girl Erza strode over toward the unconscious Natsu, her face showing some concern.

Although Erza believed Moen must have held back, seeing Natsu so unresponsive still made her worry.

"Let's go too, Cana."

Seeing Erza move, Gray quickly followed after her, and called out to the girl holding a cute little white dog nearby.

"Okay."

Cana replied obediently and hurried after them, still carrying the little dog.

She had long chestnut hair tied in a ponytail, and wore an orange sundress. She looked both cute and well-behaved.

"Oh, Gray—where's your shirt?"

As they ran, Cana couldn't help but remind Gray, who had suddenly stripped again.

"Huh?! Since when?!"

Gray looked genuinely surprised, as if only just realizing his shirt was gone.

So, ignoring Natsu for the moment, he began frantically searching for his clothes. Cana set down the white dog and joined in, and the two of them, along with the dog, scrambled about in chaos.

This noisy commotion snapped Moen out of his daze. He stopped looking at the "Little Horse Bronze Cloth" and instead shifted his gaze toward Natsu lying on the ground.

Seeing Natsu lying motionless, Moen wasn't actually worried. He knew exactly how much strength he'd used.

Besides, Natsu's body was extremely tough—far tougher than that of ordinary people. Moen could tell from the feeling of punching him.

This was actually one of the effects of Dragon Slayer Magic—a magic that transformed the user's body into that of a dragon. Moen had already asked Grandpa Makarov about this in advance.

In short, Natsu was incredibly durable. There was no way a few punches from him could kill the kid.

What's more, his [Saint Seiya System] had already said that Natsu was an important character in this world's story. Surely he was like one of the "Bronze Five Saints"—someone with the "unkillable cockroach" attribute. How could he possibly die so easily?

Moen knew that the world he was in now, Earthland, was actually the world of the anime Fairy Tail.

And that was it. Moen had only ever heard the name Fairy Tail. He'd never actually watched it, and so he was completely blind—he had no advantage of foreknowledge at all.

But that didn't matter. With the [Saint Seiya System] at his side, Moen only needed to keep training diligently. No matter what came his way, he would meet it with his fists—punching out a broad path to the heavens!

Moreover, even without knowing the plot or characters, Moen was certain that he'd already connected with the main storyline.

After all, the guild where he grew up was called Fairy Tail. There was no way that name could be unrelated to the central plot, right?

It made sense—by common logic, an anime's title always had a strong connection to its main story. For example: Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Saint Seiya. The same should apply to Fairy Tail.

Now, with Natsu's appearance, plus the quests he'd previously triggered involving Gray and Erza, Moen's idea kept being confirmed: his guildmates were essentially all important characters in the story.

Under Moen's watchful eyes, Erza reached Natsu's unconscious body.

"Natsu! Are you okay? Wake up!"

Erza grabbed Natsu by the shoulders and shook him hard.

Being shaken so violently, Natsu furrowed his brow in pain, trying to open his eyes—signs of waking up.

Seeing this, Erza shook him even harder.

She even lifted Natsu completely off the ground, shaking him like a rag doll. His pale face swung around as his limbs flailed helplessly in the air.

"Hey hey hey! Erza! Put Natsu down! Doing that will just make him even dizzier!"

Watching Erza's antics, Moen couldn't take it anymore and quickly stepped in to stop her, covering his forehead in exasperation.

Seriously… was this supposed to be a rescue? It looked more like she was trying to finish him off!

"Oh."

Erza obeyed without protest and promptly let go.

Smack!

Natsu hit the ground with a thud.

When he still didn't wake up, Erza's sharp mind came up with another plan. She decisively raised her hand—

Slap!

A crisp slap landed on Natsu's pale cheek, leaving a clear red handprint. He looked even worse than before.

"Stop, stop, stop!"

Seeing this, Moen rushed forward and grabbed Erza's wrist before she could strike again and give Natsu a matching handprint on the other side of his face.

Yep. Definitely finishing him off, Moen thought to himself with a wry smile. But of course, he knew Erza wasn't actually trying to hurt Natsu.

After all, Erza herself was still just a problem child who had suffered serious trauma.

She had only joined the guild a year ago. Back then, she'd been even more withdrawn than Natsu, who went around claiming to have a "Fire Dragon Dad." Erza had been so introverted that she hardly interacted with anyone at all.

It was only after certain events that Erza gradually lowered her guard and began to open up, eventually becoming friends with everyone in the guild.

Moen understood that this girl, who outwardly seemed tough, harsh, and constantly hid herself under heavy armor, actually had a very soft and gentle heart.

"Let me go, Moen."

Erza struggled against his grip on her wrist.

Moen released her, though he still kept a wary eye on her in case she tried another "rescue" attempt. Poor Natsu couldn't handle much more of that kind of treatment.

Glancing at Natsu, Moen started to feel a bit worried himself.

He had held back when striking earlier, but Erza really had no sense of restraint!

Natsu, poor kid… he had only joined Fairy Tail two days ago. He couldn't die here already, right?!

Otherwise, Moen had no idea how he'd explain it to Master Makarov. As one of the older kids in the guild, he had both the responsibility and the obligation to protect the safety of the younger ones who played with him.

"Moen, what you did was wrong. This was only supposed to be a spar. Natsu is a guildmate, and you shouldn't have gone so hard on him. He's just a newcomer, nowhere near as strong as you."

Erza stopped trying to hit him and stood up, hands on her hips, cheeks puffed into two little buns, clearly upset with Moen's behavior.

"Pfft!"

Before she could go on, Moen extended a finger and poked one of those puffed-up cheeks, instantly deflating her serious look.

"Moen!"

That was like poking a hornet's nest. Erza grew even angrier. She had been seriously scolding him, but he was just joking around with her instead!

"Calm down, Erza! Before you came over, Natsu was already starting to wake up. Didn't you notice?"

Moen quickly diverted her attention back to Natsu.

"Huh? Really?"

Erza froze, her anger fading as confusion took over.

"Of course! Natsu was on the verge of waking up. But it was what you did afterward that left him in this state!"

Seeing her calm down, Moen pressed his advantage, his tone firm and decisive, leaving no room for doubt.

Erza wasn't the type to dodge responsibility. Quite the opposite—she had a strong sense of duty and always tried to be fair. Under Moen's guidance, she couldn't help but reflect on her actions.

Could it really have been my fault? Did my actions stop Natsu from waking up?

Thinking back, she realized Natsu had seemed like he was about to regain consciousness when she first rushed over, not like now where he looked half-dead.

So… could this really have been her fault?

"I'm sorry! I really didn't mean to!"

Realizing her mistake, Erza quickly apologized—not just to Natsu, but also to Moen, since she had wrongly accused him. She had been too hasty.

Thanks to Moen's influence, Erza was no longer the withdrawn girl she once was. Though her personality was still a bit awkward, she had learned to honestly admit when she was wrong and to say "I'm sorry."

"If an apology could solve everything, why would we need doctors? Natsu's almost done for. Hurry and take him to see Granny Porlyusica."

Moen shook his head, telling Erza to carry Natsu. In this situation, the only important thing was getting him medical attention.

Porlyusica was Fairy Tail's resident advisor—a cantankerous but skilled healer who lived deep within this forest.

"Okay!"

Erza straightened up and lifted Natsu onto her back, following Moen toward the forest's depths.

As she ran, she kept muttering apologies—saying she shouldn't have hurt Natsu, nor wrongly accused Moen. Her little face was full of guilt, worry, and self-blame.

Moen, on the other hand, comforted her generously, telling her it wasn't her fault. She was only acting out of concern for her guildmate, not malice, and that kind of care was proof she was integrating into the guild.

That reassurance deeply moved Erza.

"..."

"…If I remember correctly, wasn't it Moen-nii who knocked Natsu out in the first place? So why does it feel like everything suddenly became Erza's fault?"

From the side, Cana and Gray exchanged confused looks. Something about this situation felt… off.

"Gray! Cana! Hurry up and follow!"

Before they could puzzle it out, Moen's voice came from ahead, and the two kids quickly answered, rushing after him.
