Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Claiming the Quest Rewards

Jellal was, after all, only a year older than Moen—still a teenager. It was natural that he couldn't think things through too deeply.

Guided by his conscience, he had resolutely left his homeland and come to the world of Earth Land, hoping to stop Anima from taking effect.

But his power was far too weak. He couldn't change Edolas, couldn't change the decision made by his father—the king and even less could he defy the will of the so-called "god."

Under such circumstances, this was one of the few things he could still do. He simply wanted to do his part—to minimize the losses Earth Land would suffer, and to give his conscience a bit of peace.

However, Moen's appearance and Makarov's as well—had suddenly opened his mind to new possibilities, as if a brand-new door had been pushed open before him.

Jellal couldn't help but reflect. Perhaps he had been too narrow-minded before.

The magic "Anima" harmed the entire world of Earth Land. Surely, the powerful mages of this world would not stand idly by.

Relying on his own power alone, he could not stop his father, nor could he resist "God." But—if he had the help of the strongest people of Earth Land—could things change?

"So, can you do it? Can you send all of us to that other world?"

Moen asked as he waved his hand in front of Jellal's dazed face.

Jellal snapped out of his thoughts and then shook his head awkwardly.

"Not right now. I can't do it."

"But… I can study it further. I'll definitely be able to someday!"

Seeing the visible disappointment on Moen and Makarov's faces, Jellal hurriedly added that reassurance.

After all, he had never considered attempting such a thing before, so naturally, he had never studied it in depth. Traveling between worlds wasn't a simple matter—he wouldn't dare make empty promises.

Hearing that, both Moen and Makarov nodded in understanding.

It would indeed be unreasonable to expect Jellal to know everything.

"Join us, Jellal. Join Fairy Tail. Think of Fairy Tail as your home in this world—just like Granny Porlyusica. You'll come to love it here."

After understanding the full story and forming a rough counterplan, Moen helped support Jellal as they walked and extended the invitation to join the guild.

Makarov watched from the side without interrupting. In fact, if Moen hadn't said it first, he would have.

Jellal was exactly the kind of person Makarov liked—a child who was willing to risk his life to stop Anima for the sake of others.

Such a person was clearly full of compassion and righteousness.

A child like that was absolutely suited for Fairy Tail. In terms of morality and character, he was already excellent.

"Can I really?"

Faced with Moen's invitation, Jellal hesitated. After all, he wasn't from this world—he might only be a temporary visitor.

The most important issue was that he had to keep chasing the traces of Anima wherever they appeared. He couldn't possibly stay in the guild all the time.

"Why not? Fairy Tail is about freedom—we won't restrict you. You can still do what you need to do."

Moen explained with a smile. Joining Fairy Tail didn't mean one had to stay in the guild all day.

Just look at Gildarts—he was never home. If he returned once a year, that was already considered frequent! Yet that never lessened anyone's respect for him.

Besides, stopping Anima was a matter of great importance. Fairy Tail would never restrain Jellal's actions—in fact, they would provide him with every possible assistance.

"But Moen, I don't have magic power in my body. Strictly speaking, I can't be considered a mage. Can someone like me even join a wizard guild?"

After hearing Moen's words, Jellal was already tempted, but he didn't agree right away. He still had many concerns in his heart.

People from Edolas didn't possess magic power within them. They had no internal magic source and couldn't generate magic naturally. The only way they could use magic was through magical tools.

At best, they were tool-users—not true mages. There was a fundamental difference between the two.

"Jellal, who told you that someone without magic power, someone who can't use magic, can't join a guild?"

Moen shook his head, denying Jellal's statement.

"A successful guild isn't held together by magic or power. What truly connects everyone are their comrades — the bonds of friendship and trust!"

Moen looked straight at Jellal, conveying to him the true ideals of Fairy Tail.

Though it was a guild of mages, it was by no means only a guild of mages.

"…"

Jellal looked at Moen. The confidence and pride shining in Moen's eyes, the pride of being a member of Fairy Tail — stirred something deep within him.

"I want to join."

Jellal spoke up, cutting off Moen, who had been about to continue explaining the guild's values.

There was no need for more words, he was already moved.

Moved by Moen's words, by his confidence, by his pride.

Who said one had to possess magic or use spells to join a guild?

A guild exists because its members are companions not because they all have magic.

To Jellal, this was exactly what he longed for.

This was the kind of guild he truly wanted to be part of.

"Great! From now on, we're family!"

Hearing Jellal agree, Moen beamed with joy. He clapped Jellal on the shoulder, acting like an older brother, though it made Jellal wince in pain from the strength of his pats.

The reason Moen was so excited was because the [Saint Seiya System] suddenly reacted and in a way that pleasantly surprised him.

[Ding! A reward is available. Claim it now?]

Seeing this notification, Moen immediately opened the mission titled "A Guild Is Where Comrades Gather!" and checked the details.

Mission Progress:

Invite Mystogan to join (Completed)

Invite Wendy Marvell to join (Incomplete)

Mission Rewards:

Invite one member – Receive a random Bronze Cloth (Claimable)

Invite both – Receive the Saint Cloth Repair Manual

Sure enough, the mission progress had updated — proving Jellal hadn't been lying.

He truly intended to join Fairy Tail.

"The rewards can actually be claimed separately!"

This surprising discovery delighted Moen.

In missions with multiple objectives and rewards, it would be frustrating to be stuck because of one difficult condition. But being able to claim rewards in stages completely solved that problem.

"Claim!"

Without hesitation, Moen accepted the reward.

After all, the reward would be stored directly in his system space it wouldn't suddenly appear out of nowhere, so neither Jellal nor Grandpa Makarov would notice anything unusual.
