Chapter 26 - Insert 26

All I just overheard her telling a friend."

Baba Ndlovu: "Ok my apologies mtwana wami, tell me more about this conversation."

Linomtha: I shared with him the little I heard.

Baba Ndlovu: "I will get one of my journalists to investigate this inheritance money."

Linomtha: "Or maybe she has a sugar daddy?"

Baba Ndlovu: "No she doesn't, she is not about that life. My investigative journalist was going to pick it up. We use him in the company and he's very good; he can never miss that kind of information. "I'll be in touch with you shortly," he ended the call.

Linomtha: I hope he calls me soon. I really need to win this case. I went to Facebook to check the complainant. The newspaper articles didn't mention her names; I guess they were trying to protect her. I only saw her in court; that's how I was able to recognise her.

I checked the file and found her names. Pertunia Lesiba were her names. I entered them and searched, and yes, there she was. Her account was not so old; it was actually opened a month after the rape case. There was really nothing on the wall, just some few pictures, and I noticed that she is using an iPhone. Ok she can even afford an iPhone. I need to find out when did the aunt die. Just as I was busy with my notes, Baba Ndlovu called me.

Baba Ndlovu: "The investigative journalist cannot track down any aunt our complainant lost. We need to get hold of all the banks and see if she has any account with them; then can her bank statement."

Linomtha: "Is that allowed, Baba? Consumer Protection Act (68 of 2008), does it allow that?"

Baba Ndlovu: He laughed. "You very smart, but then there is an act that gives us an exception. I need you to do a research and find it and apply it wisely."

"Tomorrow morning I need a report on those bank statements, Lino. Actually, here is the contact numbers of our investigative journalist. You communicate with him going forward. I want you to be great and you're not going to be great if I do the work for you, but call if you need to ask anything."

Linomtha: "Thank you so much for putting all your trust in me to handle this on my own."

We said our goodbyes and I researched the act, and yes, I got it. I checked the time; it was 2 in the afternoon. I called the driver and notified him we need to be somewhere right now.

He came and we drove to court.

The Court

Linomtha: "Good day my name is Linomtha Zikelele I am an attorney from Ndlovu Attorneys I am representing Dr Walaza I need your assistance with making an urgent application to all the banks and do a financial check on the complainant"

Court official: She gave me this unbelievable look

Linomtha: "Sesi I don't mean to sound rude but I don't have all day please assist me or if you're unsure of something ask"

Court official: "Yhoo watse babo mathulatsatsing bana le attitude I know con artists like you Your not a lawyer wena A lawyer dressed like this and looking like this Skatlore phaphela wena sislegonkga mereto (your just taking chances don't come here with attitude and be forward with me smelling of urine)

Linomtha: I went outside and asked the security guy where the court manager's office is He showed me Luckily there was no one inside so I knocked and he signalled me to come in

Linomtha: "Thobela Mohlomphegi" (Greetings the respected one)

Court manager: "Ashe, relethus haka eng sesi" (Yes to the greeting and how can I be of service)

Linomtha: "I am here to lodge a

complaint against one of your employees who insulted me before he could respond I quickly jumped in you know I just wanted to show him that I know a lot about law just in case he thinks his going to undermine me as well And possibly sue her for defamation of character because she used an intentional false communication that harms my reputation, decreases my respect as an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and employee at one of the biggest law firms in South Africa Ndlovu Attorneys I handed him my business card and employee card then comfortably continued so confidently
