Pauline's POV
I could sense his foul mood the moment he arrived, but now he had transformed into something resembling a spoiled child. The kiss I gave him earlier, which I was already questioning, seemed to have unleashed a more demanding version of himself. His shameless behavior should have annoyed me, yet I found myself unable to push him away completely.
Sitting on the bed with our dinner spread before us, I watched as he tested the boundaries of my patience. His head rested against the headboard, the spoon lying untouched in his hand. When I shot him a pointed look, he remained silent, simply offering me that infuriating smile while parting his lips expectantly.
"You cannot be serious right now." The words escaped through gritted teeth as I scooped up some of the warm stew.
