Ava ran through the winding streets, again. She ducked into a corner, again. She had the surprise on the guards. Again. Ava was so tired of running. The shackles bit at her ankles, rubbing them raw. However her mind raced just as she did through the alleyways. There was a war. Leo was some kind of king. Leo was a murderer. Humans didn't accept peace treaties. Thousands had died. Leo had changed.
Facts and observations poured through her head like a tsunami, soaking in like water to a cinder block. She couldn't wrap her mind around it all. She ducked into a corner as guards raced past her. Ava knew she was outmatched. She wasn't able to handle 3 of those guards, how could she handle 20?! Ava summoned her sword, swinging it at her shackles on her ankles. She grit her teeth as she nicked herself, only being able to cut halfway into the first link's side. She didn't want to use her DT to melt it, in case she got into another fight. Already Ava was exhausted having used so much of it in the earlier one.
Ava stuck her sword into the ground, making sure the blade went deep. She sat down, using her handcuffs to keep the sword in place as she pushed against it with her shackles, trying to bend the link's metal. SNAP! The small snap of one side confirmed she had succeeded. Ava fiddled with the link, leaving the excess chain to hang off her ankles. She looked at the sword, sighing. She couldn't think of another way to get her handcuffs off without heating it up. She concentrated her DT, heating the sword. She pushed her handcuffs into the sword, the chain slowly giving way. She took a moment to gather her dizzy head before trying to get the cuffs themselves off.
"I heard something over here!" Ava's head shot up as she heard the guard's voice. She scrambled to her feet, dispersing her sword back into her soul. She bolted down the alleyway, trying to reach the corner before she was seen. "OVER HERE! I SEE HER!" Crap. Ava hightailed out of the alleyway into the street, running through the Pirate Bazaar. She elbowed a Yokai carrying a large box, causing him to fall and spill the swords inside. She heard the clamor of the guards trying to get past the clutter as she skidded around another corner.
Ahead of her was a long stretch of land, another town-area in around 33 yards. Ava took a deep breath before bolting down it.
*Please don't let the weapons be long range, please don't let the weapons be long range please don't-* ZAP! Right next to her a HUGE ball of electricity landed, causing her to jump. The weapons could charge up to become long range. GREAT. WONDERFUL. AMAZING. Ava finally reached the next town, some kind of witch bazaar. The buildings were like ones from the 1600s, as was, well, everything. The street lamps were lit by fire, the buildings were 2-3 stories max, and all around people were practicing spells and making some kinds of potions in cauldrons. Ava ducked back into an alleyway as the guards shot another ball of electricity at her. They were still running the 33 yard stretch. As Ava turned into the alleyway, she froze. There was a single guard. He was putting some kind of magic into his sword, most likely charging it up. He was a humanoid, 3-eyed bat Yokai.
The guard looked up, locking eyes with Ava. "...Heh, hi?" She tried smiling before the guard pointed his sword at her. She sighed. 1 guard. She could take 1 guard. Plus if she could take his weapon-
The guard swung his sword at her, Ava ducking back just in time. The bat shot up into the air, pointing his sword at her. He pressed some kind of trigger, causing electricity to build up. Ava readied her shield, but then paused. What if…?
The electricity shot at her. Ava summoned her shield, but not around her. She made the shield in a dome, facing towards the blast. The energy shot off of it right back towards the bat. The bat swooped out of the way, losing his balance in the air. Ava whooped. She had finally found a way to beat the swords! She tackled the bat, trying to wrestle his sword away from him. The bat beat his wings against her, disorienting Ava. They rolled around on the ground, fighting for control of the weapon. Ava got her hand around the hilt of the sword, feeling her palm apply a tad bit of pressure to the trigger. The bat's eyes widened as he fought harder to get her off.
Electricity crackled along the blade as they fought, Ava wasn't letting go of the handle. "STOP WHERE YOU ARE!" Both of them paused to look up at the guards who had finally caught up with Ava. The bat, taking advantage of the distraction, kicked at Ava. She let go of the sword. Let go of the trigger. A giant ball of electricity, a little bigger than Ava had she been standing, shot out of the sword, exploding as it hit the guards, sending a shock wave that sent Ava flying back. Her head hit the wooden wall behind her, pain shooting through her skull. The last thing Ava could remember was a pair of hands dragging her below the ground.
