Chapter 3 - Study Of the Queen

Third Person

After the Queen agreed to allow Elra to travel to make her alliances, Elra had hugged her tightly, expressing the depths of her gratitude, rushing off then to prepare a team to accompany her on her long journey. What Elra left in her wake, on the outside was a scared yet proud face of a Mother, but inside the Queen was a devastation that crippled the woman who pretended to be strong for her people, for her daughter.

To fully fathom the grief of a wife and a mother… One could never… When the Queen had granted her daughter to leave to create these alliances, her soul froze in despair, similar to the night she felt her husband die… She slowly stood, walking to the stair case leading to the second level of her library, she grabbed an old Human story about a boy who could fly, who lived in a world of Fairy's, Pirates and Mermaids… What her daughter didn't know was that the King had their oldest son with him, a son her entire Kingdom had long since forgotten about. The King's body was returned to her in pieces, with a note, a note she hid in her son's favorite book. A book she knew her daughter would never read, since she had such disdain for human concepts of Fairy's.

Queen Crystal,

It is from our Coven, with great pleasure, that we return your husbands body. He may be missing some limbs and organs, but we graciously return the shell of the host,. We will keep his soul and the body of Prince Owen, the next in line, and wipe your Kingdom's memory of his exisistence. To deter your hopes in sending an army after us.

With your husbands Soul in our possession, you will be unable to live the long life that is typical of you species. Without the rightful heir taking over, it will enact a curse on your people, none shall find their Fated in your Kingdom. Fairies shall go extinct in the coming ages. Next time, keep your Kin at home.

With the warmest regards,

The Dark Coven of Six.

She reread the note, like she did every night, to make sure she didn't forget her son was still out there, alive. If he was dead, Elra would have found her Fated One already. The only way to keep the Witches curse alive, was by keeping her son imprisoned. With Elra leaving the Kingdom, Queen Crystal knew she would also try to rally enough of their realm to go after the Dark Coven, and knew she would eventually discover that she had a brother, and hoped that with finding him, would restore her Kingdoms memory of him and break the curse of the land. Queen Crystal understood she couldn't tell her daughter the truth, since hysteria and manic episodes are typical of those who have lost their fated, but this note, this note was proof to her about what was happening in their kingdom.

Putting the note back in its place, the Queen headed out of her office, turning to go to bed for the night, when she suddenly felt her bones go cold, eyes frosting over, she passed out and collapsed on the floor…

-Jasmine

I am doing my usual patrols through the halls of the Castle when. I hear it. *Thud*

The Queen's office! I Start to run, throwing her office doors open as i scan the room. Seeing her collapsed on the floor, there is a soft pink light surrounding her body.

A vision.

The Queen hasn't had a vision since the King's murder… I use my mind to send a message to Doctor Araya and The Queen's Guard Gerald, letting them know the Queen's state. All of us Fairy's have our own unique ability. The Queen's is visions, mine is telepathic communication(similar to Shifter's mindlink's), which is why I do night Patrols, its easier to wake someone up by talking to them straight through their mind. None of us know what Princess Elra's power is, as it hasn't seem to come to fruition yet.

"Jasmine, what exactly happened?" Doctor Araya asks, as he rushes into the office, his power is, did you guess it?Healing, but he can't heal everything... He's got violet hair, a slim muscular build, barely taller than my 5'7" self and is wearing his flannel pajamas, seems I have woken him up. Gerald is close behind him, rushing towards Queen Crystal. Gerald is the quiet protective type. He is usually the Queen's constant shadow, especially since he can turn into just a shadow, it makes it easy for him to protect her. He has Forest Green hair, with eyes so dark, they could pass as black, standing taller than most in the kingdom.

"I was patrolling the halls, heard a thud and came rushing in. As soon as I saw her and the pink light surrounding her body, I called for you both. I'm not sure what sent her int a vision, but she hasn't had one in so long…" I respond, slowly trailing off, nervous.

"She sent me to my room, to talk to Princess Elra… Had I been here, she wouldn't have collapsed. Now with her in a vision, no one can touch her." Gerald sounds aggravated. The look on his face… It's like someone torn between anger, frustration and..scared?

"Why can't we move her?" I ask. I'm only 64, and in the fairy world, that's almost like being 21 in the human world. I was the last to be born in our Kingdom, I'm not exactly sure why no one else has had children and neither does anyone else. Not like the couples around us haven't tried…

The doctor is the one to respond to me "When someone has a vision, if someone touches them, three things can happen. The first and least harmful, is that the person who touches the one with the vision, gets sucked into the vision, leaving their body soulless. The second is that the person having the vision ends up in a coma and the one who touches thems dies. The third which is the worst case…" He trails off and moves closer to the Queen.

"There is a worse case than death and your soul being sucked into an endless vision?!" I ask, my mouth hanging open and eyes bulging out of my head.

"The worst case is that you lose all connections to everyone you were destined to be around. It strips you of your power, your wings, your family and you are to wander the world, with no memory and always feeling lost. Never finding another connection on this planet. Wandering empty and alone until you die, if your body allows you to die." Gerald finishes, as the doctor has his hands roaming high above the pink light of the Queen, assessing if she has any injuries.

"Now, Jasmine, finish your patrol. Do not speak to anyone about the state of the Queen, nor what you witnessed tonight. Understood?" Gerald finally looks at me, I nod.

"Yes sir." I nod, as I open the door of the study to leave, I hear the Doctor ask Gerald "How long will this one last? She hasn't had one of these since the King's death."

"I'm unsure Araya.. But my sister informed me that the Queen just gave Princess Elra permission to venture out of the kingdom to create alliances with the Others in this realm." Gerald sighs, "She's asking for volunteers in her inner circle to go with her. I'm afraid this may have triggered a vision for the Queen."

As i close the study door, I can't her the rest of the conversation, but I heard enough that I now know what my next step is. They may consider me a child here, but I will stop at nothing to be apart of the Princess' Guard.
