Chapter 34: Killing Boris?
Inside the room, five men stood ready—four first-tier knights, two at the early stage and two at the middle stage, alongside a fifth, an early-stage second-tier knight. Though visibility was limited to a mere five to ten meters, it was enough for them to react swiftly. Donning their leather armor, they unsheathed their swords, preparing for the impending confrontation.
Meanwhile, Ace surged through the shattered doorway and into the living room. His gaze swept over the dozen frightened men before him. Then he stepped forward and he swung his sword in a deadly arc, severing a man's head clean from his body.
Eureya recoiled at the grisly sight but steeled herself, gripping tightly the massive axe in her hands.
Determined, she charged at the group of trembling men, whose eyes darted nervously as they struggled to make sense of their chaotic surroundings. With a brutal strike, the axe buried itself deep on one of the man's forehead, sending a spray of blood into the air.
The horrifying sound of flesh being cleaved and blood splattering sparked panic among the group. Men scrambled blindly, some collapsing to the floor in terror, others crashing into walls as fear overtook them, the fog obscuring all sense of direction.
With a swift strike, Ace plunged his sword deep in another man's chest. Lilia and Nerissa also moved, cutting down the remaining men in the room without hesitation.
Nerissa's blade slashed across a man's torso while Lilia's golden sword pierced clean through a man's head.
Though victorious, the weight of taking lives shook the three women—they trembled, their breaths uneven, facing the harsh reality of their first kill. Ace, too trembled, but clenched his fists, closed his eyes, and steadied his breathing, preparing himself.
Suddenly, the locked door burst open. Five knights stormed out, their expressions fierce and wary.
"Who are you?" asked the man at the forefront, an early-stage second-tier knight, sword raised as he scrutinized the cloaked figures.
"We are the one to take your lives," Ace declared boldly, meeting the knight's gaze without falter.
"Impudent!" the knight roared and charged at Ace at a rapid speed. But to Ace, a ninth-tier knight, the attack seemed sluggish as a snail.
With a blur of movement, Ace activated Phantom Illusory Steps, appearing instantly at the knight's side. Before the man could react, Ace swung his sword in a lethal arc, sending the knight's head flying.
Though decapitated, the knight's body continued its forward momentum briefly before collapsing. Seizing the moment, Ace appeared beside the four remaining first-tier knights with lightning speed. Without giving them a chance to react, his sword flashed, severing the head of another knight in a single strike.
Turning to the three remaining knights, Ace entrusted the task to the three women. "I'll leave them to you," he said, stepping back, behind the women.
Yes, the three women said in unison.
The trio of middle-aged knights—two at the mid-stage first tier and one at the early stage first tier—stood trembling in fear, their faces pale.
Lilia and Nerissa confronted the two mid-stage knights, while Eureya faced the early-stage knight as her opponent.
Fully aware that death was inevitable, the knights braced themselves for a desperate battle. With resolved, that if they were to fall, they would drag their foes down with them.
And upon realizing their opponents were women—with trembling hands and lack of experience, the three knights' eyes blazed with fury.
They roared and charged forward, swords raised high.
They swung fiercely, but the women stood their ground.Though inexperienced in battle, their higher tiers gave them advantage—especially Nerissa, who had already reached the mid-stage of a second-tier knight.
Lilia controlled four gleaming golden daggers, sending them swirling around her opponent.
Forced into a defensive stance, the knight desperately blocked two of the daggers with a clang of steel. Yet, two more daggers slipped past his defenses, spiraling toward his unprotected back.
Despite his quick reflexes—tilting his head to evade one—the sharp blades tore through flesh, piercing his back.
The dagger twisted mid-air, and with a soft puff, it pierced the knight's head. His eyes widened in shock, a look of deep regret etched on his face before he crumpled forward with a heavy thud.
Another knight rapidly advanced toward Nerissa, but with a swift gesture, she unleashed her innate power—Divine Telekinesis. The man halted abruptly, as if he had collided with an invisible barrier, rendered completely immobile.
With a commanding push, Nerissa sent him hurtling backwards like a cannonball. He crashed against the wooden walls with tremendous force, tearing a gaping hole through the structure. His momentum finally ceased only after smashing into a second wall, collapsing part of it upon impact.
Meanwhile, the early-stage first-tier knight lunged at Eureya, sword aimed directly at her neck. Instinctively, Eureya countered with a powerful swing of her massive double-bladed axe, channeling every ounce of her strength into the blow.
Caught off guard and afraid of death, the knight had no choice but to parry the massive double-bladed axe with his sword. The clash rang sharply—clang, clang—as the force of the impact made his hand tremble, and he staggered backward, cold sweat beading on his forehead.
Meanwhile, the knight who had been hurled like a cannonball struggled to rise from the wreckage of splintered wood and dust. Without hesitation, Nerissa controls her four gleaming mithril daggers, aiming them at the knight and she gives him no chance to recover.
With a swift, sharp whoosh, the daggers sped through the air, striking before he could react. Piercing his throat, head, and chest, the blades drew streams of blood. Horror flashed across the man's eyes as he collapsed heavily to the ground, lifeless.
At the same time, Eureya engaged in a relentless exchange of blows with her opponent. The sword clashed against the axe, sparks flying even in the dim light as the man was pressed steadily backward.
Though Eureya was still inexperienced, her status as an early-stage second-tier knight gave her a significant edge over her adversary, who was only an early-stage first-tier knight, gradually tipping the momentum in her favor.
In terms of experience, Eureya's opponent was superior, his skill evident as he managed to stab Eureya with his sword. Fortunately, Eureya was equipped with a unique-grade demon spider cloak, which proved impenetrable, shielding her from the attack.
Undeterred by this setback, Eureya retaliated, striking the man with her axe with all her might. Though he managed to block the blow, the sheer force of the impact sent him hurtling backward.
Seizing the opportunity, Eureya, noticing her opponent panting and his hands trembling, unleashed the water arrows—an ability she had diligently learned.
Soon, a dozen water arrows condensed and hovered in the air. With a whoosh, they swiftly targeted the man. With clanging sounds, he desperately blocked the water arrows aimed at his vital spots, such as his head and chest. However, he was unable to dodge or block those aimed at his legs, and they pierced his flesh.
"Arghh..." he groaned in agony, collapsing to his knees as four arrows, two in each leg, penetrated his flesh, rendering him immobile.
Once the water arrows melted into water, blood flowed freely from his wounds, staining the ground beneath him. Seeing the opportune moment to eliminate her opponent, Eureya condensed another dozen water arrows. With a whoosh, she unleashed them, but this time, the man was too weak to defend himself. He tried to block the arrows, but he couldn't intercept them all, and one of the arrows pierced his chest.
He lowered his head, his eyes widened as he looked down at the wound on his chest. Blood gurgled from it, staining his clothes crimson. With a look of despair in his eyes, he finally succumbed to his injuries, collapsing to the ground headfirst, completely lifeless.
Upon eliminating her opponent, Eureya panted heavily. The use of her abilities, especially those that consumed her life energy, had taken a toll on her. The fog that had covered the area slowly diminished, revealing the aftermath of the battle.
"Let's go above," Ace said, as he reached out and held Eureya's hand. Together, Eureya and Ace ascended the stairs.
There, they encountered a man completely stunned, slumped on the stairs with horror etched on his face, his whole body trembling uncontrollably.
"Don't, don't come here, don't kill me," he pleaded tremblingly, his eyes wide with fear as he looked at them.
But, without hesitation, Lilia inhaled deeply, focusing her mind, and controlled the golden dagger with precision, sending it through the air to pierce the man's head, killing him instantly on the stair.
Then, Ace, followed by Eureya, Lilia, and Nerissa, continued upwards. Upon reaching the upper floor, Ace kicked the door with a resounding crash, bursting it open and revealing the scene within.
Inside, Boris gazed in horror at the collapsing door. Although he didn't know exactly what had transpired outside, he had a suspicion upon hearing the clanging sounds of weapons and the horrified shouts of the man outside.
Immediately, Boris grabbed a dagger from the table beside him and, with a desperate move, ran towards the two women. He seized the daughter, a young girl, and placed the dagger against her throat, holding her hostage.
"Don't come here, or I'll kill her!" he threatened, his voice trembled with desperation as he pressed the dagger against the girl's neck, drawing a thin line of blood.
Ace's eyes narrowed,he tilted his head slightly and looked at Nerissa behind him.
Nerissa understood what he meant. Without hesitation, she stepped forward and was the first to enter the room.
"You can't kill me! The town Lord is my brother-in-law! If you kill me, the town Lord will hunt you to the end of the world! So the four of you better kneel now if you don't want to be hunted! I might even spare your lives as my slaves!" Boris threatened with arrogance.
But upon seeing that the four intruders didn't heed his words and continued to advance, his fear grew.
"I said, don't come here, or else I'll kill her!" Boris shouted desperately, his grip tightened on the dagger against the girl's throat.
Seeing this, Nerissa raised her hand. With her hand in a grabbing motion, she exerted her control to dagger, and the dagger in Boris's hand was pulled away from him as if by an invisible force. Then, with a forceful push, Nerissa sent Boris flying towards the wooden wall, shattering it upon impact. Boris was thrown outside, plummeting to the ground below.
The mother, relieved that the threat had been neutralized, immediately rushed to help her crying daughter. The two huddled together, trembling in fear.
"You don't have to worry anymore. You two can go out now," Nerissa said gently.
Upon hearing her words, the mother and daughter exchanged a look, their eyes filled with relief. Then, in unison, they bowed deeply towards the four.
"Thank you, benefactors," they said sincerely. Then, without hesitation, they ran out of the room.
"Eureya, it's your turn," Nerissa said
"Hmm... Leave it to me, sister" Eureya replied. Then, the four of them stepped forward and looked downwards, their gazes fixed on Boris, who was lying on the ground below, panting heavily and looking upwards, his eyes filled with despair.
Without hesitation, Eureya jumped down, followed closely by the three.
"Don't kill me! I can give you anything! I can give you all my wealth!" Boris pleaded desperately, his fat body trembled as he sat up and crawled backwards.
Eureya stepped forward, with the massive axe held firmly in her hand. Boris still wanted to say more, to beg for his life, but Eureya gave him no chance. She raised the massive two-bladed axe high above her head, then with a swift and decisive motion, she swung it down, splitting Boris's head in two.
Although Ace was confident in his abilities and unafraid of the guards, he preferred to avoid unnecessary trouble.
"Let's go," Ace said.
Then, Eureya pulled out her massive axe from Boris's head, afterwards the four retreated together swiftly and disappeared into the night.
When the guards noticed and reached Boris's residence, it was already too late. Everyone in the residence was dead, Boris and his men had all met their demise.
As for the women on the lower floor and the mother and daughter, they had already seized their opportunity to escape and left the place.
Although Ace was not afraid of the guards, he didn't want unnecessary trouble.
So he ordered them to retreat. "Let's go, Ace said."
