Chapter 51: Please Have Some Self-Respect
Gu Yuena looked at Aotian expectantly, and Di Tian and the others also looked at Aotian expectantly.
They hoped Aotian would say something impassioned to boost morale, then lead them to fight against the humans.
With such a senior, who was even stronger than the Dragon God, helping them, they could surely avenge themselves and resolve the soul beast crisis with ease.
Under everyone's expectant gazes, Aotian slowly shook his head. "Sorry, this is a grudge between you and the humans. It has nothing to do with me."
He just wanted to live a carefree life. Why would he lead the soul beasts to war against humans, or even annihilate them? Was he that bored?
Besides, if the humans were wiped out, how would he explain it to Bibi Dong?
Gu Yuena hadn't expected Aotian to refuse and immediately grew anxious. "Ancestor, you are our ancestor! Now that we are being suppressed by humans, how can you not stand up for us?"
She couldn't understand, and neither could Di Tian. Their own kind was being suppressed and nearly wiped out by humans, so how could this ancestor remain indifferent?
"Don't call me Ancestor," Aotian said. "Back then, the Dragon God merely absorbed some of the dragon blood that emanated from me while I was asleep and obtained the Dragon Race's legacy. But what does that have to do with me? I didn't intentionally create him, so why should I be responsible for you?
"In my opinion, you soul beasts are indeed pitiful. However, I now live in the human world, and my beloved is also a human. If you intend to exterminate humanity, I'm sorry, but I cannot help you."
Gu Yuena said anxiously, "Ancestor—"
"Don't call me Ancestor."
"Senior Ao, you aren't human, so why do you side with them? Humans cultivate quickly, and their probability of producing powerhouses is higher than ours. They can absorb ten-thousand-year or even hundred-thousand-year soul rings after just a few decades of cultivation. The growth cycle for soul beasts, however, is extremely long. If this continues, soul beasts will one day be exterminated."
Aotian said, "I think two races don't necessarily have to fight to the death. Perhaps a way can be found for peaceful coexistence."
Gu Yuena shook her head. "What other way could there be? Humans cannot continue to cultivate without soul rings, so they are destined to slaughter us soul beasts. Therefore, if we are to survive, our only option is to kill all humans, or at least all human Spirit Masters."
Aotian stood up. "Sorry, I've been asleep for hundreds of millions of years. Now that I'm awake, I just want to enjoy life in this world. Don't drag me into the messy affairs of your race war."
In his view, the extinction of a race was perfectly normal. In the five hundred million years he had been asleep, countless races had surely gone extinct.
After speaking, he looked at Xiao Wu. "Xiao Wu, let's go back."
Gu Yuena became anxious and quickly stood up. "Senior Ao, wait a moment."
Aotian stopped.
Gu Yuena turned to look at Di Tian and the others. "You all go out first. I want to talk to Senior Ao alone."
Di Tian and the others had no choice but to leave the wooden house.
Aotian said, "Xiao Wu, you should also go out first."
A moment later, only Gu Yuena and Aotian remained in the wooden house. Both sat down.
Gu Yuena asked, "Senior Ao, since you don't want to help us, why did you come here to find us?"
Aotian said, "I sensed your presence long ago. I was just a little interested in your identity as part of the Dragon Race, so I came to have a look."
Gu Yuena bit her lip, and a captivating blush suddenly appeared on her pale face. As if she had made a decision, she said, "Senior Ao, would you mind shielding us from the people outside? I have something I'd like to say to you in private."
Aotian was a little puzzled by what Gu Yuena intended to do, but he still casually set up a barrier.
"Alright, now they can't see us or hear anything from in here. You can speak freely," Aotian said.
Gu Yuena stood up and, with light, graceful steps, came before Aotian.
Her lustrous silver hair flowed all the way down to her ankles, and Aotian couldn't help but glance twice at her small, fair feet.
He frowned, unsure of what Gu Yuena was really trying to do.
Standing before Aotian, Gu Yuena's pretty face grew redder and redder, and even the exposed parts of her fair, smooth skin were suffused with a faint blush.
Her body also exuded a captivating, subtle fragrance that made one want to take a deep breath.
Aotian had to admit that Gu Yuena was the most ethereal woman he had ever seen.
Gu Yuena lightly bit her red lips, and the skirt she had condensed with her spirit power gradually dissipated, presenting her most perfect self before Aotian.
Aotian finally felt the urge to suck in a sharp breath. His heart rate slowly accelerated, and a sudden stir arose within him.
He forced himself to turn his head away. "Gu Yuena, what are you doing?"
Gu Yuena lowered her head, the blush on her cheeks spreading to the tips of her ears. She dared not look at Aotian.
"Senior Ao, I know the desires of the Dragon Race are great. The Dragon God himself had nine children, and even Di Tian has Bi Ji and Zi Ji. If you don't find me lacking... Gu Yuena is willing to be your woman."
Her entire body trembled slightly as she extended a trembling hand, wanting to take Aotian's.
Aotian pushed her hand away. "Gu Yuena, please have some self-respect."
Gu Yuena was a little aggrieved. "Why? Am I not beautiful enough?"
Aotian shook his head, still not daring to look directly at her. "No."
"Then why aren't you willing to accept me?"
"I already have a lover. Besides, feelings need to be nurtured," Aotian replied.
"Feelings? What is that?" Gu Yuena asked, puzzled.
"Feelings mean liking someone," Aotian explained.
"Oh. Then I like you, and I don't mind if you have other women." Gu Yuena's large, beautiful eyes stared at Aotian.
Soul beasts had very simple views on such matters; it was quite normal for a powerful soul beast to have multiple partners.
In her eyes, Aotian possessed great strength and was very handsome, making him the best choice for a mate.
Furthermore, if she became Aotian's woman, she might be able to persuade him to help the Soul Beast Clan.
How could Aotian not understand the reason for Gu Yuena's sudden offer?
He certainly didn't believe his charm was so great that a noble woman would offer her precious body at their very first meeting.
Her primary goal was still the future of the soul beasts.
Aotian couldn't help but admire Gu Yuena for being willing to sacrifice herself for the future of her people.
He sighed. "Put your clothes on. If you want to be my friend, that's fine, but there's no need for this. If you continue, then I'm leaving."
Panicked, Gu Yuena rushed forward to grab Aotian.
Aotian was already burning with lust; how could he dare let her get any closer? With a helpless sigh, his figure suddenly vanished, leaving the place entirely.
"The barrier is about to disappear. Get dressed quickly." Aotian's parting words echoed in Gu Yuena's ears.
Gu Yuena was stunned for a moment before a long dress reappeared on her body. The blush on her face, however, would not fade so quickly.
"Senior Ao... is gone," she murmured, her voice filled with endless desolation.
