Everyone was stunned as they looked at the furious middle-aged man.
Aside from a few patients, every doctor and nurse at the Second Hospital recognized him instantly — the man who bore a faint resemblance to Zeng Zhiwei was none other than Li Sheng, the hospital's dean!
The Chen father and son, who had been so arrogant moments ago, broke out in a cold sweat. They were doomed — how could they have offended such a powerful figure?
"What's wrong? Cat got your tongues? Who just called my teacher an 'old fraud'?" Li Sheng's face darkened with anger. Without Yao Qihuang, he would never have achieved his current position.
The saying goes: A teacher for one day, a father for life. To Li Sheng, Yao Qihuang was as respected as his own father — perhaps even more so.
Everyone's gaze shifted toward the young doctor who had spoken earlier — the one who had called Yao Qihuang a liar.
Li Sheng immediately noticed and fixed the young man with an icy stare. "Chen Yu, was it you?"
"D-Dean, I… I didn't mean…" Chen Yu stammered, trembling.
"So you do remember I'm the dean? Let me ask you this — if my teacher, the man I respect most, is a liar, then what does that make me? Tell me — what am I?!" Li Sheng's voice was sharp and cold.
"Dean, my son is still young. He didn't mean—" Chen Dahai tried to interject.
"Shut up!" Li Sheng roared, eyes blazing. "Your son is ignorant, and what about you? Are you any better?"
Chen Dahai froze.
"You've spoiled your son, let him act like a tyrant in the oncology department, and now you dare insult my teacher? What does that make me — a 'little liar'? And what does that make you?" Li Sheng's anger filled the room.
Chen Dahai was speechless. He wanted to argue back but suddenly realized something — Li Sheng's teacher… could it really be that Yao Qihuang?
Li Sheng's teacher was rumored to be one of China's three greatest traditional medicine masters — Yao Qihuang himself!
"Y-you… are you Yao Lao?" Chen Dahai asked shakily, his face turning pale.
Li Sheng snorted. "Now you recognize my teacher? Too late!"
His words confirmed Yao Qihuang's identity. Chen Dahai's knees went weak, nearly collapsing.
Normally, he wouldn't fear Li Sheng — he had strong backing and expected to be promoted soon. But Yao Qihuang was on another level — a legendary doctor with powerful connections, respected even by top officials.
Even the mayor would greet Yao Qihuang with a smile and deference.
Li Sheng sneered inwardly. Chen Dahai, you thought hiding under a big tree made you untouchable. Now you've offended my teacher — even your so-called backing won't save you!
He turned to the crowd. "Who can tell me exactly what happened?"
His eyes landed on a deputy director loyal to him. The man quickly stepped forward and explained everything.
"Dean Li, I have a video you might want to see," said Xiao Chen, who had been silently observing.
"Oh? And you are?" Li Sheng's tone softened — his subordinates had mentioned this young man was with his teacher. Could he be the old master's new disciple?
Before Li Sheng could ask, Yao Qihuang said, "Li Sheng, this is Xiao Chen."
Li Sheng was taken aback. For Yao Qihuang to personally introduce him meant this young man was someone special — perhaps even his personal disciple!
But then Yao Qihuang added calmly, "Xiao Chen is my peer. You should address him as your uncle."
"What?!" Li Sheng froze, stunned.
Even Xiao Chen was speechless. Uncle?
"Heh, Dean Li, just call me Xiao Chen," he said with a small smile.
Relieved, Li Sheng chuckled awkwardly. "Alright, then just call me Lao Li."
Xiao Chen nodded and handed him the phone. "Here's the video, Brother Li."
Li Sheng's expression softened at the casual address, but after watching the clip, his face turned dark again.
"Outrageous! These people act worse than gangsters. This must be dealt with immediately!"
Chen Dahai's face drained of color. He knew it was over.
"I hereby announce: Chen Dahai and Chen Yu are suspended, and the relevant departments will open an investigation!" Li Sheng declared.
Chen Dahai collapsed to the floor — an investigation would destroy him completely. His son was even worse off; without his father's protection, he was finished.
"Everyone, you may leave," Li Sheng ordered. "No need to embarrass the hospital any further."
He returned the phone to Xiao Chen with a polite smile. "Mr. Xiao, I apologize on behalf of the hospital. You can delete the video."
Xiao Chen nodded and deleted it in front of him. "It's done."
Turning to Li Hanhou and his mother, Li Sheng said gently, "Please rest assured — we'll cover the treatment costs and move you to a private ward."
"Dean Li, we'll pay the expenses ourselves," Xiao Chen replied. "But please arrange a single room. This environment isn't good for her recovery."
"Of course," Li Sheng said quickly.
At that moment, Chen Dahai crawled toward Yao Qihuang, begging, "Yao Lao, I was wrong, please forgive me!"
Yao Qihuang looked down coldly. "You've brought this on yourself."
Li Sheng motioned to the guards. "Take them away."
Then he turned to his teacher. "Is there anything else, Teacher?"
"No," said Yao Qihuang, then looked at Xiao Chen. "Now that you've taken the pulse, what's your conclusion?"
Li Sheng's eyes widened. Xiao Chen's a doctor too?
Xiao Chen nodded. "The lung cancer is advanced but hasn't spread. Based on her pulse, she has at most two months left."
Yao Qihuang nodded in agreement — their diagnoses matched perfectly.
"Two months?" Li Hanhou's eyes reddened.
Xiao Chen patted his shoulder. "Don't lose hope. I can't cure her, but I can ease her pain and extend her life — at least three years."
"Three years?!"
Everyone in the room froze in disbelief — even Yao Qihuang stood up in shock.
