Emily thought she understood the depths of Alexander's possessiveness. She thought she'd seen every facet of his obsession, accepted every dark truth about what they'd become together.
Then he told her about the dinner with Julian.
"Absolutely not," Emily said, staring at Alexander like he'd lost his mind. "You can't be serious."
"I'm completely serious." Alexander was adjusting his cufflinks with that casual precision that meant he'd already made up his mind and was simply informing her of the decision. "Dinner tonight at eight. The three of us. Private dining room at the Peninsula."
"Why?" Emily demanded. "Why would you want me anywhere near your brother after everything that's happened?"
Alexander's smile was cold and calculating. "Because Julian is making moves against me. Trying to rally the board, whispering to shareholders about my recent 'instability.' And I need to send him a message about exactly where he stands."
