Chapter - 11
[Master, would you like to see your status?]
Leo was lying on the ground getting bombarded by non-stop questions from Grendel when suddenly Aiva interrupted the conversation.
Leo looked at the notification and suddenly remembered that since coming to this new world, he is still to check the system.
But this was still not the right time. He was clearly not in the safe and if the Blackfang bandits came searching for their brothers, he would be in very deep shit. He was already out of all the tricks.
On top of that the adrenaline surge was fading, leaving behind a deep, throbbing pain in his ribs and his whole body.
He was alive, but he felt like he had been kicked by the awesome Hilda a few dozen times.
"Show me my HP," He mentally commanded the System to tell him his HP for now. He wanted to see the numbers to quantify the damage.
[LEO DRAGOMIR - STATUS]
[LEVEL: 2]
[HP: 146 / 1000]
'One hundred and Forty-Six hit points,' he thought grimly, 'One more solid hit and I would have been a smear on the landscape.'
The level-up must have refilled and increased his total HP, which meant he had been even closer to death than he realized.
'I better be careful from now on while accepting the quests,' He wasn't going to make a habit of playing touch and go with death.
'Give me the Health Potion,' Leo asked Aiva. And just as he asked, a small vial of glowing red liquid appeared in his hand.
Without hesitation, he uncorked it and downed the entire thing in one gulp.
It tasted faintly of cherries and something metallic, like blood. And with that a warm, soothing sensation immediately spread from his stomach through his entire body.
It eased up the sharp pain in his ribs to a dull, manageable ache.
DING!
[Minor Health Potion consumed. +25 HP restored.]
[HP: 171 / 1000]
It wasn't a full heal, but it was enough. He could stand straight without wincing.
It was then that Leo finally had the energy to even listen to what the old man was grumbling about.
The old man was staring at him with a face that was a mix of pure, undiluted terror and a strange, new kind of respect.
He looked at Leo as if he was some kind of monster wearing a boy's skin, but a good monster.
"What… what in the gods' name are you?" Grendel asked with his eyes open and almost spitting on Leo's face.
Listening to him Leo had a smile playing on his lips. He wiped a smear of blood from his cheek with the back of his hand.
"Me?" he said, his voice dripping with arrogance.
"I am the guy who just saved your wrinkly ass. And gave you the opportunity to be the hero.
"Now instead of standing there shaking like a leaf in a hurricane, you should be on your knees thanking me."
"And this?" He gestured with his blood-stained dagger towards the two corpses. "This is just me taking out the trash of the world."
"Now, are you going to be useful, or are you just going to be scenery?" Leo asked, his voice a bit too loud for the old man.
Grendel swallowed hard, Leo's voice scared the shit out of him and he nodded quickly, "U-useful! I can be useful!"
"Good." Leo's attention was already elsewhere. The promise of new loot was far more interesting than the old man's fear.
"Now hurry along. Search this place for anything good. This is now our battle reward."
And with that he pushed the Old man out of his sight, so that he could finally be alone for a while.
He had used up almost everything in the fight, he needed to get new stuff. And he knew just the way to do that.
"Aiva, open the Bronze Reward Pack. Let's see what the big prize is for completing the quest."
And he was going to keep the Silver Reward Pack just in case of an emergency. System might help him out when he would face trouble.
[As you wish, Master]
[Opening Bronze Reward Pack…]
DING!
[Congratulations! You have received the following items:]
→ Predator's Instincts (Passive Skill)]
→ Shadowweave Tunic (Common)]
→ 500 Gold Coins
Leo's eyes widened, his smirk turning into a genuine, greedy grin. "Now that's what I'm talking about."
He immediately selected the Predator's Instincts skill and a small glowing card appeared in his hands.
"Use Predator's Instincts," Leo whispered and the card dissolved into motes of golden light that flowed into his forehead.
In an instant, he felt his heart rate increasing, his hair stood up, and a jolt of electricity ran through his body.
After a second or two when everything settled down, Leo opened his eyes.
His senses sharpened. The scent of blood in the air became clearer, the sound of the crackling fire more distinct.
He could almost feel the subtle shift of the wind on his skin.
[Skill Acquired: Predator's Instincts (Permanent)]
[Description: Your senses are heightened to a predatory level. You can more easily detect hidden enemies, track subtle movements, and sense killing intent directed at you. When 20% HP is left, Agility and Strength are increased by +5 each.]
"Unreal!" Leo was elated. This was a game-changer. It was a skill that would keep him alive, a permanent upgrade that fell into his lap at the right moment.
Next, he examined the tunic.
His Adventurer's clothes have taken a beating. These guys saved him a bunch but right now, their durability was at [110/700]. It was the right time to change his armour.
And with a thought, his battered and bloody Adventurer's Clothes vanished, replaced by the new armor.
The Shadowweave Tunic was made of a dark, almost black material that seemed to absorb the light falling on it.
Leo traced his fingers over his chest and it felt soft like silk.
It had a high collar and dark silver buckles, making him look less like a random adventurer and more like an assassin.
[Shadowweave Tunic (Common)]
[Type: Light Armor]
[Durability: 1500/1500]
[Bonus: Agility +3, Stealth +5]
[Description: A tunic woven with threads from the Shadowfell spider's web. It muffles sound and blends into the darkness.]
Triple the agility bonus and a new stealth stat. He felt faster, lighter, and infinitely more dangerous.
"Aiva, I love you… Muaannh" There was no limit to how happy Leo was right now. If Aiva was in front of him, he would have kissed her.
[Thank you, Master. But I can't love you back. I am not capable of doing so.]
"Oh whatever," Leo didn't actually care.
The 500 gold coins were just the icing on the cake, a huge boost to his starting capital.
"Now, for the other prize," he muttered to himself, his eyes gleaming with amusement.
He pulled up the description for the other reward from the quest.
[Potion: Elixir of Potent Lust]
[Type: Consumable (Extremely Potent)]
[Effect: Upon consumption, the user's libido and sexual stamina are increased by 1000% for two hours. All senses related to pleasure are massively amplified. The user exudes an aura of raw, irresistible pheromones, making them intensely desirable to those around them.]
[Warning: If the user's body is not strong enough, side effects may include dehydration, muscle cramps, and an overwhelming urge to conquer everything and everyone in a fifty-meter radius. If the user is not able to engage in sexual intercourse, his penis might also end up blowing. So it is not recommended for individuals with a weak heart or a lack of suitable partners.]
[Goddess Lysara personally brewed this batch. Handle with extreme care… or extreme enthusiasm.]
Leo let out a low whistle, a predatory grin spreading across his face. "Holy shit. Lysara, you magnificent bastard." He could already think of a dozen… no, a hundred fun uses for something like that.
This little bottle wasn't just a potion; it was a weapon of mass seduction, a key to unlocking a whole new level of the game.
He carefully stored it away in his inventory. It was a treasure to be saved for a very, very special occasion.
His good mood was infectious. He felt powerful, rich, and full of potential. He was no longer just some transmigrated gamer; he was a rising force.
"Alright, old man," Leo screamed in happiness.
"Time to clean up."
