Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 Item No. 15 [Fire Salt]

Gray almond water, fire salt, tarp, battery.

The supply crate was so normal that Leon found it a bit hard to accept. He stroked his chin and muttered, "Could it be that my luck has turned around?"

He put all the items into his backpack, only holding the new item, fire salt, in his hand.

Fire salt is a volatile crystal discovered in the Backrooms.

When found, they usually appear as irregular, orange, slightly transparent crystals, ranging in size from 1 to 5 cm.

Fire salt has a low melting point of approximately 47°C. Once this threshold is reached, the crystals melt into transparent fire oil. This fire salt can burn effectively even in low-oxygen environments. The fire oil can be cooled to create artificial large fire salt ingots.

Most importantly, when thrown, fire salt crystals easily shatter and produce a certain amount of heat and intense light in the form of burning sparks, enough to cause first to second-degree burns to anyone directly hit.

In the Backrooms, it's considered a decent defensive item.

"If this were made into a one-cubic-meter block...tsk tsk, just thinking about it is exciting."

"I remember there being a fire salt mine, but I forgot which level it was on. Never mind, I'll naturally come across it when I have time later."

He put the fire salt into his backpack. This item is quite rare on Level 1, but it could be kept as a small Molotov cocktail.

He got back on his scooter and headed deeper. The number of supply crates was also very small; Leon only found three after an hour of searching.

After taking down the 'monster guard' protecting the supply crate, Leon collected the Skin Stealer's corpse and directly exchanged it for energy value.

"It's this disgusting guy again..."

Skin Stealers are very numerous on Levels 1, 2, and 3, so encountering them isn't unusual.

He called out to Eric.

"Let's go, we're heading back."

Summoning a wooden door, the two returned to the Main World. Leon took out a few bottles of the gray almond water he had obtained from Level 1 and handed them to Eric.

"Keep these few bottles for now."

Initially, he also had some almond water in his backpack, but it all disappeared after the big explosion.

Eric took the almond water and said, "Thanks, Leon. My pen is almost out of ink. Can you help me find a pen?"

"No problem. I'll go check out Level 2 first, and when I get back, I'll find you some office supplies."

When he returned, he would buy some notebooks and pens for Eric to use until he was old.

Leon suddenly remembered the camera. He had kept saying he would buy one last time but had forgotten. It was a good opportunity for him to go to the Conan World during the day and procure all the items he needed.

Walking to the wooden door leading to Level 2, Leon smiled and teased, "You'd better hide far away. If the explosion hasn't ended, your small physique will only have one option: to be blown to death."

Upon hearing this, Eric immediately ran behind an oak tree and hid, only peeking out his head to look at Leon.

"Alright!"

Seeing Eric's actions, Leon couldn't help but give a thumbs-up and say, "You really are a talent, you motherfucker."

However, he also hid behind the wooden door and cautiously opened it. There was no fire, no explosion, only a smell of burning coming from behind the door.

Leon poked his head out and took a look at the situation inside Level 2.

"My god, is everything burnt?"

Previously, the Level 2 tunnel was oppressive and messy, but now the entire tunnel was a scene of smoke and fire, with black becoming the main theme of the channels.

All the incandescent lights on the ceiling had been destroyed by the impact and flames. Looking around, the ground was covered with burnt incandescent light fragments.

"It seems I've done something incredible... I wonder if there were any Wanderers or organization members in this area..."

He didn't know if there were any before the explosion, but after the explosion, there was definitely no way any living person could have survived.

Unless... they were hiding in a room.

Stepping back onto the territory of Level 2, he took out a nuclear-powered torch from Minecraft. It was called a nuclear-powered torch because it could burn indefinitely, providing light to the player.

Holding the torch, he walked into Level 2, carefully observing his surroundings. There were no drops from his death on the ground, which he imagined was normal.

After all, dropped items would be 'deleted' by the flames.

The tunnel floor was covered with debris and ash, making the already difficult path even more troublesome.

He took out his iron pickaxe and struck other pipes near the wall, but this time, no liquid flowed out of the broken pipes.

"Did it all drain out somewhere else?"

Leon frowned slightly. The liquid inside the pipes was a high-quality item for exchanging energy value. It would be a shame if it was gone.

"Smile would definitely love this dark environment..."

No sooner had he spoken than a glowing Smile appeared in the tunnel.

Leon: "..."

Smiles like dark places and are attracted to light sources, plus his ability to attract Entities a hundredfold, so it was normal for Smiles to appear in this unlit area.

It's just that...

'Do Smiles also gather in groups???'

There was definitely more than one glowing Smile in the darkness. Through the mini-map, he could also see some Smiles approaching from a distance.

Leon looked at the glowing Smiles getting closer in the darkness, wondering if the value of this group of Smiles was enough to cover the cost of repairing his shield.

'Open the door!'

He softly called out, and the wooden door appeared behind him. Leon extended his middle finger at the Smiles in the darkness, then retreated through the wooden door.

The provoked Smiles sped up and charged forward, but no matter how fast they were, they couldn't be faster than Leon retreating back to the Main World.

At this moment, a thought flashed through Leon's mind. He didn't close the wooden door, leaving it open. He wanted to see if the Smiles could pass through the wooden door.

With a bang, the Smiles outside seemed to hit a wall. Even their invisible limbs couldn't get through, and only a tapping sound could be heard.

'Are they restricted? Can Entities not enter?'

This news was good for Leon. At least he didn't have to worry about any Entities running in and blocking his respawn point.

Looking at the Smiles outside the wooden door, opening their large mouths wanting to bite him, Leon showed a mischievous smile, took out an iron sword from his backpack, and forcefully stabbed it through the wooden door.

"Come bite me! I'm stabbing again! Come in and hit me!"

A series of numbers rose from above the head of the foremost Smile, but it had no way to deal with Leon.

Then it made a strange sound, and the Smiles that had been gathered at the door all retreated, but they didn't go far, just staring at him in the darkness.

"They're quite intelligent..."

Smiles have tribes; they communicate with each other and can even wage war with other Entity tribes.

"You're bullying me because I'm outnumbered, huh? If you're so capable, don't leave! Wait until I buy some pumpkins and come back, then I'll play with you properly!"
