Zara
Ranold jumped down three steps and landed deftly on the flat surface, then turned to face me. His expression was clearly troubled as he stood before me, his hands shoved deep into his pockets.
"I'm serious, Zara. There are things about Kane you don't know. Please don't get involved in his world; it's too dark for you. Leave before you get sucked in."
I froze. Ranold didn't understand how deeply my life had been disrupted. Barely maintaining my sanity, I had already gone too far, but I wasn't going to leave until I had all the answers.
"I will remember your words." But his words left a mark on my soul. "Don't get involved in his world; it's too dark for you." What exactly did he mean?
Luckily, we reached the underground parking garage. He held the door for me and gave me his signature charming smile. I thanked him for escorting me downstairs and headed to the car.
