Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: The Special Bomb

When Allen was little, he had first awakened his power, his body suddenly turned green, transforming into slime.

Allen used to live in a poor family with many brothers and sisters, but once his body started to change, everyone looked at him differently.

"You monster!" said his mother.

"Are you even human?!" shouted his father again and again.

All the brothers and sisters stared at him with hate and fear.

One day, Allen decided to leave home. He didn't know where to go, so he simply wandered around. Eros found him one day, hiding in a small street, scared and alone. Eros understood it was because of his strange body, though Allen never told him the full truth. He simply said that for as long as he remembered, he had been on the street.

Over time, Allen grew up. He kept his past secret and even forgot many things about it, for example, whether he had originally been male or female. Now Allen sometimes took on a male form, sometimes a female one, though he could not recreate organic parts.

Despite his strange body, Allen trusted Eros with his life. He might seem closed off with others, but once he gained confidence, Allen became fun and lively to have around.

Allen's body was unique. No matter how many times it was destroyed, he could always reform, but he had one weakness: a core. That core was his true heart, and if anyone ever destroyed it, Allen would die.

Mantblast, in the middle of battle, had noticed Allen was protecting something. He couldn't see it yet, but he knew it existed.

'Let's just wait for him to slip up… then I'll strike', thought Mantblast.

The two warriors stood a few steps apart, facing each other.

Allen advanced. Mantblast leapt and slammed his shield into the ground, pressing Allen's body beneath it. Allen split his body at the last second, narrowly dodging the crushing weight.

'Where is the important part?!' Mantblast thought as he scanned the slime's scattered pieces. He noticed one part was more green than the rest and swung his sword at it.

Allen realized Mantblast had figured something out and liquefied instantly, melting into the ground. At the same time, another piece of his body formed a spear and stabbed Mantblast's arm.

'He's onto me… I have to end this fast' thought Allen. Rising from the ground behind Mantblast, Allen prepared another strike.

His unique abilities weren't simple magic, reshaping his body was natural, but splitting apart, liquefying, and controlling multiple pieces took energy akin to magic. He also had one forbidden spell… one that shattered his body completely and left him weakened for days.

Mantblast, ignoring the spear wound, spun fast and attacked the original body again. Allen barely had time to shape a blade to parry, but Mantblast's overwhelming strength pushed him into the wall. He recalled his second half just in time before Mantblast hurled his shield at him.

Allen split his body into two parts to dodge, but he hadn't seen Mantblast above leaping down with his sword raised. The blade slashed Allen's upper body, though his core was safe below. Allen instantly retreated, leaving behind slime on the wall. That slime solidified into a blade and struck at Mantblast.

Mantblast blocked, but the pressure was heavy. Gritting his teeth, he grabbed his shield, threw it to the ground, and leapt onto it.

Thanks to the cave's slope, the shield slid, scraping sparks from its spiked edges. Mantblast leaned forward, riding it like a sled, gaining just enough speed to close in. With a sudden push, he made the shield jump and landed perfectly above Allen.

Crashing down, he drove his sword into Allen's body, trying to split him in half. But suddenly Allen's slime hardened, stopping the blade.

"ARGHHH!" shouted Mantblast, pulling his weapon free and hacking at Allen again and again. But nothing worked. His blade cut, but the slime body didn't break anymore.

Panting, confused and furious, Mantblast fell to his knees. 'Why?! Why can't I hurt him?!'

Allen calmly recalled all of his scattered parts and stepped back.

"You were unlucky," Allen said, pointing behind Mantblast.

The krukin wall shifted, opening a gap. Through it, Mantblast saw Tauren, bloodied, broken, his body covered in cuts.

A few minutes earlier, during Vane's fight…

"If I fall, and you see one of my body parts near you, use your Heart of Thorns," Allen had whispered.

"We know it works on every part of your body," Tauren replied, "but how will you get it past all these enemies?"

"I have my ways," Allen said with quiet certainty.

While fighting, Allen had secretly slid a fragment of his body toward Tauren, timing it perfectly. Tauren, with a smirk, placed his hand on it.

"See? I told you Allen can never lose."

Vane sighed in relief, even as he struggled to breathe.

Back in the present, Mantblast turned again, ready to strike Allen. But Allen didn't move.

"Jelly Bomb," he said quietly.

Two pieces of his body shaped into spheres, glowing, then shot forward at terrifying speed. Mantblast raised his sword in defense, but the explosion was massive. The bombs turned into acid on impact, melting through Mantblast's armor and searing his flesh. Even the nearby krukins were splashed and burned.

Mantblast collapsed, his skin scarred, his armor ruined.

Allen staggered, his vision blurred, his body collapsing into smaller, weaker pieces.

"Now Vane!" shouted Tauren.

Vane, now with the shape of a boffalo, charged again, carrying them toward safety. Tauren bled heavily, Vane was covered in wounds, and Allen was barely conscious.

The cave shook with the blast. Acid hissed against stone, the air filled with the sharp sting of smoke and burning metal. Mantblast staggered, armor melted, flesh scorched, his breath coming ragged and shallow. For the first time in years, his eyes wavered, not with fear, but with something close to admiration.

Allen collapsed to the side, his body reduced to a small, trembling mass. Tauren grabbed him with one arm, blood still dripping from his own wounds.

The battlefield froze for a moment, only the distant clash of steel and growls of dying Krukins echoing. Then, shadows moved. A group of Krukins rushed forward, snarling, not at Tauren or Vane, but toward their fallen captain.

Together, they hauled his heavy body onto their shoulders.

Mantblast coughed, blood dripping down his chin. His ruined face twisted into a grin. "Don't think this… is the end, little slime…" His voice was hoarse but firm. He tilted his head toward Allen, his single good eye gleaming. "You've given me something I haven't felt in years… a fight worth bleeding for."

Allen, barely conscious, twitched in Tauren's arms.

Mantblast's grin widened, even as pain wracked his body. "Recover well, slime. When you'll arrive to us… we'll finish this properly."

With that, the Krukins dragged him backward, disappearing into the swirling portal. His laughter, rough and broken, echoed one last time before the gateway snapped shut behind them.

The cavern fell silent. For the first time since the battle began, the defenders of Therya realized the first portal disappeared, now they just needed to hope the others will be alright.

Tauren let out a heavy breath and looked at Vane, who was panting in his beast form. "Let's move, Allen needs some rest."

They pushed forward, bloodied but alive, carrying their weakened friend into the shadows of the tunnels.

"By the way... what the hell was that spell?!" Vane shouted, amazed, now that they found a safe place to rest.

"It's his secret spell," Tauren explained. "Allen sacrifices parts of his body, turning them into acid bombs. But the parts are gone for good. He'll need at least seven days to rebuild himself."

With the guards pushing the krukins into the closing portal, victory was theirs. The cave echoed with the screams of triumph.
