Chapter 13 - Chapter two:Who's cooler

The system activated, and a holographic screen lit up, projecting their data.

Felix

Role: Mage (Wielder of energy and digital sorcery)

Skills: energy bursts, barrier projection, spatial manipulation

Current FB Level: 312

Felix narrowed his eyes at the projection.

"Magic without discipline is just destruction… I need more control," he muttered.

The training module launched. The world around him dissolved into a vast dark chamber, where rivers of white energy flowed freely, bending reality itself.

"Objective: Stabilize three energy cores. Failure will destabilize the simulation."

Felix extended his hands, channeling the raw current. The first core bent to his will, shielded by his barrier. The second trembled violently, threatening to collapse.

"Calm… breathe with the flow."

He steadied his focus, wrapping the unstable current in layered shields until the vibrations stilled. The third exploded with light, releasing a devastating surge. Felix clenched his fists, conjuring a radiant dome that absorbed the shockwave.

"Mission complete. Control level: 81%."

Felix's jaw tightened.

"Not enough. I'll do better next time."

Kayav

Role: Support (Tactical Healer)

Skills: restoration, protective barriers, ally enhancement

Current FB Level: 276

Kayav's screen flickered, showing a virtual battlefield with allied soldiers under fire. Their life meters dropped rapidly.

He adjusted his gloves calmly.

"So… my job is to keep them standing. Let's see if I can."

"Objective: Sustain ally survival until the end of the simulation."

The first soldier collapsed with chest wounds—Kayav's hand swept through the air, summoning a healing seal that pulsed with emerald light. Another ally was pinned under heavy fire—Kayav snapped his fingers, raising a translucent barrier that shimmered against the barrage.

The system escalated the challenge: area-wide explosions, crossfire traps, overwhelming waves of damage. Kayav's mind raced, prioritizing targets, deciding in seconds who to heal, when to shield, and when to conserve his dwindling energy.

"Simulation complete. Support efficiency: 94%."

Kayav exhaled softly, a faint smile on his lips.

"Victory isn't about glory. It's about making sure the others can fight another day."

Jayar

Role: Assassin (Shadow killer)

Skills: critical strikes, speed, instant elimination

Current FB Level: 305

Jayar cracked his neck, smirking at his profile.

"Alright. Who dies first?"

The simulation generated a cybernetic labyrinth. Drones and guards patrolled the metallic corridors, their sensors glowing red.

"Objective: Eliminate all targets without triggering alarms."

Jayar vanished into the shadows. His movements were razor-precise, soundless. The first guard's throat was cut in silence, his body lowered gently to the ground. A drone hovered overhead, scanning. Jayar slipped behind it, drove his blade into its core, and killed the machine before it could blink.

He danced through the maze, one shadow among many, each strike exact, each kill final.

At the last corridor, a heavily armored sentinel stood guard. Jayar launched a dagger with lethal precision. The weapon pierced the weak point between its plating, shutting it down instantly.

"Simulation complete. Detection rate: 0%. All targets eliminated."

Jayar grinned, brushing his fingers across his jaw.

"Too easy."

The three continued their training, each honing their specialized skills. They didn't know what lay ahead, but one thing was certain—when the time came, they would be ready for the battle that would decide everything.

The simulations faded, leaving only the glow of holographic light.

Felix clenched his fists, still feeling the hum of energy in his veins. Kayav stood calm, his presence steady and collected. Jayar leaned against the wall with casual ease, though his eyes gleamed like a predator's.

They were different—mage, support, and assassin. Yet together, they were shaping into something far greater.

"This is only the beginning," Felix said quietly.

"As long as we keep moving forward," Kayav replied.

Jayar smirked, cracking his knuckles. "Heh. Then let's make it fun."

Beyond the walls of the training hall, the neon-lit city pulsed and whispered, promising battles far more dangerous than any simulation.

The simulation hall went dark, but the tension between them lingered. Jayar was the first to break the silence.

"Alright," he smirked, twirling his blade, "how about we find out who's actually the best here?"

Felix narrowed his eyes.

"You seriously want me, a mage, to duel an assassin in a closed space?"

"Oh, don't whine," Jayar laughed. "I'll even give you a head start."

Kayav sighed, adjusting the glowing support seals on his wrist.

"I know you two… In a minute, half this system will be wrecked. But fine—if you're doing this, I'm in."

"Perfect," Felix raised his hands, sparks dancing between his fingers. "Just don't complain later."

Jayar moved first—a blur of shadow rushing straight for Felix. His blade scraped against a barrier of light, and the impact flung him backward.

"Not bad!" he shouted, vanishing again and reappearing behind Felix.

"I told you, don't get close," the mage muttered, releasing a surge of energy into the ground. A flash of lightning blinded them all for a heartbeat.

Kayav instantly raised a barrier, absorbing most of the shockwave.

"You're insane! In a real fight, you'd both be dead already. And no, Felix, you didn't tell us that!"

He cast a healing glyph beneath his feet, stabilizing himself.

"Oh, so you're patching yourself up too?" Jayar lunged at him, only to be shoved back by Kayav's shield.

"Support can hit as well," Kayav said flatly.

Felix floated upward, surrounded by a sphere of crackling energy.

"Fine. If you want to keep going—then take this!"

Bolts of lightning rained down, striking the floor between them. Jayar darted through the chaos, his form dissolving into shadows, and in an instant was at Felix's side, blade aimed for the mage's chest.

But Kayav was faster—he threw up a shield, stopping the strike inches from Felix.

"Really?" Kayav groaned. "You two are a nightmare for balance."

Felix grinned, sweeping his hand outward—an energy wave blasted both of them to the opposite ends of the arena.

Jayar stood up, brushing off dust.

"Okay, now I'm definitely killing you first, mage."

"Try me," Felix shot back with a smirk.

Suddenly, the system blared a warning.

"Damage threshold exceeded. Training module shutting down."

The illusions collapsed, leaving the three of them in a dim metal chamber.

"See?" Kayav muttered, dropping his hands. "I told you we'd break it."

Felix chuckled.

"Worth it."

Jayar laughed, sheathing his blade.

"right. Next time—no restrictions."

They looked at each other, and almost at the same moment, burst into laughter.
