No—that's not right!
He's a demon!
For Sis to be acting that strangely is way off. He must have used some weird trick to bewitch her!
I, Yukinoshita Yukino, will find a way to dissolve the contract, free my sister, and bring her back to who she used to be.
With that thought, Yukino's eyes regained their resolve, and she kept listening.
However—
By the end, the only useful bit was Sis saying "Maki-kun" at the very start; the rest was just her strange sounds. For someone inexperienced like Yukino, the shame practically made steam shoot out of her head.
Most ridiculous of all: only after more than an hour did things quiet down, and the two seemed to leave the room together.
Yukino hurried out from under the bed and slipped back to her own room. Burying her face in the pillow, she let out a mortified groan.
"Ugh… I can't face anyone now. What did that demon make me listen to? Shameless! Pervert!"
Her first attempt to probe the demon's identity: a total failure. What can you find with only a single "Maki-kun"? Looks like she'll have to face him head-on and corner him.
While Yukino lay there, cursing someone in embarrassment, Hayashi Maki and Haruno sat on the sofa outside, enjoying a rare calm. The fair-skinned, beautiful eldest daughter leaned lazily in his arms, an alluring look on her face.
Only now did Hayashi Maki fully grasp Haruno's charm. Compared to the second heiress, the elder sister's figure and refined features were irresistible to any man. And Hayashi Maki wasn't just a demon; he was also a perfectly normal man.
Haruno was already his follower. From now on, her life would exist as his follower's; unless she died, the contract could not be undone.
Given that, Hayashi Maki didn't hesitate. After class, he dropped Mahiru and Katō Megumi at Saionji Youko's convenience store for their shifts, then hurried to Haruno's side—leading to the present.
Though the second heiress hiding under the bed surprised him, it didn't stop him from making Haruno happy. Haruno, for her part, was thoroughly delighted.
She had already looked up the woman at Hayashi Maki's side: Shiina Mahiru, the Shiina family's overlooked daughter. Such a perfect "angel," and he'd won her too—this guy really had a way. Still, since he'd come to her, didn't that prove her pull was stronger?
After a while, Hayashi Maki and Haruno met each other's gaze, and both felt something warm inside, as if their feelings had reached one another.
It was the feeling of love.
Hayashi Maki stroked her damp hair and gently kissed her forehead. "Haruno-nee, that move is my signature. Really, you should be calling me oniichan."
Haruno shot him a playful glare and leaned in to give his neck a light bite. "Well then, Demon Lord Oniichan, you won't mind if I leave a bite mark, right? I wonder what your angel will think when she sees it?"
"Haruno-nee, how do you already know? Mahiru and I have been keeping things quiet."
"I was just teasing. You're the one who admitted it. So it really is the Shiina family's daughter. Poor girl, in a way… You'd better treat her well."
Gently stroking Haruno's hair and savoring her beauty, Hayashi Maki asked, "You don't mind? Me being this fickle—"
Haruno cut him off with a quick kiss and a soft smile. "Saying I don't mind would be a lie. But I'm the Yukinoshita heir. There's a saying: 'A wise person adapts to the times.' I've already given myself to you and I know I don't have the strength to 'handle' you—so I'll accept it. Besides, I said as long as you could restore Yukino's health, I'd do anything."
Seeing the resolve in her eyes, Hayashi Maki's mouth quirked. "Since you say so, I won't be shy."
Haruno shyly closed her eyes. "I never told you to be shy…"
…
No one knows how much time passed. Hayashi Maki gently laid the drowsy Haruno on the bed and tucked her in.
As he stepped out, about to leave, a cold voice sounded behind him.
"Stop right there."
It was Yukinoshita Yukino.
Hayashi Maki smiled and turned to face her.
She froze for a second at his handsome face, then cooled again. "Tell me your name, demon."
"I'm Hayashi Maki. Funny enough, we're classmates, Yukino-chan."
"Save it. What will it take for you to let my sister go?"
Yukino looked disgusted, though her body trembled slightly—because he was walking toward her. Hayashi Maki took in her unlawfully cute face up close; his gaze flicked, teasingly, over her modest chest, the corner of his mouth lifting.
"Don't you think your question is absurd, Yukino-chan? I already have someone as wonderful as Haruno-nee—why would I 'let her go'?"
"For that matter, tell me what I have to give for you to relent. If you won't tell me, I'll find out myself. If a demon like you exists, then angels must too—"
He grabs and lifts her, throws her onto the bed in her room, and pins her.
"W-what are you doing?"
"What am I doing? Teaching an ungrateful woman a lesson."
"You—"
"When you were bedridden, did that 'angel' you wanted to find save you?"
"… "
"It was this demon who saved you. And now you want to break the deal, take away what I fought to obtain, and find an angel to destroy me? Yukinoshita Yukino—how are you worse than a demon?"
Yukino flushed scarlet, a stab of guilt rising despite herself. She lowered her head, unable to meet his eyes. "But… how do I know you didn't use some strange trick to make Sis like that? I don't want her to lose herself because of me. Please—let her go free."
She seemed to steel herself, took his hand, and placed it on her leg. "If you'll free my sister, I'll be yours."
"Bottom line, I was the one who should have paid the price in the first place—"
He suddenly forces a kiss, cutting her off.
