Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Demon's Way of Thinking

Holding the adorable Yukinoshita's Second Heiress on the bench beside the vending machine, Hayashi Maki was in an excellent mood.

Her body was soft, with a subtly alluring fragrance—slightly different from Mahiru's. Maybe because she was still resisting, her body stayed tense. Unlike Mahiru, she didn't trust him yet, so if you compared them head-to-head, Mahiru's softness still won over the Second Heiress right now.

Yukinoshita Yukino struggled twice, then stopped—realizing she couldn't break free and afraid someone might pass by and see them like this. Not wanting to die of embarrassment, she let him hold her and looked up at him, a bit aggrieved.

"What do you want, exactly? Why do you bully me every time we meet?"

"Ahem… probably because I'm a bad guy?"

"Come on, Yukino-chan—you know I'm a thick-skinned demon. Whatever I do is reasonable, right? Demons don't have to follow human rules."

At that, Yukino felt he was far too dangerous. Someone who ignored human rules would harm society sooner or later—if not stopped. Not that she cared that much about society… she just wished he wouldn't bully her.

As she fumed, warm breath brushed her ear.

"Don't be scared. I'll just hold you. Just for one lunch break. If you won't let me kiss you, at least let me hug you."

Yukino let out a sharp little laugh through her nose. If she could, she wouldn't even let him hug her. But what could she do? He was a shameless, thick-skinned demon—the type she was worst at handling. Words didn't faze him; force wouldn't work either—she doubted her aikido could beat a demon.

So she had to accept it? The thought stung.

"Alright, don't overthink it. I really am just hugging you. You looked so lonely—I can't stand seeing a cute girl upset, so I came to comfort you."

"Hmph. First of all, I'm not lonely or upset. Secondly… I'd rather not have this kind of 'comfort'! And lastly… let me go, okay? If we're seen, it'll be bad. Aren't you close with Shiina? If she finds out, she'll definitely dislike you."

She tried to redirect him—shift the target to Mahiru. It wasn't fair to Mahiru, but if she wanted out of his arms, it was all she had.

"You're right—if we're seen and it causes you trouble, that would be bad," Maki said. "But I'm still going to hold you."

Yukino almost collapsed. "Why? Why me of all people?" Couldn't he bully someone else?

"Because when I treated you," he said solemnly, "I lost my first kiss. So now I'm attached to you."

"Rubbish! My first kiss is what was lost!"

She was speechless—how could someone be this shameless?

"Heh. Exactly. Since your first kiss is already mine, how about giving me your other firsts, too?"

His gentle tone made a tingling numbness spread through her. Was he… whining? And why were all those "firsts" about her?

"If you won't answer, I'll take that as consent. From today on, Yukino-chan owes me one hug and one kiss every day."

"I never agreed! Jerk—let me go! I hate you!"

Finally losing her temper, Yukino pummeled his chest with her little fists. Even as she vented, he didn't loosen his hold; he just watched her with a heated gaze. Blushing, she dropped her eyes; winded, she sagged against him, as if all strength had left her.

"I hate you… I said I hate you. Why won't you let go? How far are you going to bully me?"

Maki pinched her delicate chin and, without ceremony, stole the Second Heiress's cherry lips.

"If I could, I'd bully you for a lifetime."

"Mm—mm! Jerk… don't touch… I hate it…" She panicked even more. "Didn't you say just hugging… you liar… you don't keep your word…"

Faced with her grievance, Maki used the same trick he used on Mahiru: whatever she said, he just kept kissing her, sealing away every complaint with his lips.

He knew he was being awful—super awful. But he was a demon, and she knew it. Even if he showed a gentle side, she wouldn't believe it—so he might as well lean into the villain.

He liked kissing her, liked holding her. He wanted her. If he could convey that desire to her, it would mean more than any "gentleness."

Only once they were entangled would he become the most special man in her heart. Once she got used to him, feelings would deepen; when the ice melted, that would be the day the Second Heiress showed him her warmth.

Yukino didn't know what was happening to her. She felt so wronged—being held so forcefully, being "bullied" like this. She hated it. And yet… her body went soft. Shamefully, her arms crept around his neck, as if encouraging him.

No one knew how long it lasted. Dizzy, she finally broke free of his forceful kiss—apparently he was satisfied at last. Breathing hard, cheeks aflame, the unfairly cute Second Heiress now had eyes brimming with softness.

Seeing her like this, Maki let out a wicked grin. "Looks like you don't hate me that much, Yukino."

She ducked her head and said nothing. Her mind was a mess.

"It's almost time for class, Yukino-chan. Give me your number."

"No." She turned her face away, radiating disdain.

"Alright then—I'll come by Class J every day to find you."

"F-fine! I'll give it to you—just don't come looking for me. You're… you're not allowed!"

Flustered and angry, she yanked out her phone without looking at him and shoved it into his hand. Maki opened the contacts, added his number, and saved it as 'Demon Lord.' Then he handed the phone back.

Silence fell. Feeling awkward, Yukino nudged him. "Satisfied now? You've bullied me plenty. If we're seen… I'll be in trouble."

Her voice had gone soft—nothing like the fierce tone from before. Maki's heart melted. "Let me hold you a little longer. I can't bear to let go."

"Pervert!"

She shot him a furious look—but could only shut her eyes helplessly. She tried not to think. She'd never been this close to a man. Amid the chaos in her heart, a strange new feeling surfaced.

Maki, smiling roguishly, stroked her silky hair. Since she was being so obedient, how could he not enjoy it?

"Am I very bad, Yukino-chan?" he teased, blowing a breath by her ear.

She snorted and ignored him. She'd figured it out—the more she engaged, the more he teased.

"Okay, okay. I know I'm bad," he said. "But I can't help wanting to be close to you."

"Pervert… you're a huge pervert!"

"Mm—mm!" she squeaked as he kissed her again, pummeling his chest with her tiny fists. Gradually, her head went fuzzy—and her arms slid around his neck once more.

Girls are emotional creatures. As awful as he was—and as much as he bullied her—this closeness also let her feel his affection. Without realizing it, she responded.

How does the saying go? If you can't resist, enjoy it.

Yukino had no way to deal with him. Only when it was nearly time for class did Maki reluctantly release her. He patted her head and gently wiped her slightly swollen lips. "That's enough for today. Call me if anything comes up. I may be bad, but I'm a demon who takes responsibility. Yukino-chan, I'll be responsible for you to the end."

Face crimson, Yukino turned away without a word. It was all the protest she could manage. Still, compared to last time, she was much calmer; those big dewy eyes didn't look on the verge of tears.

"Well then—thanks for the hospitality. See you." He gave her black over-knee-socked calf a quick squeeze and turned away.

Yukino checked both ways; seeing no one, she finally let out a breath. She smoothed the skirt and blouse he'd rumpled and dashed back to class.

For the first time ever, the honor-student Yukinoshita's Second Heiress spaced out during a lesson.
