Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: Angel Descends to the Human World

Seeing the contact name "Demon Lord" on her phone made Yukinoshita Yukino furious.

It dragged her right back to the humiliation at noon—being grabbed and kissed by that jerk in broad daylight.

Her sister wasn't home tonight—off handling family business, supposedly attending some banquet—so Yukino had thought she'd finally get a quiet evening.

No such luck. The moment Hayashi Maki got her number, the creep couldn't wait till night to start pestering her.

She glanced at the screen and chose to ignore him—pretend she was asleep and hadn't seen the message.

But a minute later her phone buzzed again, several times, making it impossible to focus on her study notes.

Annoyed, Yukino snatched up the phone and unlocked it. One look at the contents and her face changed—panic.

It was him again.

Demon Lord: "Yukino-chan, ignoring my message on purpose, huh?"

Demon Lord: "Nice. I like a girl with personality."

Demon Lord: "Since you won't answer, I'll come over and chat in person."

He was coming here? He'd bully her to death!

Cheeks burning, Yukino abandoned her review and typed in a rush:

Yukino: "I was in the bath and didn't see. Don't come over—if you have something to say, text it."

After she hit send, she felt guilty. She hardly ever lied, but with Hayashi Maki she'd already gone against herself several times. She didn't feel like herself anymore.

Demon Lord: "Oh, a bath? Send a cute pic or I don't believe you."

Yukino: "I'm calling the police—this is sexual harassment!"

Demon Lord: "Haha, I'm kidding. Don't get so worked up."

Yukino: "What do you want? I'm busy. Say it and be done."

(And get lost—she added silently.)

Demon Lord: "Nothing. Just wanted to harass you a bit."

Yukino: "…"

She tossed the phone on the bed, cheeks puffed with anger. What kind of person says he's harassing you on purpose?

The phone buzzed again. She was mad and didn't want to look—but the thought of the consequences if she didn't made her pick it back up.

Her face flushed scarlet.

Demon Lord: "Yukino-chan, can I kiss you tomorrow?"

Yukino: "No."

Demon Lord: "No kiss—then a hug at least?"

Yukino: "No hugging!"

Demon Lord: "Alright. If I can't kiss or hug you tomorrow, I'll come over now."

Yukino froze. Huh? He was coming now to bully her?

Yukino: "Don't come… Why do you have to bully me? What did I ever do to you?"

Demon Lord: "You're too cute. And the fact we were both launched by the same car means we're fated, right? You were the unlucky one who got paralyzed—but lucky enough to meet me. Doesn't that make us a perfect pair?"

Yukino: "Tch! You used that as your excuse to get my sister, and you dare say that to me? Scum. Bastard. Pervert. I hate you most!"

Demon Lord: "Oof, that stings, Yukino."

Yukino: "Then go to sleep and stop bothering me."

Demon Lord: "Now I feel bad. I'm coming over. Wait for me."

Yukino: "Don't—you better not come!"

Demon Lord: "Then say something nice, and I'll do as you say."

Yukino: "…"

Say what? Praise him? She hated him—she couldn't lie to herself. The fact she wasn't roasting him already was mercy. And he wanted compliments? Dream on.

Demon Lord: "Don't know what to say? I'll teach you. Just say: 'I like you, I like you best, I'll be yours for life.' That'll make me happy."

By now Yukino's cheeks were red to her ears. How could he send something like that? The whole thing reeked of possessiveness.

Yukino: "I won't say it. If you dare come, I'm calling the police!"

After sending that, she tensed and glanced around the room—worried he'd suddenly appear out of some corner and start hugging and kissing her again…

But ten minutes passed with no sign of him, and no more messages. Yukino felt… deflated. That jerk had made her that nervous on purpose? He'd never planned to come at all.

She steadied herself and was about to get back to studying when the phone buzzed again.

Demon Lord: "Be a good girl and wait for me at the school gate tomorrow. Whether I kiss you—well, we'll see."

"Ugh!" Yukino, red-faced and fuming, flung the phone onto the bed. What does he even want? Is he never going to leave me alone? Infuriating! He already had her sister—wasn't that enough?

Hand on her racing heart, Yukino found she had no mood to study. Another sleepless night.

Back to Hayashi Maki: after teasing the Second Miss via text, he felt cheerful. If he didn't still need to take care of Mahiru, he really would have gone to pester Yukino in person.

This sort of thing is addictive—especially the mix of humiliation and helpless acquiescence on her face. It only made him more excited. And he was pretty sure she didn't hate him that much—otherwise, why respond to his kisses?

"Maki-kun, dinner's ready."

Mahiru's voice came from the kitchen. Maki walked over at once. "Coming!"

After savoring the angel's cooking, it was time for some joyful "exercise." With a soft yelp, Mahiru found herself scooped up around the waist and carried toward the bedroom.

Blushing, she shot him a half-scolding look—then closed her eyes shyly. So obedient and unguarded that he couldn't help himself.

He quickly lowered his head and kissed her soft red lips.

The rest needs no narration—consider a few thousand words omitted…

While Hayashi Maki and Mahiru were "interacting," on the other side—mysterious and far away—the Gate of Heaven creaked open for the first time in a hundred years.

Through the portal stepped two fair, beautiful girls. One had long golden hair, a petite and adorable build, and a faint glow about her.

A white pair of wings rose from her back, a halo perched above her head—at a glance she could be mistaken for Shiina Mahiru, they looked so alike.

The other angel was a silver-haired beauty whose figure outclassed her golden companion's. Narrowing her eyes with delight, the silver-haired girl hugged the blonde's arm.

"Gab-chan, we finally get to descend and do our Human World Trial. Heehee—I wonder what a human school is like?"

At her words, the golden-haired angel showed a flawless sweet smile. "Raphi, no matter what the human world is like, we must remember our mission—shine love upon people and safeguard the peace."

"Yes, yes. You can handle the peacekeeping—I believe the Trumpet of Judgment is with you, right? Also, I hear Hell is sending demons down for trials this time too. Getting more interesting."

Chatting, the two angels descended. The blonde's name was Gabriel, top graduate of the Angel Academy. And her new residence in the human world, as luck would have it, was right upstairs from Hayashi Maki's apartment.
