The sounds of heavy breathing by my door snapped me out of the thoughts in my head. My head sprung up as I glanced away from my laptop, thinking I'd heard wrong, but the sound didn't stop; if anything, it seemed to intensify with each passing second and I slowly rose from my chair, grabbed a baton and tiptoed to the door with the intention of striking whoever it was first before they got to me.
However, as soon as I slowly pushed the door open, I froze with my baton hanging midair when I saw who the intruder was…
"Jay?" I whispered incredulously, my eyes widening when I took in his disheveled state.
After returning from the hospital earlier, I'd been in such a bad mood. I'd been distressed as well and disheveled, and to make myself feel better, I'd buried myself in work. But now, looking at Jay, I could boldly say that my earlier mood was nothing compared to his current state.
