Although the small bear was little, it was quite heavy. The male wolves drooled as they dragged it, stimulated by the appealing stench on the bear fur, which was the aroma of food.
Simon kept looking back, always uneasy, because he respected all animals, treating them as true adversaries. Bears are cruel and intelligent animals, and he couldn't guarantee that a large bear wouldn't suddenly charge out from behind them.
However, the sea wind was still strong, and the Wolf Pack's scent quickly dissipated. Moreover, they were downwind, so the possibility of being chased by the small bear's mother was low.
When the Wolf Pack returned to its territory, no unexpected events occurred. Simon finally breathed a sigh of relief and stopped urging the Wolf Pack forward; they began to feast.
Simon could still only consume wolf milk. He had no particular emotions about this.
Many moral and ethical issues are advanced emotions, and survival often doesn't allow for impurities. In fact, Lu had seen many storms and could calmly accept many things that defied common sense, just like a flowing river can make different choices in different circumstances.
Simon always ignored delving into too many philosophical questions and never doubted his path.
He took the opportunity to organize and update his quest log.
Quest: Healthy Growth
Quest One (Completed): Attempt to hunt.
Quest Two (Uncompleted): Find a stable food source.
For a healthy human, there are many ways to obtain food in the wild. Simon's first thought was fishing. The Sea of Ghosts is vast and boundless, rich in fish resources. Whenever he thought of fish, Simon would recall all sorts of fish dishes, and not just the images, but also the simple joy of eating fish.
Simon missed the taste of cooked food.
Fishing is not difficult for humans, but for animals, it is a complex logical behavior.
Simon doubted the intelligence level of the Icefield Wolves, wondering if they could understand what fishing was. Perhaps they would slack off due to the preparation for fishing being too boring and meaningless. However, there are always more solutions than problems; one must try to get results.
While observing the coast, Simon also caught glimpses of the beach through cracks in the cliff. Large amounts of seawater had collected, forming small puddles, some directly connected to the sea, perhaps bringing in many shallow-water fish during high tide.
Directly fishing in the sea was not feasible; the water was too cold and would quickly drain body heat. Thanks to their thick fur and subcutaneous fat, Icefield Wolves were not afraid of the cold wind, but if they were to soak in icy water, they would surely die one by one.
It was even less possible for Simon to go into the water.
He was well aware of his own limitations.
Humans and wolves each ate their fill.
The Wolf Pack decided to rest, finding a sheltered pit. They huddled together, warm and cozy.
Simon began to meditate.
After falling into samadhi, not only could he find physical and mental comfort, but his energy consumption would also decrease, which was very beneficial for Simon's survival.
Because the beast transformation disease was rooted in his bloodline, a brutal, bloodthirsty desire festered in Simon's heart. This led to an unnatural mental excitement. Although he could control it and remain rational, a wild, unextinguished fire always seemed to burn in his chest.
Emotional fluctuations can affect one's personality. Simon's personality was relatively stable, so he wasn't greatly affected by emotions. However, he feared subtle changes, so Simon decided to reflect thoroughly and construct a suitable logical thinking system to always free himself from the influence of excitement.
Humans must always contend with themselves; for Simon, it was commonplace.
Thoughts also have power. Simon could feel the spirit of the troll in his subconscious being tamed little by little.
Those afflicted with the beast transformation disease enter Hircine's hunting grounds after death. That is his domain, and as a Daedric Prince, his domain is his very being. So, in fact, every beast transformation patient, after death, merges with Hircine, becoming a part of him.
Simon found this setting quite interesting when he first saw it, and he still felt that way now.
He was actually concerned about the background of the elder scrolls in his memory; many things were not as he had heard. He would only know the truth by seeing it for himself.
Simon slowly fell into deeper meditation, but wolf howls interrupted his meditation. He opened his eyes and found that the energetic Icefield Wolves were frolicking.
They were all grown wolves, so why were they still so childish?
After this meditation, the beast transformation disease had a more profound effect on Simon's body. White hair was a given, it had grown again. In addition, his eyesight had greatly improved, and the world became clearer in his eyes. There were also his fingernails, which became more yellow and lustrous, close to amber, looking like translucent beeswax. This color made one quite hungry.
Looking up at the sky, it was almost evening. The clouds were still sparse, but the wind was getting stronger, and it might turn cloudy at night.
The Wolf Pack also hunted at night. Simon mounted a male wolf, gripping its fur, and planned to go to the seaside again.
At this moment, a white moon had already risen in the sky. This moon should be called Secunda, and its apparent radius in the sky was much smaller than the red Masser.
It is said that a race called Khajiit has members whose forms are entirely determined by the moon phases, totaling more than twenty different types.
When Simon saw the huge moons in Skyrim, he didn't feel the melancholy of a classical poem because these moons were truly different from Earth's moon. They were so enormous at a glance that they felt unreal to him.
It is said that both moons are the remains of a god.
Judging by the size of the two moons, this god was dismembered quite unevenly…
After a few more hours, returning to the morning's hunting ground, Simon lay on the edge of the cliff and looked down, seeing no trace of the bear.
He tried to sniff, and the bear's scent was very faint.
Could there really be no mother bear? But if there was no mother bear, how could that small bear have slept so peacefully?
There were always many strange things. Simon returned to the wolf's back and directed the Wolf Pack to go around the cliff.
There were protruding broken cliffs everywhere, and huge ice fissures, like man-eating abysses. Especially after the sun set and the light dimmed, the world's shapes and contours blurred in the faint darkness, making these natural traps very inconspicuous.
The Wolf Pack walked cautiously. The beast transformation disease gave Simon some night vision, and he carefully surveyed the path ahead, constantly directing them to detour.
After walking for a long time, he heard the faint sound of waves beneath their feet. They had already stepped onto a thick ice sheet, with seawater flowing through the cracks, constantly eroding out pits and channels.
Finally, the Wolf Pack descended a windy slope. This path led directly to the wide coast, with high ice layers on both sides, like mountain walls. Halfway down, a low roar came from ahead.
Two three-tusk Walrus ran out of a crack in the ice layer.
They were truly giants in the wind.
Their thick gray skin was covered in frost, and fat accumulated in thick wrinkles. Three curved tusks extended in a trident shape from their mouths; presumably, the middle one was an incisor.
They were aggressive, but their movements were truly slow. After being startled, the Wolf Pack playfully began to hunt these two Walrus.
The only thing to worry about was their long tusks, like spearheads, which could easily pierce skin and muscle.
Before long, they were covered in wounds, bleeding profusely, and weakened. Even without further attack, the cruel cold wind would claim their lives.
Two young Walrus, not too big and not too small, were excellent prey.
Simon went around into the wide crack in the ice wall, which was where the Walrus had just been, and found a pool of blood on the ground.
