Adeline was in her room, and the documents she was still studying were lying on her bed, scattered everywhere. She was biting her nails anxiously as she paced around the room, unsure of what to do.
She'd tried studying but that didn't work out. Her mind still ended up thinking about Darien and if he was fine.
When they exchanged eye contact, he didn't look enraged, and he also didn't look calm about the situation. In fact, she couldn't understand what his expression meant.
It was noon, and there was so much to read, but he'd occupied her thoughts.
What if he'd contacted her grandfather and asked for heavy compensation for the injury caused?
They were wealthy, but her grandfather would ask questions. Talk more about the business idea she needed to pitch to him for a partnership—after what she'd done the previous night, she doubts he'd be willing to partner anymore.
Adeline pulled her wavy hair in frustration.
She needed to do something.
She picked up her phone to check the time.
12:02pm
She'd done completely nothing the entire day, and time was slipping through her fingers.
Daniela mentioned going back to check up on him but she wasn't picking up her phone.
She tried once again, but it went directly into voicemail.
'She must be busy,' she thought.
After another hour of contemplating, Adeline slipped into a white summer dress, styled her hair, and grabbed her bag.
She would wilt away if she didn't see him and apologize at least. Her divorce from Theodore still depended on Darien's decision. And her grandfather had given her two months to work for it.
Adeline stopped at a flower shop and decided to get him flowers.
'Men deserve flowers once or twice in their life,' she thought with a smile on her lips.

Inside the hospital, Darien was on a phone call.
"The invite was late. It's obvious they weren't intending on inviting you in the first place," Darien's assistant said over the phone. "I don't think there's any need for you to go, sir."
Darien's green eyes darkened.
The Solvaena group of companies was throwing an anniversary celebration. The heir to that company used to be a friend of his late father, but after Darien took over the company, they'd completely cut off all contact with him.
Except, they still spoke with his uncle. It was obvious they were partners in crime.
Inviting him late simply meant they didn't plan on inviting him at all, just for the invitation's sake.
"I'm not going," he said. "Come up with an excuse and cancel the invitation."
After the confirmation from his assistant, he hung up the phone.
He kept the device away and decided to focus on his laptop. The screen displayed a building construction that was close to finishing.
The design of the building would begin soon and they needed materials.
Darien suddenly heard the door open but he didn't bother checking who it could be.
"Do you need anything else, Tatiana?" He questioned without tearing his gaze from his laptop.
"You just got a head injury and you're already working?" Adeline questioned, a deep scowl on her face.
Darien faced the entrance where Adeline was, his throat tight.
She was wearing a white summer dress that flowed down to her ankles. Her skin was pale with her face slightly red. Her wavy hair was styled in a ponytail while the rest curled up to frame her face.
She looked stunning.
Looking at her made him forget she was the reason he was in this condition in the first place.
"Should you be working?" She asked, concern evident in her tone as she looked at him with narrowed eyes.
He stared at her then at the laptop.
As the CEO of a business empire, he didn't have any days off since his enemies were always running around, waiting for the day he would slip up.
Adeline came forward, and he caught a whiff of her strawberry-scented cologne.
"You're a billionaire. Shouldn't you be resting?" She questioned again when he didn't respond to her.
Thinking he was still angry about what had happened last night, she brought the flowers.
"I came to apologize for hitting you on the head with a bottle of beer. I didn't recognize you and thought you were one of those men who always insisted," she spoke as fast as she could.
This was her first time seeing Darien Hawthorne clearly, and there was one thing she crawled up her back.
Fear.
No man had intimidated her more than her grandfather. Not even Theodore. But Darien's silence gnawed at her skin.
Meanwhile, the entire time, Darien's heart was already starting to skip several beats after another.
His skin was starting to irritate him and breathing was already starting to feel difficult.
Blood was already starting to rush to his face.
Adeline noticed it and quickly asked. "Do you need me to call the doctor?"
He shook his head.
"Thanks for the flowers. I love daisies," he said, reaching for the flowers and Adeline handed them over to him with a perplexed look.
'Why is he as red as tomatoes?' She wondered with a frown on her face.
She wanted to go further into apologizing, but he was too busy with the flowers.
She noticed how veins popped on his face as red spots started to appear on his face.
This time, she was really worried.
"Are you sure you don't need me to call the doctor?" She asked, but Darien was finding it hard to breathe this time and talk more.
He collapsed, dropping the flowers to the floor.
Without wasting any moment, she ran out to find a doctor or a nurse.
The doctor checked his pulse and his symptoms.
"He has an allergy attack," the doctor announced. He didn't need to say any other thing as the nurse quickly brought the medicines.
Then he faced Adeline who was standing in shock, holding the flowers that Darien had dropped after he collapsed.
"Did you not know he was allergic to daisy flowers?" He questioned.
