The morning air was cool and crisp, carrying the faint scent of blossoms and damp soil. Min followed closely behind Kei as they stepped into the bustling flower market. Stalls brimmed with vivid colors—rows of tulips, orchids, lilies, and wildflowers spreading like a painter's palette.
"Wow…" Min whispered, eyes wide. "It's like the whole world bloomed overnight."
Kei glanced at him briefly, lips twitching ever so slightly. "Don't get distracted. We need supplies."
Min puffed his cheeks. "I'm not distracted! …Much."
As they moved through the stalls, Min carefully carried a crate of potted plants, trying not to stumble on the uneven ground. Just then, a cheerful voice called out:
"Well, if it isn't Kei. And… someone new?"
A young man with tousled dark brown hair and bright amber eyes approached, hands tucked casually in his apron pockets. His stall was brimming with carefully arranged roses and rare orchids.
"Takumi," Kei said evenly, giving a polite nod.
Min blinked. So this was the famous rival florist Airi had once mentioned in passing.
Takumi's gaze flickered to Min, a teasing smile tugging at his lips. "And who's this? Your assistant? Or…" His eyes glinted. "…something more?"
Min nearly dropped the crate. "A-Assistant! I-I'm just helping out!"
Takumi chuckled. "Relax, I'm teasing. Though I must say, Kei, you've finally found someone who matches your shop's charm."
Kei's expression didn't change, but his eyes narrowed slightly. "We're here for supplies. Not chatter."
Unfazed, Takumi leaned against his stall. "Then let me recommend these orchids. Rare, delicate… they take a steady hand to care for. Think your assistant can manage them?"
Min bit his lip, determination sparking in his chest. He straightened and said, "I can handle it. Just watch."
Takumi raised a brow, clearly amused, but handed over the orchids. "We'll see."
As they walked away, Min's heart pounded. He had blurted that out without thinking, but Kei said nothing—just carried the crate with him. Still, Min thought he caught the faintest glimmer of approval in Kei's eyes.
Maybe… he wasn't as clumsy as he believed.
