Chapter 5 - FOUR.

Daniel, that psycho.

I will never forget him. Even if my mind betrays me one day, even if I lose every memory I've ever clung to, I know with certainty — I'll never forget the cruelty, the humiliation, the scars he carved into me. The bad things he did to me will remain etched in my soul like fire branded onto flesh.

And seeing him now, being hurled in like the animal he is by my guards, I couldn't help but smile. A dark, bitter smile.

This bastard. This fucking bastard. He took something from me — something far more valuable than money, far heavier than gold. He stole my dignity, my peace, my youth. And I will make sure he pays dearly for that.

"Let me go!!!" he screamed, thrashing like a cornered beast. His voice cracked with desperation, yet he dared to spit venom. "Do you know who I am? I'm the owner of this hospital! If you don't release me right now, I promise to make you miserable."

Oh, pity!

What a pitiful thing.

He's just a poor boy… clawing at a power that doesn't belong to him.

I tilted my head, feigning softness, though my voice was ice.

"What are you shouting for? Nobody's going to save you."

It was then his eyes — those ocean eyes, once so mesmerizing, now venomous — finally locked into mine. For the briefest of moments, I felt uneasy. Not because I feared him, but because of the ghosts that came flooding back. Ghosts of nights I cried into my pillow, of days I shrank under his shadow, of years wasted believing his lies.

So many reasons to be uneasy for.

"You… what are you doing here?" he asked, his voice carrying genuine surprise.

"Ask your mistress. She seems to have made Wu An angry," Fei-Fei said coolly beside me.

I shot her a look — sharp enough to silence, yet carrying unspoken gratitude. I didn't want her interference, but her loyalty warmed me.

"Me? Guess," I replied, lips curving into a faint smirk.

With a snap of my fingers, a chair was brought forth. I sat magnificently, not like a woman confronting an ex-lover, but like an empress conducting court. My every gesture deliberate, powerful, untouchable.

"What's with all this façade? You're seeking attention?" He snorted. His arrogance was still intact, shameless as ever. "I told you, I will never get back to you again. Just stop pursuing me."

"Me? Pursue?" I chuckled bitterly. "If your mistress hadn't provoked me, my secretary wouldn't have dug her up — and found something disturbing."

"Secretary? Are you some big shot now? Your new way of attention? Please, spare me that."

Wow.

This asshole really thinks he rules the world.

"Daniel Han, what makes you think that I will crawl back to you after ten years?" I asked, admiring my wristwatch as though it was the most dazzling jewel I had ever seen. His face, however, was dull, washed in disbelief.

He sneered. "People like you don't just give up. They never. They would go to any extent, even if it meant sleeping around!"

That word shattered something inside me.

Fei-Fei sensed it instantly. My body stiffened, my chest heavy, and yet my eyes blazed like steel.

"Mr. Han, I suggest you watch your words," she warned coldly.

"Watch my words? Who does she think she is? She's just a slut…"

"You—" Fei-Fei pointed at him, her irritation flaring, but I raised a hand, stopping her.

"Fei-Fei," I said softly, shaking my head. That was enough to silence her — for now.

Then I turned my gaze back to him. Not the gaze of the broken girl he once toyed with. Not the gaze of a woman seeking validation. No — this was the harsh, unflinching stare I had reserved for arrogant investors who thought they could trample me. The kind of look that made powerful men falter.

"I think you should be more worried about yourself than your little daydream," I said, my voice dripping with disdain.

"What…"

"Li Ming Fa, age 24. University none. Education — dropped out after bullying and comatosing a student."

For once, silence crushed the room. The girl at his side trembled, her body betraying fear.

"H-how did you know? That was long ago…" she stuttered.

"When my secretary warned you not to mess with me, what did you think? That it was an empty threat?" My words cut through the air like blades. "Your mistake today was your action. And I will make sure you pay dearly for it."

Daniel snorted, desperate to keep face. "So what? Does that make you wealthy?"

"I heard you love staying at the casino. You owe a huge debt — 20 million at least."

His eyes widened. "How… were you stalking me?"

I snorted, a sharp, dismissive sound.

"You should blame the bitch. If she had at least acted nice today, the owner of this hospital's secretary wouldn't have had to dig up such filthy dirt about the two of you. Funny, isn't it? I was unconscious, and the very first thing I was told upon waking… was the mishap my hospital faced. This is delusional." I shook my head, suppressing a laugh.

"You're the owner? How's that possible?"

His face twisted, yet he still tried to smile — that nasty, condescending smile I once knew too well.

"You stalker!" he yelled.

I smiled too — but mine was beautiful, calculated, dangerous. The kind of smile that once turned him on, but now terrified him.

"I've been far too busy to stalk you. But if you want proof…" I raised a brow as Fei-Fei handed me my phone. "Just one call. Your location exposed in less than a minute. Aren't you curious?"

"I would eat my shoes if that happens. You're just a beggar when I met you. Bullied and battered when I saw you. You…"

I didn't let him finish.

Crossing my legs, I accepted the phone from Fei-Fei. With one ring, the call connected.

"Yes, Ms. Wen," the voice on the other end greeted respectfully. And I saw it — the flicker of shock in Daniel's eyes, the way his arrogance faltered at the respect I commanded.

"One minute," I said flatly. "I'll give you one minute to find the bastard named Daniel Han. Not a second late. Otherwise, consequences follow." I hung up before he could respond.

Daniel opened his mouth to speak, but I raised my hand, silencing him.

"I suggest you save your breath. Let's wait for the minute to pass. Then… we can talk."

Right on cue, my ringtone pierced the silence.

On loudspeaker, the voice returned:

"I found that the man named Daniel Han is currently at Qingqing Hospital. But there's something else."

"Something else?" I asked.

"Yes. He claims to be the owner of the hospital. But the truth I uncovered is damning. His debts, his mistress Li Ming Fa — no education, dropped out for comatosing a student. More skeletons than I can list. I'm sending everything to Dai Fei now."

As he spoke, Fei-Fei confirmed, "Received."

"Good. I'll talk to you later," I said, and ended the call.

Turning to her, I asked, "The same, or new info?"

"I think there's more to this than we thought," she admitted.

"Gather all the evidence. Keep it ready for when I say the word."

She nodded firmly.

Daniel's composure was crumbling. His voice shook as he asked, "Who… who are you?"

I stood, my presence towering, unshakable.

"I'm Wen Qingqing. Founder of Wen Group."

I turned to leave, my heels clicking with finality, but his voice chased me.

"You're not… taking revenge, are you?"

"If I was taking revenge, your career would've ended long ago." I looked back once, my smile sharp. "This is coincidence. Blame your mistress."

Then, with a glance to the guards, I ordered:

"Before I return, I expect all thirty-two of his teeth gone. Otherwise…" I let my words trail, heavy with threat.

His pleas, his curses, his desperation — they were nothing but noise now. My mind was made up.

And with that, I walked out triumphantly, every step echoing like thunder in the hollow corridors of the ward.
