Chapter 22 - Divergence of Fate

"Sniff~, don't worry, Amy, everything will be fine now. Your big sister is here for you."

"Oh! Are you older? You don't look it at all."

"Don't worry, those are just minor details. The important thing is that I will really put my heart and soul into it. I won't let this continue like this, sniff~... I'll make them all pay!"

"Hmm? I don't understand what you mean? Why do you suddenly seem to be crying? Why are you hugging me? Are you okay?"

She was still in the bathtub with the mask on her face and seemed confused by my actions, crying and hugging her head, but I already knew exactly what I had to do.

"Yes, Amy, everything is fine. Your friend is here for you."

This makes me angry, really angry!

I don't know which part of me—maybe both—but there's something in me that's really upset right now. I definitely had to do something.

Thanks to Azalea, who expanded my common sense and knowledge, I was able to ask the system more questions while I was eating.

And although, as always, the system didn't answer all my questions, I was able to deduce many things on my own. To begin with, I understood that this world is very big, too big.

Although there are really only 10 nations, each one is huge. It's not exact yet, but I think that approximately each one in total territory is equal to or larger than the habitable territory in my world.

The world is so big that it has more than one sun surrounding it: five to be precise, of different sizes, but curiously all at a perfect distance for life to exist.

Not to mention the moons: from what I heard, there were 25, and everything coexists in perfect natural balance.

The point is that we arrived at an opportune moment, as we were in an era of relative peace.

Recently, approximately 150 years ago in this world, what is known as the 'Age of the Gods' had ended, a chaotic era that lasted for millennia.

Many civilizations arose, many fell, and it was a confusing time. For this reason, the true reason behind how it began is unknown.

But likewise, almost nothing is known about anything before it began; all records have been lost, and nothing is accurate or entirely clear.

Some say that this was a normal world that one day came into contact with a higher dimension where the gods lived, and those beings were the ones who brought mana and war.

Others say that this is blasphemy, and that the gods rose up among the beings of this world to defend it from other external invaders who also became gods, and so there were more hypotheses, none of which were really proven.

It was good that Azalea had a neutral view and told me several points of view, although at that moment her moans were driving me crazy and I almost lost focus many times.

Due to that confusing and chaotic era, the world was in a very bad state and led all beings to eventual extinction.

But one day, without explanation to all mortals, gods, and all beings at their level disappeared without warning, abruptly ending that era.

This caused the civilizations and races that still remained and were on the brink of extinction to rise again, uniting and building something solid to move forward.

Only 150 years had passed, but things stabilized, and thus the 10 nations of today exist.

And although the total territory of each nation is larger than what the land used to be and technically all the territory is theirs, what they actually control is not that much, as they are still in the process of recovering lands lost to beasts or other reasons.

So this world is full of places and phenomena that are not under anyone's control: dungeons, sacred sites, labyrinths, small dimensions, and other spaces created in ancient times.

Many of them were tests of the gods or great beings, used to recruit people or as personal vaults.

In addition, there are vestiges of fallen civilizations and ruined kingdoms, which are still being discovered today.

Leaving me aside, the inhabitants of this world themselves are in exploration mode.

Sometimes they discover dungeons that offer rewards capable of changing their destiny, or ruins of ancient kingdoms that still hold divine weapons and lost magical technology.

They also find scrolls of skill, crafting upgrades, and many other creations of the gods at the height of the past era.

And since the gods are gone and those things can no longer be created, everyone has turned to treasure hunting and constant preparation. After all, it was prophesied that the era of peace would only last another fifty to one hundred years.

It was an era of peace in which the kingdoms, rather than fighting each other, were focused on finding and reconquering their own lands and resources.

That is why the coalition of the 10 kingdoms was formed, where all were allies and there would be no wars regardless of how much they had hated each other during the Age of the Gods.

Because of that, I understood that being an elf or a human was not bad anywhere, but that still does not mean that there are no prejudices between races or between nations, and even if they do not go to war, they hate each other.

That's why I was a little worried about Amy's reaction when she saw me, but luckily the beastmen and the elves don't seem to have any problems.

Anyway, the world is huge, with a lot of possibilities.

Not to mention that there's a damn central continent the size of three or four kingdoms that's unexplored because of its high degree of danger.

Yeah every time I think about it I really want to go out, hmm but now the important thing is Amy her situation is really bad...hmm...

The point is that Amy, in this nation, is what she appears to be: the king's wife, a big shot. But, from what I heard, even though she comes from a powerful family, she as a person has no real power.

Which shouldn't have happened since she had a decent profession, and in this world, having a powerful profession with high potential meant having real power.

But it was a wizard-type profession, and she has never been good with her head—which is important for that kind of profession.

Her family abandoned her and gave her away as a simple tool to create connections; that is where the tragedy began for her.

She began to tell me her story, still with the theme that it was about her friend.

And, honestly, her situation is horrible, to say the least; it really hurt my heart as she talked about her past, with a face that looked more like a memory than a bad experience.

She doesn't really seem to understand how screwed up her own situation is. With what she just told me, I feel like going to her house, grabbing some of those bitches who harass her, and turning that bastard's harem upside down—and I don't intend to hold back.

She seems to love that guy with all her heart, but from what I heard from her, I realized that it's more than obvious—only she doesn't notice—that he doesn't seem to love her.

For a moment, I thought he was impotent or something for not touching this beauty for so many years, but apparently he still continues with the function of "making babies" with other lovers and wives.

In the end, I came to the conclusion that Amy is like a flower in a greenhouse and only knew what she was taught: her family only taught her that sex was only for creating offspring.

That's why she saw nothing wrong with not being touched, and yet she still loved him; she spent time with him when, from time to time, he didn't have the task of making babies with other concubines—or rather, when he didn't feel like it.

The king obviously didn't like Amy, and I specifically think it was because of her eyes; hence his complex. Even twenty years ago, when they were together, he made her wear blindfolds, and it continued that way until today: every time she went to sleep with him, she had to wear blindfolds, and she wasn't the only one sleeping next to him.

I think he only allowed her to be around to keep up appearances, since Amy's family had a strong influence—she was one of only five wives; the others were concubines.

Forget about her being 'dry', her damn husband calls her 'Pinky'. She thinks it's a term of endearment, but honestly, considering he has more than twenty wives, I think he calls her that because he forgot her name.

It may just be me, but that's how I feel. My female instincts tell me so.

On top of that, apparently her daughters are talented among that guy's dozen children, and many concubines and other wives don't seem to like that.

They secretly harass her; they treat her like a fool. Hence her initial complex that I noticed.

Recently, a specific group has been against her; they said many ugly things to her, and that led her to sneak out to clear her mind, casually bumping into my place.

But even with all that, she sees them as family and loves her husband fervently; that's why, even though I dislike the idea of having anything in common with those bitches, I have to say it: Amy is foolish.

But I'm not going to let that continue. Maybe I'm letting my emotions get the best of me, especially considering that I just met her, but I wasn't just saying it when I became her friend.

My sense of justice tells me to go there and fuck up some of those bitches who dared to harass my beautiful and innocent Amy.

She's in the middle of a political fight, full of vipers and snakes with hidden agendas and plans, with no way to defend herself.

Maybe she's still alive by some miracle because, well, she's harmless and from a prominent family.

But with her daughters becoming more and more noticeable, that might not stay that way; the increase in her harassment lately is proof of that.

I'm really worried about her, and her husband doesn't seem like he's going to do anything about it.

She may be almost forty, but she's like an innocent young girl, and I have to take care of this delicate flower who has no one to look after or protect her, and I curse her environment that made her this way for its own convenience.

No, it's not too late. I'll instill common sense in her, show her the truth, and turn her into a functional adult...hnmm System, if I use the doppelgänger artifact in my state, what will happen?

[A doppelgänger with the user's appearance at the time of creation will be created.]

What if I separate myself afterwards?

[As long as you have mana, the doppelgänger will continue to function, and since it was created with both of your mana signatures, both of you can control it.]

I understand.

I rethought and made modifications to my original plans, but I realised that the essence of it all would still be the same, with just a few, small changes.

Originally, there were two alternative endings, but that will change; now there is only one ending, and it is: her, Iris, and Astar happy.

I had also planned that putting the 'stigma' on her would be a matter of three or more sections; it was a long-term thing, but that will no longer be the case: today I will put the stigma of lethargy on her.

But the main change is the scale. This will remain what it is, but it will no longer be a simple affair with only four actors: it will be a great work in which an entire kingdom will be involved.

yes, they are just small changes, I'm going to make that man and his harem pay. No—I'm going to reform this whole damn kingdom; I don't know if it's possible, but—No! I will definitely make it possible!

"You want to play politics? Fine, let's play politics."

"Huh? Did you say something?"

"Nothing, more importantly Amy: you said that some other queens and concubines had their own masseuse, right? How about if...?"
