Baoya Mensen looked at Black Eel York and said, "See! I told you I'd handle the city gate and drawbridge, hahaha! Those native savages must be scared shitless now!"
York kept his eyes fixed on the city gate, not daring to relax for a moment. He had a nagging feeling that today's battle would be extremely difficult.
Sure enough, after the dust settled, he saw the Riot Soldiers still holding their formation. York's heart sank a little, and he said helplessly:
"See those guys? They're probably the toughest! They don't look like native soldiers at all. Tell your men to keep attacking! We need to break through their defenses as quickly as possible!"
After saying this, he ignored Mensen's astonished expression and loudly urged his own soldiers to continue the attack.
In a short while!
The infantry formations of both sides clashed together. The Riot Soldiers, relying on their superior physical strength, stubbornly withstood the Borton Family soldiers' assaults.
The two sides exchanged blows, with shouts of killing echoing through the air. The fighting was fierce, and soldiers were constantly hit by spears and crossbow bolts, falling to the ground with cries of agony.
The soldiers on the city walls were forced to cease their attacks due to the interference of the wildfire.
At this moment, the clan warriors were also becoming somewhat disorganized because of the fire. Some of them listened to Lauren Hawkeye's command and joined the archers in extinguishing the flames.
Another group clamored to go down and eliminate the enemy, but fortunately, Henk and the city guard captain, Mans, stopped them in time.
Under the leadership of Mans and the others, the clan warriors quickly joined the fire-fighting efforts.
The wildfire had a very peculiar characteristic; it seemed to possess a certain corrosiveness. The fire in this large area above the city gate had not diminished at all.
Fortunately, Mako reminded them to use sand to extinguish the fire, otherwise, the flames would have continued for a long time.
Mako was not very satisfied, or rather, was very disappointed with the clan warriors' performance in this battle, but he also saw their shortcomings.
However, Mako had already made up his mind. After this campaign, he would have Sas Ting and the others give these clan warriors some intensive training. At the very least, he wanted them to know what "obedience" meant!
Mako glanced at the chaotic battlefield, understanding it was time to change the situation.
He turned to a nearby archer and said, "Send the signal!"
"Whoosh!"
A whistling arrow cut through the air, its strange sound carrying far.
Soon after, Griffon Siwang, along with his four underlings, charged down from the Griffon Tower. Seeing Mako's location, they flew over and landed beside him.
Mako then called over Naksis, instructing him to ride the griffon with him and take to the sky. The old man initially tried to avoid it with various excuses.
But after Mako fixed him with a murderous glare, he gave in, muttering indistinct words as he climbed onto the griffon!
Meanwhile, Baoya Mensen and Black Eel York also spotted the griffon flying in the sky. Likewise, they noticed the silver-haired, purple-eyed youth and the strangely dressed old man.
York swallowed hard, turning to Mensen beside him. "Is that a griffon? But! Aren't those things just legends? What's going on?"
His voice was filled with shock and disbelief!
Mensen was also stunned when he saw Mako and the others, but he quickly recovered, shouting loudly, "Enemy attack! In the sky! Brothers of the 'Blood Hand', prepare to snipe!"
Then, he turned to York and roared, "I don't give a damn what it is! Even if there's a dragon flying in the sky today, I'm going to shoot it down! Long live Terror Fortress! Fire!"
People are always filled with fear of the unknown, especially when it comes to legendary creatures. Although Mensen shouted loudly, the slight tremor in his voice betrayed him!
Following Mensen's shout, many Borton Family soldiers also saw the griffon soaring in the sky. However, many archers didn't launch an attack because they were afraid.
Only the "Blood Hand" soldiers followed orders and began aiming their bows and crossbows at the griffon in the sky.
Mako ordered the Griffons to flap their wings, using the powerful gusts to knock down the incoming crossbow bolts one by one.
After estimating the distance, Mako urged Naksis to begin casting. The old man recited the incantation, gathering the magical energy within his body, and gradually, a basketball-sized fireball materialized in his hand.
Guided by Naksis, the fireball charged towards the ground at an incredible speed, growing larger as it traveled through the air and radiating terrifying heat. This sight froze some of the soldiers in place with fear.
"Evade!"
Boom!
After the violent explosion, about ten soldiers were left lying on the ground, their bodies charred.
The officer's shout had some effect; some soldiers had thrown themselves down beforehand and avoided the deadly blow.
Meanwhile, some of the soldiers nearby were knocked to the ground by the force of the explosion, and their formation was thrown into disarray.
Mako watched the display of power and shook his head helplessly. He thought to himself, It seems I still can't put all my focus on magic. Building up resources and massing troops is the foundation for me to conquer this world.
\n\n
So, Mako opened his spellbook again and turned to the summon magic page, selecting "Summon Elementals."
\n\n
At the city gate, a huge six-pointed star appeared behind the Riot Soldiers.
\n\n
"Roar!"
\n\n
A wave of scorching energy surged forth, and a Fire Elemental, about 3 meters tall, emerged with a roar.
\n\n
Guided by Mako, it attacked the soldiers outside the city gate, launching two massive fire columns towards them.
\n\n
"Ah!"
\n\n
"A monster!"
\n\n
"Evade!"
"Defend!"
Although the orders from Mensen and York were delivered promptly, more than 20 soldiers were still burned into flaming figures.
The appearance of the Fire Elemental caused many soldiers to waver, but their long training and obedience to their superiors kept them in their positions.
Under the scolding and shoving of Mensen and York, the Borton Family soldiers finally mustered their courage and launched an attack on the Fire Elemental. One after another, crossbow bolts struck the creature, causing it to emit a series of miserable howls.
Although these arrows were all burned away by its "Flame Shield," the Fire Elemental's reaction gave the Borton Family soldiers hope that they could hold on.
Mensen and York exchanged a glance, and both breathed a sigh of relief. When they first saw the Fire Elemental, they had thought they were finished.
But fortunately, this strange creature wasn't as terrifying as it appeared on the surface. It could be injured and it could howl, which meant it could also die.
But Mako didn't intend to let them continue like this. He turned to Naksis beside him and said:
"Get ready! Just Power! Target the Fire Elemental! Hmm!"
Seeing the old man preparing to complain again, Mako raised his tone another notch.
Mako himself used "Rapid Response," and the effects of the two spells quickly manifested on the Fire Elemental. Immediately afterward, its second flame attack finished charging.
"Boom! Boom!"
Two pillars of fire shot out instantly, clearing a section of the area. However, this time, many of the Borton Family soldiers had already figured out the trajectory of the fire pillars, and this attack only cost them a dozen or so casualties.
At that moment, Unicorn Silverflash, with a powerful momentum, leaped out from behind the Fire Elemental. Light flashed from its body, instantly blinding the eyes of the soldiers in front of it.
At the same time, the archers on the city wall extinguished the flames, and a dense rain of arrows flew down with Silverflash's attack.
Bang! In an instant, those soldiers blinded by the effect were riddled with arrows, turned into a pincushion.
Unicorn Silverflash neighed and charged towards the soldiers on the drawbridge. With the boost of two high-level enhancement spells, it plowed right through the Borton Family's formation.
Many of the soldiers on the bridge were knocked into the water. Taking advantage of the chaos, the Riot Soldiers launched a charge, pushing the front lines near the drawbridge.
At this moment, the Fire Elemental was nearing collapse. It was riddled with unburnt crossbow bolts, and its color had turned a dull yellow.
Mako ordered it to launch a final close-quarters attack. The Fire Elemental, standing over three meters tall, charged into the enemy ranks like a tank, instantly burning three soldiers to death.
A few brave soldiers, seeing no way to escape, gritted their teeth and raised their spears, thrusting them towards the fiery monster. The soldiers behind them followed suit, and over a dozen spears pierced through the Fire Elemental's body in an instant.
"Woo!"
A strange wail echoed out. The Fire Elemental's color dimmed, and it instantly shattered into a pile of fragments.
"Hah! Hah!"
The Borton Family soldiers immediately cheered, their morale soaring, and the formation disrupted by the Unicorn began to gradually recover.
But before they could celebrate for long, a second magic circle reappeared on the battlefield.
After a series of scraping and cracking sounds, a giant Earth Elemental composed of rock emerged behind the Borton Family troops.
Accompanied by Unicorn Silverflash's neigh, the two magical creatures launched a charge against the Borton Family soldiers' formation.
The Earth Elemental's massive fists could smash rows of soldiers at once, and the powerful light energy within the Unicorn's body became even more terrifying under the influence of the two spells.
Each impact sent soldiers and their shields flying far away, and their attacks caused the recently reformed infantry formation to disintegrate instantly.
Bobby Lee (the mob leader), seized the opportunity and employed a step-by-step strategy, breaking down the disrupted Borton Family soldiers one by one.
Mako nodded in satisfaction as he observed the scene, then commanded Griffon Siwang to fly above the city gate.
At this moment, the Borton Family's archer unit was in complete disarray, unable to spare any attention to him.
Mako opened his spellbook and cast a unique spell belonging to human heroes, the "Blessing Ritual."
A giant phantom of an angel instantly appeared above the city gate. A surge of divine power and light spread into the bodies of every System Soldier with the angel's emergence.
Seeing this eerie phantom and the radiant light, the Borton Family soldiers were utterly panicked. Many of the fainthearted threw down their weapons and began to flee, wailing.
The magic and fantastical creatures encountered today had already instilled fear in many of the soldiers. Mako's final move was the last straw!
The tall phantom made the soldiers think Mako was preparing some terrifying sorcerous attack!
Unknown threats are always the most frightening, and before the attack even arrived, everyone was filled with dread!
"Ah! The giant dragon is here! Dragonfire is coming! Ah!" a soldier screamed, unable to bear it any longer.
His cry immediately triggered the emotions of all the soldiers, and now it wasn't just a few running away.
Instead, all the soldiers dropped their weapons and began to flee. Baoya Mensen and Black Eel York, along with their thirty-plus guards, couldn't stop the retreating soldiers.
Mensen and York were soon exposed in Mako's line of sight within the crowd. These two were also very cautious, hiding in the middle of the formation to command from the start. If the soldiers hadn't started to scatter, Mako might not have even discovered them!
Mako waved his hand, and Unicorn Silverflash neighed, charging towards them.
The Earth Elemental attacked from another direction. The soldiers along the way were terrified and steered clear of them!
Mensen and York saw the two magical creatures attacking them, but they had nowhere to retreat. Helplessly, they could only steel themselves and face them.
Unicorn Silverflash took the lead, its powerful force erupting instantly. The strange light directly triggered a blinding effect on the front row of soldiers.
The powerful light energy within him erupted, smashing through the makeshift shield wall the guards had formed. The Earth Elemental followed closely behind, charging into the breach in their defenses.
The two powerful magical creatures took less than a minute to knock all the soldiers to the ground. The Riot Soldiers took advantage of the situation, swarming in to bind them.
"Alright, my soldiers! Enough blood has been spilled today. I need prisoners now! Go! Show them your strength!"
Seeing that the situation was under control, Mako ordered a full-scale attack. The clan warriors on the city walls had already followed Lauren down to the city gates.
Upon hearing the order, they were all excited, and they howled as they charged towards the fleeing soldiers.
The Crawl clan warriors of Abyss Fortress were the most experienced when it came to capturing and binding people, so Mako felt at ease leaving it to them.
Dominic Borton was incredibly frustrated at this moment because he had just been captured by the enemy!
Those cunning enemies had disguised their warships as merchant ships, and had their people pretend to be dead on the deck. Then, they came to seek his protection.
Dominic, feeling soft-hearted, ignored the protests of his men and connected the two warships.
He hadn't expected those guys to attack immediately after boarding, using him as leverage to force the other two warships' sailors to surrender!
At that moment, a young man, teasing a swift hawk, said to a burly man, "Captain Charles! What do you think? Am I right? This guy's a big fish, isn't he!"
On the other side, First Mate Michael praised, "Hahaha! Langya! You're amazing! No wonder the Lord values you so much!"
