At this moment, in the nearby Kaster's fortress, the owner of the house, Kaster, was staring at the scene in the distance with a look of shock.
Five days ago, he suddenly received a raven from the Black Castle. Because he had always been in contact with the Black Castle, Kaster also kept some Ravens here, just to notify the Night's Watch to come and pick up their fallen.
Old Bear had advised Kaster in the letter to leave here quickly, saying that a Heretic from the south was coming to kill him as a Sacrifice to the Gods.
At first, Kaster didn't believe it, but after receiving consecutive letters, he couldn't help but take it seriously.
After much consideration, Kaster decided to seek help from his Gods, to escape this possible death.
Kaster had a special Horn in his hand, which his Gods had bestowed upon him.
When blown, it wouldn't make any sound, but as soon as he blew it, the Wights would appear.
Back when Kaster made a deal with the Wights in his dreams, they had an agreement. If his life was ever threatened, he could blow the Horn.
If the Wights arrived and found no Sacrifice, they would appear near Kaster's fortress to provide him with protection.
Over the decades, Kaster had relied on the Wights' protection to gradually establish himself in this area.
The tribes around him, who had once coveted his wife and wealth, had all been destroyed in the end, their bodies turned into Ghouls by the Wights.
As time passed, the Wildlings all knew of Kaster's fearsomeness and fled the area, making his fortress a forbidden place in their hearts.
Therefore, many new recruits of the Night's Watch found it strange that a man with nineteen women could survive so long beyond the Wall.
Many veterans had heard the stories of Kaster, and thus maintained a respectful distance from the man.
It was just a pity that, despite all his calculations, Kaster hadn't anticipated that some hotheads would disregard the orders of their superiors and the rights of guests, and kill him in his own home!
Long years of pampered living had made Kaster accustomed to being superior, and he had underestimated the flaws in human nature!
However, at this moment, Kaster was like a stray dog. When he saw the Ghouls being eliminated one after another, he was truly terrified.
But when the Giant Ghoul appeared, Kaster managed to push back his heart, which was about to leap out of his chest.
Kaster was already imagining the scene of the enemy's complete annihilation. He knew how terrifying giants were, so his heart was filled with hope!
But what he didn't expect was that in just a few breaths, something so terrifying in his eyes was instantly turned into ashes.
Following that, the appearance of the Water Elementals and the Hades Banshee plunged him into the abyss.
Kaster now regretted his actions immensely. He felt that he had already taken this matter seriously enough, but he had still underestimated the Heretic that Old Bear spoke of.
Kaster wanted to run away, but he couldn't bear to give up his current life. Therefore, he ultimately placed his hope on his "Gods."
Kaster tightened his trembling lips and shouted at his daughters, who were reciting their vows:
"Daya! You little bitch! Get over here! We're preparing the Sacrifice for the Gods, quickly, quickly! Do you want a whipping?"
Upon hearing Kaster's shout, the women who had been reciting their vows visibly paused.
Soon after, a curly-haired girl, around 20 years old, shakily walked out of the crowd, muttering to herself:
"Sacrifice for the Gods, sacrifice for the Gods... ah!"
"Slap!"
The round-faced girl, who was still reciting her vows, was suddenly slapped by her father. Before she could react, Kaster pounced on her.
Following that, the sound of ripping clothes echoed through Kaster's crude hall, and soon after, groans of pain could be heard.
However, these sounds were quickly drowned out by the repeated chanting of prayers. Kaster's wives, ignoring their husbands' abuse, continued to recite mechanically:
"Sacrifice to the Gods!"
"To the Gods...!"
————————Fighting Scene Break————————
The Hades Banshee, revealing her form, let out a howl and attacked the ghouls to the west. She moved with incredible speed, appearing before the first ghoul in a flash.
The Hades Banshee's slender fingers were made of sharp bone spurs. With a "shh" sound, the left side of a tall ghoul's face was completely torn apart.
Two ghouls leaped forward, trying to pin down the Hades Banshee, but they missed.
The two ghouls passed right through the Hades Banshee's body and crashed into the snow, like two groundhogs burrowing into the earth!
It turned out to be the Hades Banshee's incorporeal trait that was activated, which was why the two Ghouls' attacks didn't work.
The incorporeal trait gave the enemy a 50% chance to fail physical and magical attacks against the ghost.
After two hits or two misses, there would definitely be a miss or a hit.
The Hades Banshee ignored the two unlucky fellows and continued to advance, targeting the other two Ghouls.
Its sharp bone claws slashed forward left and right, directly smashing the faces of those two Ghouls into a pile of mush, making Mako, who was watching from the side, jump.
He couldn't help but think silently, this undead creature he had created was a complete "face-scratching maniac," and every move was a critical hit, directly hitting the vital points.
Looking at the Ghouls whose faces had been ruined, Mako estimated that even the best plastic surgery hospital on his previous Blue Star wouldn't be able to restore the Ghouls' faces.
The powerful Hades Banshee was like a lion entering a flock of sheep, ruthlessly ravaging these Ghouls, leaving the 100 or so Ghouls completely defenseless.
Seeing the summoning time was about to expire, Mako directly issued an order to the Hades Banshee to attack without regard for the consequences.
10 seconds! The Hades Banshee dodged an attack from a Ghoul and casually smashed its head.
9 seconds! Three ice spears struck at the Hades Banshee from three different angles. She swiftly dodged the first two, but the third one hit her arm.
8 seconds! The Hades Banshee endured the corrosive effects of the freezing energy and forcefully pulled the ice spear out of her arm.
"Awoo!"
7 seconds! The bone-chilling cold caused the Hades Banshee's heart to fill with pain and hatred. She used this emotion to unleash a "Banshee Scream."
6 seconds! This emotional power, erupting from the depths of her soul, caused five Wights to falter. Their ice spear attacks, which they had been preparing, were also interrupted.
5 seconds! Under the summons of the Wights, the Ghouls to the west all abandoned their attacks on Mako and rushed towards the Hades Banshee, whose speed had noticeably slowed.
Four seconds! The three fastest Ghouls leaped towards the Hades Banshee, aiming to knock her down, but they still missed.
Three seconds! Another fast Ghoul jumped up and grabbed the Hades Banshee's injured arm.
Two seconds! Taking advantage of the Ghouls' interference, two Wights hurled their ice spears, striking the Hades Banshee's chest with precision, piercing through her bone armor.
One second! Ignoring her injured body, the Hades Banshee charged towards the leading Wight.
At this moment, three Ghouls clung to her, frantically tearing at her body. Her materialized form flickered in and out, appearing quite bizarre!
Zero seconds! The Hades Banshee erupted instantly, shoving off the Ghouls and charging directly in front of the leading Wight, her sharp bone claws sinking into the Wight's face.
As time ran out, the Hades Banshee let out a mournful howl, then dispersed into a cloud of black mist, flowing back into Mako's body from all directions.
Seeing the Hades Banshee disappear, the other four Wights relaxed their bodies in a very human-like manner, as if they had just sighed in relief!
Only the leading Wight didn't move. Instead, its body slowly fell backward, finally collapsing straight onto the ground.
It had five holes in its face, and green slime flowed from them, seemingly corroding the Wight's face bit by bit.
Thanks to the Hades Banshee's interference, Mako and his men successfully broke through the Ghouls. Now, they had charged to within about 100 meters of the Wights!
Naksis raised his hands, and a fireball slowly formed in his grasp. With a "boom," the fireball attacked the Ghouls at an extremely fast speed.
"Bang!"
The energy of the consecutive fireballs erupted instantly, setting more than 30 Ghouls ablaze. They charged towards Mako and his men, their bodies on fire.
But they only ran a few meters before most of their flesh was burned away by the flames. Finally, they could only fall unwillingly in front of the soldiers.
Because their leader had lost its combat ability, the four Wights were momentarily thrown into chaos. Fortunately, after a brief exchange, they divided responsibilities.
Two towering Wights pulled up the ice spears stuck in the ground beside them and charged towards Mako and his companions, seemingly preparing for close combat.
Meanwhile, the other two Ghouls raised their hands, their eyes flashing with blue light, as if preparing to summon more Ghouls.
Sas Tin and the other two led the charge, forming a "品" shaped attack formation to meet the two Ghouls.
Although this was their first time fighting against real Wights, they had all listened to Mako's explanation of the Wights' weaknesses and fighting methods, and they knew that steel weapons were ineffective against them.
Therefore, Sas Tin and his companions chose to use obsidian spears and daggers to deal with the Wights, preparing to give them a memorable lesson.
The two tall Wights used the ice spears in their hands like two-handed greatswords, slamming them hard against the shields.
They seemed to have already seen the terrified faces of the humans, because the humans' shields couldn't possibly withstand a single blow from the ice spears.
"BOOM!"
The Wights' attack didn't shatter the shield. The Obsidian embedded in the shield flashed red, stubbornly withstanding the ice spear's assault.
Seeing their attack fail, the two Wights were somewhat panicked. They had fought against the Wildling soldiers before.
The Wights knew that human weapons were useless against them. This was their confidence. In their memory, no human could withstand their close-range attacks.
But this confidence was completely shattered by the three humans in front of them. Sas Tin and the others' attacks were unified, a shield bash followed by a stone spear thrust.
The two Wights were instantly turned into ice shards that scattered everywhere. Fearing they wouldn't kill the Wights, Sas Tin and the others followed up their successful attacks by stabbing the two Wights with Obsidian daggers.
"Whoosh"
Just then, a violent blizzard swept in, making it difficult for Mako and the others to see.
It seemed another Wight had unleashed a blizzard attack, but this blizzard was too weak, not as terrifying as the one they had encountered in the Children of the Forest's grove!
Mako opened his spellbook and immediately flipped to the section for his personal skills. He clicked on the zero-cost spell he used frequently, "Blessing Ritual."
A giant angelic phantom appeared directly above Mako, its strange energy immediately breaking through the Wights' blizzard.
After the blizzard dissipated, the leading Wight appeared before them. Its face was now completely rotted.
The Hades Banshee's previous strike, filled with hatred, had almost ripped off its head. Fortunately, its robust vitality had allowed it to endure.
However, this Wight was now severely corrupted by the Hades Banshee's power, its face looking like a melted popsicle, extremely disgusting.
The two Wights behind it had already completed their summons, and over thirty Ghouls charged out from behind them, joining the attack on Mako and his companions.
Mako seized the opportunity to fire a "Magic Arrow" at the leading Wight, and the unattribute Magic Arrow sliced off half its head.
The Wight howled and fell to the ground. Lauren Hawkeye, standing beside Mako, saw her chance and shot two Obsidian arrows at it.
The lead Ghoul was struck in the chest by an arrow, and its body began to slowly dissipate. Two Wights nearby attempted to pull out the arrow, but Lauren Hawkeye stopped them.
After dodging several arrows, the two Wights showed signs of retreat. They roared, and all the Ghouls stood in front of them, frantically attacking Mako and his group.
Seeing the Wights attempt to flee, Henk and the others launched a surprise attack. The snow bears in full armor had Obsidian inlaid on their forepaw armor and helmets.
During a short-distance charge, this could also inflict significant damage on the Ghouls. The wounds inflicted by the Obsidian continuously corroded the Ghouls' flesh.
The charge of the snow bear knights directly tore a bloody path through the Ghoul horde.
Seeing the two Wights attempting to escape, Mako once again opened his spellbook, this time choosing a dark magic spell.
He cast "Weakness Curse" and "Rotting Curse" on the two Wights in turn. These four spells consumed a total of 16 magic points for Mako.
The two Wights, which had been moving swiftly, slowed down considerably after being hit by the spells, and were soon overtaken by the snow bear knights.
Over a dozen Obsidian arrows instantly pierced through two Wights. Mako's dark magic significantly weakened the two Wights, preventing them from dodging the attack.
With the death of five Wights, the remaining Ghouls all fell to the ground, motionless!
Afterward, Mako ordered his subordinates to clean up the battlefield. The corpses missing limbs were all burned by Mako.
In addition, Mako selected 15 relatively intact corpses and used "Undead Resurrection" on them.
These Ghouls would be used as cannon fodder in Mako's later actions. After being bound with rags, they looked almost like ordinary Wildling warriors.
