Chapter 62 - Ancient Bloodline

Mako walked alone in the dim underground passages of Winterfell. This time, he hadn't brought anyone. After all, he was going to mess around in someone's Ancestral Tomb, and it would be disastrous if he was discovered because he had too many people with him.

He felt a little embarrassed, having eaten their food and now coming to their Ancestral Tomb to take things.

Sigh! I'm still too soft-hearted! I'll just help them take over the North in the future! Save them the trouble!

Mako thought silently to himself.

When he arrived in front of Lyanna Stark's statue, Mako examined it again. He found that the strange energy he had sensed before was gone. Helpless, Mako had to leave that level.

The underground tomb of House Stark was very complex. If it weren't for the guidance of the Three-Eyed Raven, Mako might have gotten lost. After he didn't know how long he had been walking, Mako finally stopped in front of a closed gate in the underground tomb.

Mako looked at the crumbling dome above his head and said to the Three-Eyed Raven in his mind:

"You're not trying to bury me here, are you? If I open this, will I even survive?"

The Three-Eyed Raven in Mako's mind replied, "Mako, believe me, what's in here is absolutely worth the risk. And, as you should feel, there's an ancient magical array at work here; it won't collapse so easily!"

"Alright! I'll give it a try!"

With that, Mako gently pushed against the stone door in front of him. This was already the lowest level of the entire underground tomb, and the statues and burial chambers here were mostly decayed.

It seemed that House Stark's underground tomb also had a magical array set up by the Children of the Forest, which allowed air to circulate throughout the space, making it less damp and cold than the upper levels.

However, because of the long time that had passed, everything here had mostly weathered away, and the dome also looked like it was about to collapse. Only the stone door in front of Mako was still intact, though the patterns and statues on it were no longer visible.

As Mako pushed gently, the stone door suddenly shattered. It turned out that a layer of dusty crust had accumulated on the door due to the long-term accumulation of dust.

After the dust settled, an exquisitely crafted weirwood door appeared before Mako. The patterns on the door frame were very beautiful, with a total of four carvings.

The first depicted the invasion of the White Walkers, with White Walkers, Ice Spiders, and Wights carved in great detail; the second depicted a battle scene, with a group of human soldiers fighting the White Walkers in the forest; the third depicted a warrior, who was portrayed as a middle-aged man holding a longsword and wearing armor, looking very handsome; the fourth depicted the swordsman stabbing a longsword into the chest of a White Walker, and the end of the longsword was still burning, with the flames carved very vividly.

Mako murmured to himself, "Is this the legendary hero, Azor Ahai?"

The Three-Eyed Raven answered in Mako's mind, "That memory is too old! I don't even remember what that human looked like! Maybe it's him! Or maybe not! Who knows? But the longsword inside should be the legendary 'Lightbringer'! Although I can't get too close to it, I can still feel its powerful energy!"

Mako slowly pushed open the door and entered this special chamber, which had been carved out of the wall. It looked to be about 50 square meters. In the center of the room was a platform, and on the platform was a stone throne. A dry corpse, holding a longsword, sat there, looking very imposing.

Mako looked at the dry corpse and said, "Could it be the legendary hero? But it's been thousands of years. Shouldn't it be preserved so completely?"

Even though he had doubts, Mako still went up for the sake of the sword. After carefully walking through the central passage, Mako arrived at the platform. He gently reached out his hand, wanting to try and grab the hilt.

As Mako's hand touched the hilt, a flame suddenly ignited on the longsword's blade. Then, the longsword slowly turned towards Mako, and the dry corpse gradually turned into ash that fluttered in the air.

Everything happened very suddenly, without the ghostly revivals and trap events that Mako had imagined, which made him secretly a little disappointed.

Ding! Congratulations, Host! You have obtained the high-level treasure 'Flame Dragon's Tongue'. This treasure is a magical creation, known as 'Lightbringer' in this world. The sword has dragon breath attribute flames and has a natural ability to restrain White Walkers and Wights.

Flame Dragon's Tongue, a high-level treasure. When a hero uses this weapon to attack, it deals additional fire damage to enemies. The ice-attribute magic damage suffered by the hero's troops is halved.

Mako nodded in satisfaction as he looked at the weapon in his hand. The system was very user-friendly regarding treasure equipment. The treasures Mako was currently equipped with could either be materialized or absorbed into his body.

Mako opened his inventory and found that the magic wand had been replaced by the system. With a thought, the Flame Dragon's Tongue also turned into a stream of light and flowed into Mako's body.

"My Lord Mako! Congratulations! This 'Lightbringer' has been sealed for many years, and today it will finally see the light of day again in your hands!"

The voice of the Three-Eyed Raven suddenly appeared in Mako's mind, with a hint of excitement in its tone.

Mako was quite pleased and said, "That's right! The gains today are really good! By the way, where did that strange energy come from? Didn't you say you had a clue?"

"Actually..."

The Three-Eyed Raven told Mako that he had obtained a lot of memories in the weirwood tree in Winterfell and found some very interesting information within them.

"Lord Mako! Have you heard the story of the 'Lost Daughter' of House Stark?"

"The Lost Daughter? You mean the story of the King-Beyond-the-Wall and House Stark? I heard it sung once in the village of White Tree, but there's no truth to that story!

Just imagine, a wildling disguised as a bard sneaks into Winterfell and runs off with their only daughter. Not only that, but they hide in the underground Ancestral Tomb and have a son! Who would believe such a story, except for those crazy 'Free Folk'!"

Mako grumbled to the Three-Eyed Raven in his mind. Honestly, when he first heard the story, Mako thought there were too many plot holes, too many intelligence failures. In the story, only the wildling was the smart one, everyone else was an idiot.

When the story reached the second half, Mako couldn't help but marvel at the wildlings' ability to fantasize. They couldn't beat their enemies, so they turned them into their own people. Honestly, that was truly "free"!

"Lord Mako! You're right! The wildlings certainly don't have that ability, but... what if the protagonist of this story was a White Walker? Or perhaps a half-human, half-White Walker monster?"

The Three-Eyed Raven's calm voice echoed in Mako's mind.

"Oh! Now that's interesting! Tell me more!"

Mako wandered through the underground mausoleum of House Stark, speaking to the Three-Eyed Raven in his mind.

"The bloodline of House Stark can be traced back to the era of the First King. This king left behind many descendants. The most famous are Garth Greenhand, Durran Godsgrief, and Brandon the Builder. All three possessed magical abilities. However, with the passage of time, only House Stark remains as a bearer of this bloodline. That's also why I chose Bran.

I just didn't expect that this bloodline would be unknowingly contaminated by them. If I had really used Bran, I would have been close to being assimilated by them!

This story is too absurd, so I didn't take it seriously at first. But if the protagonist of the story is changed to a half-human, half-White Walker with magic, then everything makes sense. The Night King was the first, but certainly not the last!"

Mako pondered for a moment and said, "So is this situation good or bad for their family? As far as I can see, they are still human! And I haven't felt any changes in their bodies!"

The Three-Eyed Raven paused and said, "Perhaps their goal is also the continuation of their race! Or maybe it's to gain even greater power! The Night King's strength is undeniable, but one Night King might not be enough for the one behind them. It might want more beings like the Night King. After all, although they are powerful, their weaknesses are still too obvious. Dragonglass can easily kill them!"

Mako was a little helpless. "Sigh! It seems I can't let them continue to grow. Otherwise, I'll end up being the emperor of the Wight Empire. I didn't expect these guys' tentacles to have already reached here!"

Just as Mako was walking up the spiral staircase and about to reach the top floor, he suddenly felt a cold energy fluctuation. Sensing danger, Mako quickly retreated.

As expected, the area behind the spiral staircase he had just left was instantly covered in two-meter-long ice spikes. Mako then felt a surge of energy gathering on his level, so he turned to look.

He saw several severely weathered stone statues now enveloped in a ghostly blue energy. Cracking sounds erupted as the statues shattered into pieces, but the energy, like glue, reassembled the fragments.

A moment later, six stone statues, noticeably bulkier, "revived." They held weapons resembling the White Walkers' ice spears and slowly advanced towards Mako. Their pace was slow, but their attacks were powerful. Mako blocked the first statue's swing with his knight's broadsword, only to find he couldn't match its strength.

After a brief clash, Mako's arm felt sore. Although he was only level 6, he could already spar with two Snow Bear Knights during training. The strength of these seemingly fragile stone statue monsters was astonishing.

To save time, Mako immediately manifested the Flame Dragon's Tongue, a greatsword blazing with strange flames, and cleaved the stone statue monster in front of him in two.

He didn't know what these stone statues were, but he could sense the energy fluctuations on their bodies, similar to those of the White Walkers.

Indeed, the Flame Dragon's Tongue's ability to counter them was very apparent. Mako swiftly dealt with the remaining five statues. Just as he was about to leave,

a chilling killing intent suddenly locked onto Mako. Countless ice spikes burst from the damp ground, targeting him. He dodged and weaved, using the Flame Dragon's Tongue to sever the incoming ice spikes.

At this moment, a pretty figure slowly descended from the steps. It was a being somewhat similar to a White Walker. If there was anything different, it was that this one's body was a bit bluer, and some parts of her body were covered in winter snow roses, giving her an eerie beauty.

"Humans! Die!...Children! Run!"

That strange sound, like ice scraping, seemed to contain another voice.

A crackling sound rang out from behind. Without guessing, Mako knew that the six statues had come back to life. Looking at the seemingly hopeless situation, Mako couldn't help but sigh inwardly, saying:

"Sigh! Why do you have to push me?"

The female White Walker, hearing Mako's words, was clearly stunned, as if she understood Mako's words. But before she could react, a powerful energy burst out from Mako's body.

The Hades Banshee's powerful pressure instantly pushed the female White Walker back a step. The Hades Banshee first attacked the six stone statues behind Mako, and those six statues couldn't compete with the Hades Banshee at all, and were directly smashed into pieces.

Seeing that there was still time, the Hades Banshee grabbed a broken stone statue head and slowly walked towards the female White Walker. As she passed Mako, she gently hooked his right hand.

Mako looked at the Hades Banshee with a helpless expression. He felt that his summoned creature was a bit unreliable. The female White Walker, on the other hand, looked terrified and wanted to run, but found that she couldn't move at all.

The Hades Banshee flashed forward and grabbed the female White Walker's face with her right hand's bone claw. Her left hand reached directly into her body and yanked out a twisted soul.

"Hmm! Isn't this a White Walker? Then what exactly is she?"

Mako was somewhat surprised. In this underground tomb, the only ones who could possibly become White Walkers were the three direct relatives of Eddard Stark, and the only female among them could be Lyanna Stark.

"Ah!"

After crushing and swallowing the twisted soul, the Hades Banshee turned her attention to another soul, preparing to devour it while she still had time. She had noticed the abnormality of this female ghost earlier, so she deliberately tortured the ghost a bit. This would fill the soul with pain and torment, making it more delicious to eat!

"Alright! Leave her be! I have other things to do!"

"Master!..."

The Hades Banshee's alluring voice echoed, her six ruby-like eyes filled with confusion. Before she could utter another word, her body instantly transformed into a stream of energy, returning to Mako's form.

Mako, facing this chaotic soul, slowly spoke, "Are you really Lyanna Stark? Why have you become this? Didn't your brother and father become like you?"

"I...I don't know...My body seems to be dissipating!...Save..."
