Chapter 75 - First Clash

Moonshadow hadn't finished speaking when Mark tackled them to the ground. At that moment, an ice spear struck the very spot Moonshadow had been standing.

"Enemy attack! Prepare for battle!"

Sas Tin roared and immediately rallied the soldiers around him. Soon, a makeshift defensive circle formed directly in front of Mark.

"Awooo!"

Accompanied by a series of howls, groups of Ghouls swarmed out of the snow and forests near the ice lake. It seemed that a large number of corpses were buried beneath the ground and within that colossal ice lake. The massive deathly aura concealed the Wights' presence, affecting Mark's judgment and causing him to be surrounded once again.

Mark was not surprised or afraid. Ghoul armies were everywhere beyond the Wall, and Mark had long been prepared to encounter the Night King and his forces.

Mark shifted his gaze to the edge of the forest, where a dozen "knights" were mounted on Undead Horses. The Night King stood in the center of the formation, still wearing that expressionless face. It held no weapon in its hand. It seemed that, having failed in its ambush, it had no intention of continuing the attack. After all, humans were such small targets, and the Night King was not a real "Gold Medal Javelin Champion"!

The dense Ghouls surged towards Mark and his group like a tsunami, stretching as far as the eye could see. They looked ferocious and terrifying, emanating endless death and killing intent. The unique stench of the dead also swept over them on the wind, causing some of the Wildling women, who were being protected by the soldiers, to begin to weep softly.

Wildling warriors and Spear-Wives mingled behind the mob soldiers, forming a dense spear formation. It looked like a hedgehog curled up, all its spikes now facing the enemy, waiting for them to come and smash themselves to pieces!

With Sas Tin's order, wooden caltrops, like iron jacks, were thrown out. These caltrops were inlaid with sharp obsidian shards. In a moment, a defensive layer of Obsidian Caltrops appeared around Mark's circular formation.

The Night King in the distance narrowed his eyes, seemingly aware of the different weapons Mark's side possessed. He raised his arms, and a fierce Blizzard suddenly erupted behind him.

The violent Blizzard, mixed with countless ice crystals, swept towards Mark and his soldiers. The soldiers directly facing the Blizzard were blown away, unable to see anything. Confusion and fear spread through the Wildling warriors' hearts; without Mark's skill buffs, they were doing well just standing their ground.

Just then, a giant Angel's Phantom suddenly appeared in the sky above the circular formation. The Blizzard was blocked by this massive energy, instantly weakening significantly, and the Wildling warriors on Mark's side roared with excitement!

The Night King in the distance also narrowed his eyes when he saw the phantom, his expression as if he had seen something interesting, but he also felt that this magic had no offensive power!

Looking at the dense Ghoul army in the distance, Mark opened his spellbook, moved to a spell he had always wanted to try, and after clicking to cast it, Mark suddenly shouted to Joman the Mummy not far away:

"Joman! Get behind me, quickly!"

Mark had barely finished speaking when a huge ball of light appeared in the center of the battlefield. This time, Mark had chosen the ultimate spell from the light magic page: "Holy Word of Light." This spell was also the only group attack spell in light magic.

Holy Word of Light (Wht)

Magic Level: 5

Mana Cost: 15

Deals massive holy damage to all undead creatures and creatures of the hellish forces on the battlefield, and to orcs with the Berserk Blood trait, regardless of friend or foe!

Mark didn't use blood magic this time, so he only needed to worry about Joman the Mummy among his own soldiers. Moreover, Mark had specifically moved the release point of this magic to the farthest place he could cast!

After the ball of light formed, giant pillars of light extended from an unknown space. They pierced through the obstruction of the dark clouds and slowly descended to the ground, protecting the ball of light. Immediately after, a beautiful and moving angel's phantom appeared at the position of the ball of light, and waves of pure and holy singing came from its mouth.

The singing was filled with longing for light and beauty, but the Ghouls didn't care about any of that. They still carried out their master's orders, frantically rushing towards the humans, their decaying bodies oblivious to the slight heat in the air.

Far on the edge of the forest, the Night King frowned as he watched the giant figure. He seemed to sense a hint of threat within it, but he couldn't be certain. He summoned over two thousand more ghouls from the rear.

At that moment, the tone of the holy chant suddenly shifted, filled with hatred for corruption and disorder. The faint, scorching energy in the air began to contract rapidly, converging toward the center of the light sphere.

The Night King also noticed this problem. He immediately ordered the ghouls surrounding him to form a tight circle around him and his subordinates. He first hurled an Ice Spear at the Angel's Phantom, and when that had no effect, he gathered all his power and struck the Angel's Phantom!

At this moment, the Angel's Phantom twisted and contracted violently, finally transforming into a massive energy sphere. With a "boom," a wave of energy carrying intense holy damage exploded outward, seemingly intent on purifying all evil in the world.

The ghouls closest to the explosion disappeared instantly, as if they had never existed. The ghouls further away turned into burning figures. The holy white flames were slowly scorching their decaying bodies, releasing the resentment and curses contained within them.

The Night King and his ghouls, protected by the ghoul horde, didn't suffer too much damage, but they felt some discomfort. The suppressing effects of the holy magic seemed to have caused a certain degree of shock to their souls! When the Night King looked toward the center of the battlefield, his movements visibly faltered, as if he had been frightened by the power of the magic.

At this time, a large pit, about 10 meters in diameter, appeared in the very center of the ghoul horde. The ghouls around the pit had all vanished, leaving no trace, as if they had never appeared. It was complete annihilation, with not a shred of life energy remaining!

Over 3,000 ghouls died in that single blow, and another 2,000 were being burned by flames. The entire army of over 20,000 ghouls had suffered some damage. The magic had exploded right in the center of the ghoul army, so the vanguard of the ghouls still managed to reach Mark and the others.

Joman, feeling uncomfortable, emerged from behind Mark. He immediately activated his "Raise Undead" magic, turning the 100 charging Ghouls into his subordinates. After casting the spell a second time, he controlled 200 Ghouls to form the first line of defense.

Brynden Raven and Naxius unleashed their most powerful spells. Lightning and fireballs shot from their hands, blasting the attacking Ghouls to pieces.

Moonshadow continuously summoned giant, palm-sized bees from the void, directing them to attack the Ghouls. With the assistance of the four of them, the Ghoul forces suffered heavy losses!

The Night King in the distance was also shocked. In its ancient memory, it had never encountered such magic. At the same time, a desire to retreat unconsciously arose in its heart.

Initially, it had received orders from its master to ambush a group of humans. It had thought that leading a force of 20,000 would be enough to solve the problem, but now it seemed far from simple.

Mark and his group had officially engaged the Ghoul forces. After being hit by Mark's "Holy Word of Light," the Ghouls' speed and strength had decreased significantly. Under the barrage of magic, a large number of Ghouls fell on the charge. When they finally reached the vicinity of the circle formation, they were met with a forest of obsidian caltrops.

Seeing that the Night King showed no sign of retreat, Mark grew anxious. He gritted his teeth and activated the light magic "Teleportation."

Teleportation (Teleportation)

Magic Level: 4

Mana Cost: 8

Teleports friendly units to any location on the battlefield.

Basic: Target teleportation distance is 50 meters.

Intermediate: Target teleportation distance is 100 meters.

Advanced: Target teleportation distance is 200 meters.

Expert: Target teleportation distance is 400 meters.

Mark, having targeted the Night King's position, used Teleportation three times in a row. When he reached the center of the Ghoul troops, he unleashed a "Holy Word of Light". Having learned from his first attempt, he knew how to cast the spell to minimize the damage to his own forces.

The Night King's heart sank as he saw the terrifying magic appear on the battlefield once more. He immediately ordered the ghouls around him to disperse, but before he could react, a terrifying energy fluctuation appeared directly above his head.

The Night King looked up just in time to see a longsword blazing with fire cleave down towards him. Without a second thought, he snatched an ice spear from one of his subordinates and clashed with Mark's "Flame Dragon's Tongue."

BOOM!

The ice spear and Flame Dragon's Tongue interacted, unleashing a tremendous force. The terrifying shockwave spread outwards from the point of impact, turning the ghouls around the Night King into ash. The wights around him were also sent flying by the powerful force.

Mark couldn't withstand the Night King's immense power either, and was knocked back several meters. However, this only ignited Mark's competitive spirit. He began to cast buffing spells on himself while in mid-air.

After the magic was complete, Mark landed lightly on the ground. At this moment, the "Holy Word of Light" had just finished forming. Mark pointed at the sky, then swung his sword, killing a wight that was attempting to ambush him. Then, he turned his gaze towards the Night King, his eyes full of disdain, and pointed the Flame Dragon's Tongue at him.

Finally, provoked by Mark, a hint of anger appeared on the Night King's eternally grim face. He roared and charged towards Mark, gripping the ice spear in his hand.

After activating the "Omniscience" skill, Mark heard a retreat order in the roar. Therefore, he charged forward and began to hack at the Night King.

The Night King was getting more and more alarmed the longer the battle went on. He sensed that the first spell was about to erupt. He also couldn't help but feel annoyed, secretly blaming himself for being impulsive. Helpless, he could only increase his control over the Ghouls, ordering them to surround Mark and his companions. He aimed to use them to mitigate the damage from the upcoming spell, and also to use the Ghouls to harass Mark, giving him a chance to escape.

The other Others on the battlefield were steadfastly carrying out the Night King's orders, directing the Ghoul army to disperse in all directions, hoping to minimize the damage!

Mark continued to grapple with the Night King, trying to keep him trapped there to take the full brunt of the most powerful attack. However, the Night King didn't share the same intention. He swung his Ice Spear, aiming a fierce blow at Mark's head, seemingly intending to cleave him in two with a single strike.

With a loud bang, the forceful strike knocked Mark back. However, the Ice Spear in the Night King's hand shattered into a cloud of icy fragments!

Just as Mark was about to continue his assault, a series of strange roars suddenly echoed from behind. Beast Ghouls charged towards Mark. They were faster than the human Ghouls, and were among the first to arrive. Without turning his head, Mark cast the spell "Raise Undead," instantly turning twenty Beast Ghouls into his own subordinates.

The Night King mounted an Undead Horse and prepared to flee into the depths of the forest. Just as Mark opened his spellbook, preparing to launch a spell attack, a barrage of dense shadows suddenly flew out from the forest's heart. When Mark saw what they were, he was startled and immediately retreated.

A dense hail of stones, wood, and corpses rained down on the spot where Mark had just been standing. After moving away from that area, Mark could see the ones who had ambushed him from deep within the forest: towering Giant Ghouls.

With a boom! The first "Holy Word of Light" spell erupted. The Ghouls surging towards Mark from behind were instantly turned into ash. What Mark hadn't expected was that the Ghouls he had seized control of with his spell had actually withstood the terrifying blow.

However, a second spell immediately followed. The Ghouls near Mark all transformed into burning figures, and a massive crater was left where the Night King had been standing, though unfortunately, it didn't injure him!

Seeing the Night King had moved far away, Mark could only slowly walk toward his troops. The remaining Ghouls all fled deep into the forest.

Once the Blizzard and smoke dispersed, Mark's figure gradually reappeared. The soldiers broke their defensive circle, and the Wildlings all cheered with joy. Every one of them looked at Mark with reverence, many having witnessed Mark's miraculous magic!

At this moment, Moonshadow suddenly spoke to Mark:

"My Lord! Let's go! He's waiting for us!"
