Chapter 204 - The Battle of Harrenhal & Assault

Riverlands, Harroway's Earl's Town

Facing the self-reproach of the Wolf Fang soldiers, Marco smiled and comforted him:

"Your strength is still improving, but this time, you should have encountered something that can suppress your power. In fact, it's not just you. My Far Sight Spell seems unable to see some things there clearly. It seems that this time the enemy has come up with a way to deal with our Skinchangers."

The Skinchangers' abilities have been severely affected since entering the south, but they haven't thought in other directions, all believing it's their own problem that led to the weakening of their power.

Although Marco had discussed this matter with some of the Wolf Spirits' high-ranking members, in the end, all the Wolf Spirits believed it was because of their own weakness.

I just don't know if the things in Harrenhal can affect the magic in the system. Interesting. The Council of Truth is indeed not so easy to deal with. No wonder Marwin said that the Citadel has the ability to change some of the situations in this world.

After the soldier retreated, Marco thought silently in his heart. After coming to the Vale, perhaps because the system's ability was still very strong, Marco didn't feel anything unusual.

It's just that when Marco unified the Vale, the system didn't prompt him to build a Two-way Teleportation Gate, nor did it prompt him to create a Vitality Magic Well.

This matter once worried Marco very much because if the enemy blocked the coastline and the mountain valley roads, the current Valyrian Army would be somewhat passive.

However, Marco quickly dispelled his doubts. In Marco's opinion, as long as he captured Harrenhal, all these problems could be solved.

After figuring out the problem, Marco ordered the soldiers to cook and prepare for rest to face the river crossing battle the next day.

At this time, the Valyrian Imperial Army already had very complete logistical supplies. Marco's construction and planning on Skagos had begun to gradually become standardized and simplified, producing large quantities of supplies every day.

There were wax-sealed fish and chicken meat cans, black bread with coarse grains, and some dried fruits and vegetables. Most of these things came from the products of Skagos Island.

Currently, while ensuring the grain fields in the North, Marco would continue to promote corresponding industries. While ensuring the basic food and clothing of the people, he would also increase the variety and reserves of their food.

The soldiers of the Valyrian Imperial Army could eat dry rations, or they could cook these things into a pot. During forced marches, the soldiers would mostly choose to wrap some canned meat with bread slices to eat together, saving time and convenience. Over time, even some of the people began to learn from them and eat the same things.

After dinner, the time unknowingly reached night. At this time, the Valyrian Imperial Army's camp had completely quieted down. The patrolling soldiers walked between the tents with Wolf Fang, guarding against various emergencies.

"Hoo-hoo…"

An owl perched on an oak branch, its large eyes fixed on the humans below, seemingly puzzled by their numbers. It didn't appear afraid of them.

Suddenly, the owl seemed to sense that it was being watched, and with a flap of its wings, it took flight, heading west.

This was the Kingsroad, about a kilometer from the Valyrian Imperial Army's encampment. A large army was slowly advancing. Leading the vanguard was Walder Frey. He was one of the heirs of the Frey family and was also known as "Black Walder" because he shared a name with his grandfather. It was he who slit Catelyn Stark's throat at the Red Wedding.

"Old Walder Frey" and "Black Walder" were both on Arya Stark's kill list. In fact, all the male members of the Frey family were on her kill list.

Originally, Arya had prepared an assassination plan to wipe out many of the Frey family members, but with the help of certain individuals, they had all escaped. This forced Arya to change her plans and flee The Twins.

This army numbered around 10,000, including nearly 3,000 cavalry. Their goal was to ambush the Valyrian Imperial Army's encampment and burn as much of Marco's army's supplies as possible.

"My Lord! The soldiers are ready. The enemy will never expect that the reason we didn't attack them at The Twins was to follow their army and ambush their camp. Tonight, we will show those Northerners what we're made of!"

Ser Theon Charlton said to Black Walder that House Frey was now the strongest house in the Riverlands, especially after the death of Littlefinger, Petyr Baelish. The position of the guardian family would most likely fall to the Freys.

As one of the three vassal families of House Frey, Theon Charlton really wanted to perform well in this war, so that the main family would take notice and re-enfeoff him with land to strengthen his own family.

"Order the soldiers to speed up! Our target is the enemy's garrison. We're getting closer and closer to them. We must seize the opportunity to launch a surprise attack. They outnumber us, so don't be careless!"

Black Walder looked at the bright moon hanging high above the troops, his heart filled with excitement. He also wanted to take this opportunity to show his talents to his family, so that he would have a chance to inherit the head of the house.

Black Walder's grandfather, Walder Frey, the "Old Walder Frey", was already over 90 years old. Now, above Black Walder, there was only one older brother, Edwyn Frey. Only by getting rid of him, would Black Walder be the first in line to inherit.

Following Theon Charlton's order, the soldiers began to accelerate towards the direction of Lord Harroway's Town. The cavalry also formed a formation, preparing to charge the camp.

Most of the soldiers in this unit came from the Riverlands and the Reach. The attack plan was proposed by the "Old Walder Frey". He had been sending a signal to the Iron Throne, that House Frey was going to fight the Valyrian Empire to the death.

Originally, with the "Old Walder Frey"'s caution, he wouldn't have been so reckless. But after the messenger from King's Landing showed him the new weapons from the church, this "often late" Frey decided to take a risk.

The Riverlands and the North were like poisoned honey for the Frey family, who craved to rise among the upper nobility – sweet, yet dangerous. "Old Walder's" life was nearing its end, and taking a gamble might just catapult the family to glory.

With the sound of horns, the Iron Throne coalition, nearing the Valyrian Imperial Army's encampment, launched their attack. A large number of cavalry spearheaded the charge, roaring towards the soldiers' tents, protected by wooden palisades.

Many coalition soldiers wore expressions of excitement and cruelty, as if they could already see the enemy's panic. Just as the leading cavalry was about to break through the gates,

massive Blackthorn Vines began to grow wildly at a visible speed. They were extremely tough and exceptionally sharp. The vanguard cavalry felt as if something had grabbed their feet, and their warhorses immediately fell to the ground.

Many soldiers were thrown from their horses, either trampled to death or bleeding from the thorns of the Blackthorn Vines. For a moment, the battlefield was filled with the screams of men and horses, causing some new recruits to tremble with fear.

"What's happening? What exactly is going on up there…?"

"Roar..."

"Black Walder" said with some annoyance. But before his household could answer, a terrifying dragon's roar came, followed by a stream of scorching dragonfire descending from the sky.

The terrifying dragonfire followed the charging soldiers, burning a long swathe through them. Many instantly turned into "human torches," wailing as they frantically ran about.

The low bushes and dry grass near the Kingsroad were also instantly ignited, the rising flames illuminating the dark battlefield. Many soldiers who reacted quickly fled to the sides of the road.

Just as the Iron Throne's allied forces were starting to catch their breath, two more terrifying dragon breaths descended from the sky. Taking advantage of the firelight on the battlefield, the Crystal Dragon and the Ice Dragon began to unleash their breath on the areas with the most people.

For a moment, the entire battlefield was filled with the chaotic scrambling of the Iron Throne's allied soldiers. "Black Walder" watched the battlefield with a look of anxiety, his heart in disarray. He immediately ordered the officers beside him to gather the troops, but the effect was still not obvious.

In the midst of the chaos, "Black Walder" suddenly glanced at the person behind him. Recalling the other party's methods, his mood calmed down slightly.

"Ser Dery, why haven't you taken action yet! The followers of the Seven are being slaughtered. If you don't act, we might all be annihilated."

"Black Walder" said to the seven knights in rainbow cloaks beside him. These fellows were the "Rainbow Knights" from the church. Rumor had it that they were descended from the "Warrior's Sons" who were disbanded a hundred years ago, and that they were even stronger than the "Warrior's Sons."

Ser Dery seemed to have just come to his senses. He looked apologetically at the allied generals around him and explained to "Black Walder":

"My apologies, Lord Walder. My brothers have never seen dragons before, and they forgot their duty. I am very sorry. We will act immediately and make these heathens pay the price."

Following this, the seven knights each produced a crystal ball from their belongings. However, these crystal balls possessed a strange glow, unlike ordinary ones.

Looking at the crystal balls that shone with seven different colors, the expressions on the seven knights' faces became excited. Then, they drew the daggers from their waists and cut their palms, pressing their bleeding hands onto the crystal balls.

"May the Father's… may…"

A string of prayers, resembling spells, was recited by the seven knights. Subsequently, the light within the crystal balls began to flash. After breaking free, they coalesced into a giant ball of light, illuminating the entire battlefield.

The appearance of the light ball also drew the attention of the dragons. Marco, who was in the royal tent, sensed the unusual nature of this power. He then ordered the Crystal Dragon to take the lead and charge towards the light ball, intending to test it with dragon breath first.

Just as the Crystal Dragon was about to unleash its breath, the light ball instantly expanded, transforming into a massive humanoid creature. This being was radiating white light from head to toe and had a large seven-star wheel behind its back.

Upon seeing the change in its target, the Crystal Dragon didn't hesitate and unleashed its dragon breath. The "Seven Star Light Being" raised its left hand and withstood the attack.

Seeing the dragon breath blocked, Brynden and Aegon immediately ordered the dragons to attack. Two dragon breaths from the Crystal Dragon's wings struck the "Seven Star Light Being," forcing it to abandon its "one-handed operation" and raise both hands, concentrating a powerful force field around itself.

With the "Seven Star Light Being" suppressing them, the dragons could no longer attack the ground troops, and "Black Walder" and his forces finally had a chance to reorganize the already chaotic troops of the allied forces. This happened just as the Iron Throne's allied soldiers were re-forming their ranks.

The soldiers of the Valyrian Imperial Army then launched their attack directly. The Paladins, led by Godric, formed a battle array and charged towards the Iron Throne's allied soldiers who were gathering.

The Paladins, radiating golden light, were like unsheathed swords, charging towards the Iron Throne's allied forces with irresistible momentum.

Godric's entire body shone with golden light, and so did the lance in his hand. His warhorse neighed as it charged towards the enemy. At this moment, a Frey knight who was still gathering soldiers was watching this scene with a face full of terror. He quickly shouted to the surrounding soldiers to assemble.

It was a pity that he couldn't organize the panicked soldiers around him. With a "boom," Godric's lance pierced through the knight's helmet, and with the terrifying power of light, the lance directly blew the knight's head apart.

With the Paladins' charge, a huge gap was torn in the Iron Throne's allied soldiers' formation, and the winter wolf riders who were following the Paladins seized the opportunity to attack.

Subsequently, a large number of Valyrian Imperial Army soldiers also rushed into the middle of the Iron Throne's allied soldiers' ranks through this gap, and a chaotic melee began between the two sides.

To Marco's surprise, his troops were actually holding their own against the allied soldiers. Then, Marco thoughtfully looked towards the "Seven Star Light Being" in the sky, which was constantly suppressing the dragons.

With a thought from Marco, two archangels emerged from a special tent near the command tent. They quickly transformed and flew into the sky.

The two archangels moved with incredible speed, reaching Brynden and the others in no time. They then materialized "Judgment Swords," and blue holy flames burned fiercely on the "Judgment Swords," as if to destroy all enemies.

This sudden attack left the "Seven Star Light Being" with no ability to resist. It could only abandon its attack on the dragons, and the Crystal Dragon landed on the ground, covered in wounds.

The dragons were massive and couldn't maneuver easily, while the "Seven Star Light Being's" attacks were incredibly strange, able to transform the energy around them into countless forms, making things difficult for Brynden and the others. Even they were nearly hit several times.

With the help of the two archangels, Brynden and the others were able to ride the dragons back to the base. Dragons weren't airplanes, and even airplanes would run out of fuel. Prolonged flight had taken a toll on them.

After seeing the dragons land, Marco finally used his magic control skills to see through the "Seven Star Light Being's" methods and the anomalies of the Iron Throne allied soldiers. It turned out that in an unknown dimension behind these soldiers, their continuous faith was being absorbed and converted by the "Seven Star Light Being." After the faith was converted, it became a strange energy that instantly enhanced the soldiers' combat abilities.

Boom...

The violent explosions came from the sky. The Seven Star Light Being was forced back by the two terrifying blasts of energy. It turned out that Moonshadow and the others had flown close to the Seven Star Light Being and launched their attack.

Mu, in her succubus queen form, hurled all of her destructive magic at it, coming close to deploying the large-scale, self-destructive weapon, "Doomsday Judgment."

Moonshadow and the others coordinated perfectly. Offense, defense, control, and baiting, their combined attacks forced the Seven Star Light Being to retreat repeatedly, unable to withstand their assault.

Boom...

Moonshadow's next attack struck...
