Chapter 5 - Setting the Foundation - Part 1

*Alex Breckton POV*

*Location: Underground Lab, Alaska*

*Date: December 21st, 1992*

Walking down the half-finished hallway, I passed glass tubes filled with a green fluid, all of which contained half-formed humans, and a few sasquatches from the DNA I had gathered during my time in New York. That day...it took a lot of good people, and not-so-good people, and left the Middle East in a dire state. The oil fields, in particular, were basically useless, seeing as how the newly formed black forest made the nearby air unbreathable, only purifying itself about 200 feet away.

Sure, there was some...clean-up, but it provided extremmly difficult both for normal humans and even the most powerful parahumans, like Eidolon with his variety of abilities. Stroking my hands on one of the nearly completed clones, one of my new scientists to be, it was a blonde female human, at what age I have no idea, considering all I knew was how to create the clones and slightly modify their DNA, for example, she's going to be my head scientist, so I tweaked her intelligence a tiny bit to make her a bit more intelligent/perfectly suited for the role.

The others were a mix of bodyguards, scientists, and engineers who could help me build the prototype Knightmare-frames, eventually moving on to the EVA series. Eventually, establishing my own version of Academy City, albeit without all the dark shit hidden underneath it all...hopefully, and see if the Espers could help against both the Endbringers, the Warrior Entity, and the clones/fellow isekai, as well as the ones who are evil anyway. Which was why, when I bought that map to properly find the best locations to set up a bed.

That and several TVS, a satellite dish, beds, a fridge, lots of food, all of which left me with about $2000 in total, or around there anyway. Most of the cloning vats/fluid was already here and was made using easily replicable material, meaning it can be recreated by anyone, unlike most tinkertech, at this point in time, anyway. Buying all this might've sent me back a tiny bit, but well, there were plenty of scraps to find if you knew where to look, that and had a portal device. Sure, Leviathan hadn't helped decimate the shipping industry, and I say helped because I refuse to believe that they were the sole cause for it.

Although right now I woudl focus on creating prototypes for my various mechs and perhaps start a private military company, security company, or hell just sell toys of the various types of mechs, one for the kids and the other for well nerds if going by this times lingo. Either that or all three, so as to help fund any other facility we may need, heck, maybe even start a martial arts school, sure, Water Smashing Rock Crushing Fist, and Iron Cutting Whirlwind Fist were hard to master.

However, the martial arts themselves could potentially help against the Endbringers, maybe not one like The Simurgh, but the others may be fair game. Hell, in the OPM universe, they were probably Dragon-Level at best. Meaning the Bang and Bombs martial arts were extremmly useful in this universe, although when it came to Scion and the Warrior Entity itself, well, that's debatable. Which was why I hoped the other people who came with me, alongside my clones, could come out with that.

Which was another reason the TVs would be useful, right now, computers weren't the best, and I had no idea if Google would be or even if it was a possible thing right now, Earth Bet had diverged from Earth Aleph, aka our Earth, only with more Parahumans, fewer than Bet, but more than my own original reality. Either way, knowing the battlefield was simply half the battle, but still part of the battle nonetheless.

Either way, after doing a routine check-up on the various tubes, I walked back down the hallway, opening a door that led to the tube I arrived in. Looking at it, I sighed, knowing full well I would have to repair it soon. Well, that is if I ever actually wanted to use it, but either way, as I exited this part of my new lab, I went straight toward the large room that now had heaps of mechanical parts, some half-finished arms, each one ready for testing once I figured out how to safely create Sakuradite, which involved using quartz and other various normal matieral.

Each one used to perfectly create what the Code Geass universe called the Philosopher's Stone. Which, in fairness, based on what I knew, wasn't too far off, I mean, hot damn, this thing, if properly implemented in the EVA series, would drive off the need for the connecting cable use for their armor and any other weapons they had. Right now, I have two ongoing projects, which are a bit slow, not due to my own lack of superhuman speed or strength but rather the fact that I had to be careful when handling these materials.

Although I did wonder if the US or the future PRT, wait, were they established or was that a future thing? Either way, selling the basic Knightmares to them and maybe a few advanced ones as well, whilst keeping the most dangerous ones to myself. Either way, I would need to start actually funding my experiments soon enough. Even if the clones weren't paid, the material itself is expensive, well, some of it anyway. The vast majority of the expenses would probably come from bulk buying.

Either way, I cracked my arms and went to work. Right now, I am working on the basic skeleton of the machine, so to speak. The thing that lets it move and respond to the human pilot's movements. As I fiddled away on the machine, making sure all the parts were connected together, all the while, my other machine, which I'm calling the Sakuradite Mixer, which resembled a blender, albeit way more sci-fi and mass producible, was currently making/finalizing the first piece of the square/pink shaped substance.

Didn't matter right now, though, as I began to think about several incidents I've seen on the news just today. Apparently, I'm currently living in Alaska, which meant I had to get one of the more pricey satellite dishes, which, let's be honest, are far more expensive than just getting the local ones. Apparently, the president himself, one Mr. Hailey Taylor, aka this reality's first female president, is a nice change of pace from our own reality. Either way, she and Congress pushed for a new governmental agency called the Parahuman Response Team.

Apparently, it was on the books for a while; the newly dubbed Endbringer 'Gaia' just pushed it forward. Of course, it wouldn't be established right away, but it was a step in the right direction. Either way, that wasn't the only strange bit. Apparently, there's been an uptake in mysticism, or at least the news calls it such, seeing how a new hero calling themselves 'One-Eye' was going around claiming magic was real, or something like that.

Footage of him showed a tall man with dark blonde hair and an eyepatch over one of his eyes. That and he was calm...far more calm than most new capes would be in such a situation, meaning I would have to do some research on him to see if he was like me or not. If he wasn't, I'd just assume he was another cape claiming magic is real...Although I guess one of the other isekais would probably choose magic in their own CYOA. So it was a very real possibility that this guy had magic related to Odin in one way or another, and this was his way of trying to contact his fellow otherworlders.

Heck, he might've even chosen a mixture of magic options like Toaru, where Espers came from, as well as magicians. Maybe mix in a few more in there as well and start spreading the love to help humanity advance in the supernatural arts, alongside science, as I intended to do. I mean, Code Geass had antigravity technology, which would be perfect for space travel. Alongside that, I'm sure Neon Genesis Evangelion and the science of Toaru had far more to offer than weapons as well. You just had to be creative enough to do so.

That wasn't the only new individual I had my eye on, however; I also had my eye on two other individuals. One was a brightly colored spandex-wearing hero calling himself "Achilles" not because his abilties are like those of the ancient Greek hero. No, instead it's referring to his durability, and as most people would call the 'Alexandria Package', but he was a tenacious bastard. Apparently, one of his first big battles was against Gaia; the guy got torn apart but kept on swinging.

A few days later, bam, he was all healed up and ready to fight again, almost like a certain 'title-card' hero? I suspect that he picked Viltrumite-Hybrid in his CYOA, alongside Battle Contiuation from the Nasuverse, and Invictus, alongside a few other minor boosts as well to his physical capabilities. I'm sure he has a few more capabilities as well to help in the fight against both Endbringers and Scion himself, alongside other threats of the world.

Although the Slaughter House 9 wouldn't be too big a problem, mostly because the only people they threatened had shards either turning their powers off, or Jack Slash himself turning them over for one reason or another. Hell, some of the members known in the story weren't even born yet, and Jack Slash was the biggest threat out of all of them due to the fact that he helped cause Gold Morning. Kill him, and bam, you get a few more years without Scion going beserk.

Anyway, going back to the potential list of otherworlders we at last come to, 'Crimson', a man with red hair, two swords, and a habit for not taking things seriously. I believe he stationed himself in Brockton Bay for some reason or another, no idea why, but it would be interesting to see how the world changes, how it develops with these three alongside my three clones. Speaking of which, I hadn't heard a whiff about them, and I'm both glad and terrified because of it.

Glad that I didn't have to deal with them quite yet, and try to figure out what their overall abilties were. Terrified because that meant either A they weren't born yet, so to speak, or B they were building and planning like I was. Either way, I'd have to contact all six of them soon enough...at least I hope it's only six since I'm guessing they chose the Blank and Mental Barrier perk. Well, the clones had it for sure, no idea if the other three had them.

Hopefully they did anyway, but well, you can never be too sure of anything, no matter how obvious something may seem. Either way, we'd all need to gather eventually and talk, talk about how to properly deal with the Endbringers and Scion...like Cauldron did in the original story. Only perhaps without the moral bankruptcy, I'm sure their little fortune teller must be having a fun time with so many new Blanks running around, oh wait, they have no idea some of us exist.

This should be a fun old time, especially since I've nearly completed the basic skeleton of the Knightmare Frame, just need to tweak a few more things, and it should all be ready.

"Wonder what we should call ourselves if we do decied to stick together?"
